Buying the squirrel skins in four or five  different colors is not a rabbit hole I'm going to fall into. Been there, done that and now have to sell some stuff to put order in my life.  

Having said that, I saw the fly shop also offered micro rabbit zonker strips.  Have you tried those? I could see them working in this fashion if the hair isn't too long. They are quite a bit cheaper...

    I would say that they would work fine Keith. My rabbit hole isn't that deep. I might trip and sprain an ankle but It won't swallow me up.

My 'fly tying box' is either 30 or 40 gallon plastic bin and I always seem to be able to fit more into it. But I'd still probably stick with one or two colors. Best  for sculpin  might be mottled. Did you say those Wapsi strips are UV dyed?

One is. It's got a chartreuse tint to it.  I'm the fly swap thread I have pictures of it under a UV light.
