She buys lots of high end clothes for work that way too. Oh yes this is a fact. Pat gets a bunch of high-end stuff that way also. I just let her go after it. Some brand new with tags still in them. Her older and still nice clothes we donate. We took four big boxes of stuff to a place that sells and profits got to a woman's shelter. It is a transition place for abused women and the children involved. I even buy there. Found something pretty cool when Pat donated, I bought. I have had the high base for three years and I restored it. Gift from a friend. It is a Griswold American set of waffle iron paddles. Ten dollars for the pair of paddles. Amazing find. They will restore perfect! Every weekend they'd hit the sales. They'd buy stuff, then turn around and resell it at a profit at their own garage sale. They knew antique glass and table ware too. Some of that stuff can be resold for $$ but you have to know what to look for. If I drive by one and see some fishing stuff, I'll stop and check it out, but I never find anything I want to buy. Once a year Bella Vista has a garage sale weekend. Lots of garage sales, streets get clogged with parked cars, cars driving around all over the place. I hate it, I'm always glad when it is over. My wife and daughter primarily go to estate sales. Garage sales not so much. I go occasionally. Especially if they have pictures of stuff I might be interested in.
dblades Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Had a buddy that was cleaning houses and cleaning up after construction. Found about 3 thousand dollars worth of high quality woman's clothes, a lot with the tags in a Branson dumpster. snagged in outlet 3 1
Members Lloyd Posted July 7 Members Posted July 7 I get to creek fish three times per month at best, so maybe 10 - 15 trips per year. Given that my time on the water is priceless, I don't mind paying a little more to have the best possible lure for the job. Fortunately, flukes are cheap :).

I think the reason why I'm noticing/complaining about it now is because I recently moved, and suddenly the nearest decent smallmouth stream is 12 miles down the road instead of like 80. And there are a couple more pretty good ones within 20 or so miles. So I've been on the water at least for an hour or two after work ~4 days a week. In the last month, I've probably caught more smallmouth bass than I did in all of 2024. Which is an excellent problem to have! But naturally, I'm going through a lot more tackle. Lloyd 1
Members Lloyd Posted July 8 Members Posted July 8 Congrats on your move! I'm 60 - 75 miles from some good creeks. If that number were 20 and I were fishing 4 days a week, it might change my perspective a bit. WestCentralFisher 1

I have been fishing in Missouri for a long time and hadn't even been aware of any of my new home waters as smallmouth streams. Lots of people wade and play in them, but I really do think they're almost completely under the radar as places to fish, period. I am sure they get fished, but I have yet to actually see anyone else with a fishing pole. Hence the extreme vagueness on where they are😆 Lloyd 1
Members Lloyd Posted July 8 Members Posted July 8 That's awesome. One of my regular creeks has a lot of smallmouth, but it's heavily pressured for its entire length. The other one gets a lot less attention, but it only has about half the flow and many of the good pools have silted in over the last few years. I really want to find a few more of those under the radar creeks (which is presumably becoming harder and harder), even if that means driving an additional half hour each way. Let's just say I spend a lot of time on Google maps :). WestCentralFisher 1
