Quillback
Quillback

April 19, Indian Creek

Made it an early start today, Mike and I launched the boat about 0630.  Probably should've had started later in the morning, it was cold, windy and cloudy to start and the fishing was slow.  The bass fishing never got good, we caught about 15 bass, mostly spots, mostly 12-14" fish.  I caught a meanmouth that I weighed that was just short of 3.5 lbs., but that fish was an exception

The walleye bite was good however, we boated 4 keepers (and they were kept).  Nothing exceptional, but three of them were in the 20-22" range.  One was on a jig, the rest on a 2.8 Keitech.  Slow rolling the Keitech, keeping it near the bottom.

Also caught a striper that was in the 6-7 lb. range.

We threw Keitechs, Neds and jigs, Keitechs out fished everything else.

Water remains stained green in Indian and clear near the dam.  WT52-53.

Thanks Dan,  I am just lucky to have the time to get out there and fish, and those flood years we had where the water was high and provided good conditions for fish survival have helped considerably in my opinion.  Tip of the hat to AGFC also for a good walleye program.

I appreciate your Indian Creek reports. I'm heading that way next Saturday if the weather allows. I got a new rig this year with the idea of hitting small lakes at state parks and other areas within a few hours drive of Bella Vista. I need one more trial run with the camper so I made a reservation at Indian Creek Campground next Saturday around. I think it would be cool to just get up in the morning, down some coffee and cereal and hit the lake. We'll see how this adventure pans out over the spring/summer.

That’s it Quillback!!!  I need a pic of ur boat!!   (As so I can follow u around lol).  Ur kicking but out there man.  Keep it up!!

I was thinking the same thing. He definitely has it going on. I am going to retire in a bout 5 months. I am hoping that time on the water will at least improve my fishing, and my catching a little bit. I was wondering if you are retired Quillback?  I noticed you were quite a bit older than me and thought maybe you were. lol :P I look forward to when I have the time to make trips to Beaver. I have scuba dove the lake somewhat, but never have been able to fish there. Enjoy your post.

Nice setup!

Starting sometime in May, there should be a top water striper bite going in the lower lake, assuming we don't get any more stinking floods that mess the water up.  That's ideal to be camping there as you can get out early and late when they are up on top.
