I learned this 30 years ago fishing Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma. Spinnerbaits at nights produce big fish, but you fish them different than you do in the daytime. Bait to use 1/2 oz or larger single Colorado blade Color Black Trailer Pork Uncle Josh #11 Black Where to fish. long points Bluff walls Creak channel bends Retrieve Long casts let the bait sink, ( I usually start of with a 5 count on the drop ) slow retrieve just fast enough to feel the blade thump. The bite usually is not like the typical spinnerbaits bite where they knock it out of your hand. Think more on the lines of the bait just stopping. I relate it to the bite you feel while swimming a grub. When your bait stops set the hook. Hope this helps.

I use 2 bass pro and 2 Atwoods, they all use the same bases which is permanently mounted and the rod holder plugs into the base and can be adjusted left right and up and down. The Atwood holders are made better, but the were almost twice as much. Never lost a rod with either holder, and have caught up 28lb striper using them.

I use yellow power pro 5 lb with a 10 ft leader of 6 lb floor leader attached with an Albright knot.

Put in at RB at first light this morning and fished until noon. Trolled Shad Raps and Flicker shads the entire time. 8 Kentuckies biggest maybe 2lbs mainly dinks 6 smallmouth 5 dinks and 1 huge 22 inches 2 Meanmouth 1 20 inches 4 walleye 1 came home, 3 were within 1/4 of an inch. Fished RB to point 8 Majority of the fish came in front of the elevated roadbed in between the island and the east bank across from RB or off underwater humps. A number of boats fishing for striper just outside of RB at first light. Sorry no pics to windy today.

I have a 2006 Etec 150 HO on the back of a 1991 Basscat Pantera II. I re-powered the cat in April 2007, Merc had a large hole in the side of the motor. The Etec was brand new at that time? Etec performs better than the 'Mercury 175 Efi that it replaced, plus uses half the oil and gas. At the time I purchased it, it was $2000 more than a new Mercury 150 2 stroke but I figured it would be worth it due to the $0 maintence for 300 hours and the extended warranty Evinrude provided at that time. Below are my maintenance / repair expenses for the past 7 years, and the motor still runs like it was new. 3/08 New lower unit - covered under warranty - cause braided fishing line 3/08 New fuel filter - covered under warranty - bad fuel 11/08 New trim buttons on throttle - covered under warranty 02/13 300 hour service around $400 don't remember exact cost. Computer history of the motor showed 337 total hours, with the majority of those hours in the 4500 - 5000 rpm range.

I fish between Houseman and Holiday Island in the summer when it gets hot. Nothing feels better on a 100 degree afternoon than the cold cool air and the fog created by the cold water release when they start to generate. It also seems to turn on the bite in that area. I catch Walleye, Whites and the occasional trout using silver spoons.

Go to Table Rock it is on Fire.

This link will explain it better. Or search for 3 way rigging for walleye. Just replace the weight with the 1 3/4 ounce spoon
-
I have used the following 3 way swivel rig with success on whites, large mouth, Kentuckian, and wall eyes in the fall. 3 way swivel 3 foot lead going down with 1 3/4 ounce white spoon - this is used at the weight end 5 to 6 foot leader with jerk bait attached Trolled the boat at 3/4 mph with eletric motor, bouncing spoon off bottom with occasional forward sweep of the rod to add action to the jerk bait. Usually fish this in 25 - 30 fow of water in Praire Creek in November and December. Work every time.

Set up to use. Spinning rods medium action Reel spooled with 6 lb mono drag set on the light side 1/4 ounce darter jig head with 4 inch single tail grub - cloudy day salt & pepper, sunny day smoke with red flake Position boat off gravel banks or long gravel points with the boat sitting in 30 Feet of water, make long casts towards the banks letting your grub go to the bottom. Two different retrieves depending on what the fish want on any given day. 1st retrieve scrub the bottom which is a constant slow retrieve with grub maintaining contact with the bottom. 2nd retrieve is slowly swimming the grub back to the boat. Most bites will be light with the grub feeling heavy or just sort of stopping, light side motion swing will set the hook in the top of the mouth every time. Good luck and good fishing

This is the set up I have gone to on all my spinning rods and reals. Rods St. Croix Mojo Bass or Shimano Crucial Reels Quantuam Or Shimano Line Power Pro 5lb Hi-Vis Yellow - getting old and eyes aren't what they use to be. Leader - this changes depending on the technique I am using. Leader length 10 to 15 feet attached to line with Albright Knot. Drop Shot / Split Shot - 8lb Seagur Invizx fluorocarbon Grub/Ned - 6 lb Suffix Mono green Drag set to 50 percent of the test lb rating of the leader. Side sweep hook set - you can hear the drag on most hook sets, windy days with the ned rig - make sure your line is wet and keep your rod tip low to the water.

Have an 2008 Etec 150 HO purchased new in April of 2009. While derby fishing my motor is punished 100 percent of the day while running WOT. Tournaments fished. 11 in 2009. 35 in 2010 - 221 days on the water in 2010 Best year of my life!!! 0 stress. 10 in 2011 3 in 2012 2 in 2013 1 so far in 2014. When not tournament fishing I usually run somewhere between 50 and 75 percent of the throttle when moving from spot to spot. In the fall and the winter months I troll a lot for whites and stripers at idle. Service and problems by the years 2009 Nothing 2010 Lower Unit replaced under warranty due to fishing line being throw overboard. Talked with partner and problem resolved. 2010 Fuel filter replaced because bad gas. 2010 Prop damaged and replaced due to idiot behind the wheel. My Bad. 2011 Nothing 2012 Normal 3 year service 2013 Nothing 2014 Nothing Pushes a 1991 Basscat Pantera II - 63 mph on gps with tourney load and my fat butt. Best Motor I have ever owned and I have owned Honda's, Yamaha's, Mercury's and Chrysler's. This is my first Evinrude. Honestly believe it is the best product on the market today.

I run a Minnkota Terrova 80# thrust with I-Pilot and the Universal Sonar on a Basscat Pantera II. Mine is the 1st generation model, so I do not have the I-Pilot Link but I believe everything else is the same. I mainly fish for the following species in the following order Bass, Striper, Whites & Crappie. I Love it!!! Can't say enough good things about it. Would not go back to a pedal only motor for any reason.... I very seldom use the pedal. If I had to put a percent on it, I would say less than 1 percent of the time I use the foot pedal. The remote is the only way to fish. Makes fishing easier and more enjoyable. I can now fish all day without my back hurting from playing Captain Morgan all day. Features that are priceless. Spot Lock / GPS anchor. Wonderful for brush, docks, submerged structure. It is also great for keeping you from drifting while you re-tie or change lures. Priceless for staying over suspended fish allowing you to work a grub or a spoon above and through them. Speed lock with auto pilot with .1 mph speed increments is great for setting the speed and slowly cruising down the bank you want to fish. No more fighting the pedal. Just pure fishing pleasure. It is also great if you want to troll gizzard shad for stripers, something I was never successful at until I got the Terrova. Before the Terrova I had fished with hand controlled and foot controlled trolling motor from Mercury, Motorguide, and Minnkota. All served the purpose well and were great products for the day. But fishing with the remote controlled Terrova is an upgrade in fishing technology, Just like the current sonar/gps units of today are an upgrade to the round flashers used 20 years ago. The only thing I can't do as easy with the Terrova is keep the boat from drifting off after I have beached it at weigh in. But since I am not sure that is an actual approved use of a trolling motors I am not worried.

Fished a few hours this afternoon within 1 mile of the point 12 sign for crappie. Water temp was 56 to 58'degrees. Further up the white or war eagle water clarity disappears. Visibility around point 12 is 2 to 3 feet. Fished stick ups, cedar trees, brush piles and log jams using a 1/16th ounce jig with a red and chanteuse tube, 2 feet beneath a bobber. Caught fish right off the bank out to about 15 feet deep. Fish were holding tight to cover. 4 keepers 3 males and 1 female.

How early do you start throwing you wake baits (water temp) and what are the perfect pre-pawn conditions? Any and all help is appreciated.

Fished 7/30/13 across from Starky on submerged humps under lights from dark until I ran out of minnows about 1:30am. Cleaned 37 fish, mostly whites but did manage 2 nice hybrids, one 7lbs the other 9lbs. Big fish were caught on live bait but I also caught them on a white jigging spoon. Fish were suspended between 20 and 25 feet in 45 feet of water. Fished same area 7/31/2013 from 10pm until 3am and only caught 1 fish. Could see the fish and the shad on the locator, but only 1 bite all night, That is why it is called fishing and not catching.

I use a hummingbird sonar / GPS with the Navionics hot map for the Southwest - Chip is 3 or 4 years old. It shows 1 foot contours, roads beds, foundations, etc. I know the lake well but would not run the lake at night or when the water is low without it. By using the chip, comparing it to the printed version of the Hotmap for Beaver Lake that Walmart sells and watching the fleet of striper guides on the water I can say most places the guides fish contain either a roadbed, a foundation, or some key topo feature that you would never know was there otherwise. Navionics also has a product called Navplanner 2 that runs on a PC that you might want to check out (way to many features for me list). All of the products and other map products have there place but they will not put fish in the boat. If you understand the basic habits of the fish you are targeting they are a great tool, otherwise they are a waste of money. As far as any being marked with a secret spot the printed version of the Hotspots Map sold at walmart does have areas marked and information regarding the species, time of year and even lure suggestions.

Fished Wednesday night from 7pm till 1:00 am under lights on a mid-lake hump that rises to 34 feet deep and has brush on it. Water around the hump is 45-50 feet deep. Good shad swarm by 9:30, slow fishing. 4 kentuckies before dark on drop shot, 5 whites on white jigging spoon, 1 short walleye on white jigging spoon. 2 bites missed on crappie minnows. Top water action all around the boat mostly small whites or crappie chasing minnows, did have a huge smallmouth come out of the water chasing shad. Pretty cool to watch. Just had trouble getting them to bite. Talked to a number of guys at the ramp as I was putting in that said they were fishing under the 12 bridge for the past couple of nights and catching a few. When I got back to the ramp everyone was gone so I am assuming their luck was like mine.

It is mandatory that you have a master degree to own a wake boat.

Fished Praire Creek today from 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM We caught fish between the no wake bouys in the middle of the channel. Combination of brood minnows and jigging spoons. Fish and shad were 35 feet deep, the boat was sitting in 45 to 65 fow. 3 strippers biggest 15 lbs 2 on minnows, 1 on jigging spoon 1 hybrid Hit the jigging spoon 1st, broke the line, immediately hooked up on brood minnow, when netted the fish it had the spoon in it's mouth. 3 whites. All on Jigging Spoon
