I went out of High Point Friday and fished my white bass bank about a mile down river. Main lake was 54.5° Saw a few fish on the graph but they weren't biting. Went back around near the ramp and found 57.6 later on. Caught 6 blacks on a wart and wacky worm. Oh, make sure when you tie your boat to the dock to go park you double check your knots or you're probably gonna get wet!

Monday at High Point it was 54.4 with perfectly tinted color...

Well that was a bust... Put in at High Point about 9 this morning. Water is up, had to wade calf deep to get to the dock. Stained pretty bad with 10" visibility, water temp ranged from 50.1° to 51.7°. Went to my white bass bank and saw very little action on the graph. Fished two passes throwing the A rig without a bite. Wind was pretty strong too. Left that to bass fish for a couple of hours but after only 1 short fish I bailed. Winds were gusting to 30 and the cold rain was coming. Will try it again next time!

I've used Storm's wildeye swim shad in the past but am now using a 3" Powerbait shad. I dont think it really matters that much but who knows?

I'm gonna go up tomorrow and see if I can reproduce that trip. I'll let ya know how it turns out...

I posted this a year ago and recently watched it again. It may help someone new to the lake, site, sport to catch some whites this spring. It's a limit of big sow whites caught in 30 minutes.

We think the key was temp... we fished pretty much 10-3 in 49° to 50° water then stumbled on a piece of bank above 55! Game on! Most fish came the last couple of hours on warts fairly shallow off those warmer rocks. Always great to fish with Steve...

From late April thru May I always look forward to catching some spawning channels on the rocks. Couldn't find em this year... All my spots were way too deep and I didnt adjust well. Any tips or stories?

$5 at the campground ramp (make sure you have your own pen!) Water color is great around 245 bridge and progressively goes from off color to stained to almost muddy as you approach Highpoint. 57.7° was our high water temp yesterday.

Outstanding! Always nice to have a vacation day pay off, especially when the wife is along!

We fished the same bank I videoed and caught 10 between us in the first pass. Thought that was a little slow so we went to another bank up towards Highpoint and only caught 1 or 2. Went back to the first Bank and finished up our limits... Took us 3 hours to fill up so still a great day! Glad we got off the water when we did!
