There are smallies there. It is much more trout heavy though. Fun little stretch of water. I plan on floating it again, but I think I will wait until the rec traffic is back in school. I hear there is some really interesting water in Mary Decker Shoal. I started my float below it.

Do the fish react to them running water thru the dam. ie does it move enough water that they position to take advantage of it? I always know what they are doing with the water IF I'm going to be fishing the tailwaters, but I've never given it much thought if I am on the lake.

I have had an INCREDIBLE trip the first week of May one year BUT the key do a good bite in May is that the lake needs to be high. Normal pool is 172. IF you have a water level of 168, those fish are likely going to head offshore as soon as they are done shallow. You fish TR so maybe the fish going offshore wont be an issue to you. IF you have a level of 174, stay shallow all day. IF you decide to go, give me a call and we can talk TB.

It fishes good in the fall probably through December, but it really shines in the Spring. Do yourself a favor though and don't go too early. There can be GREAT trips in Feb, but you better leave that for the locals. Weather can absolutely give them lockjaw after a cold front. Late March or early April around a Full Moon is the deal. Just hope and pray for good weather and be willing to trailer to the closest launch if the wind gets up. There isn't a boat big enough to be safe on TB when a north wind gets up.

I wish all the SEC teams all the luck in the world EXCEPT when they play MY Tigers. Well....except Alabama and Ole Miss; I want them to lose every game they ever play for ever and ever Amen.

The behavior of a lot of LSU fans in BR is despicable. They start drinking on Friday night and are often completely out of their minds by Saturday night. I don't blame anyone that has a bad opinion of LSU or Baton Rouge or Louisiana in general because of that deal. I don't like it or approve of that behavior. It seems like that stuff has taken on a life of its own.

That is not an uncommon opinion. He has averaged over 10 wins a season. Would you be satisfied with him if he averaged 11 wins a year? Won a National Championship and played for another (got demolished but got there), does he need a National Championship every 3 rd year or every 5 th year. You have to give him some credit for recruiting well at the very least and then acknowledge that there is only one football to go around. Guys hone their skills and bail before their senior season. IF LSU could get a Great QB, they would have won another National championship. If Saban wasn't on his historic run, I 5hinj people might look at CLM a little differently as well. I'm happy with CLM, but we will see how long he can last in BR. The guys pulling the strings are really SPOILED by the last 10 years of success. They seem to forget that everyone plays their butt off and wants to win the Big games.

If your chow hound Head Coach keeps eating and gaining weight, he'll develop his own gravitational field soon. Maybe that will help with Arkansas recruiting.

Would you prefer to compare total wins for Arkansas vs total wins for LSU during the Les Miles era? Would you prefer to look at Arkansas's best year vs LSU's worst year under Les Miles? Would your prefer to look at numbers of players from Arkansas vs number of players from LSU that have gone to the NFL since Les Miles took over? Would you prefer to compare Bowl appearance's or Bowl wins? National Championships? Last year was a butt whuppin no doubt. I hated it. BUT I'd rather have CLM than the head coach Arkansas has.

My Dad is Class of 58. I am Class of 1983. I was born at the old Lady of the Lake across from the State Capitol in Baton Rouge. Followed the Tigers since I was about 5. I knew all my life that I was going to LSU. Why in the world would you go anywhere else? My wife is an alumni as well. She was Class of 1989 (I think). So, I come by it honest.

I wear a full length Raccoon coat when its Super cold. I'm not afraid of a lot. The knuckleheads that say there is nothing new about the Ned rig make me act that way.

I've got better finesse jigs than those and they sure are good in rivers AND when the lake fish are in a PMS funk BUT I've all but turned my back on them since I have started really fishing the beetle spin without the spinner.
