I got a photo of one of many Shadow bass I caught this week.
I prefer to go with someone, but I will float solo if need be. Good advice above. Leave a float plan with someone. Be a little extra careful. Know your limits. It's about having fun and catching a few fish, try not to turn it into a Survivorman episode.
Move down, buy a trout boat, buy a Bass Cat, buy a cane, buy yaks, and maybe buy a drift boat. I encourage you to buy all the boats you can afford and that you can store, but I consider boats a long term purchase and I would wait until I got here. when Is that again?
My suggestion would be to wait until you more down here and fish with a few folks that have dfferent boats. You'll be able to decide for yourself if you want a jet or need a prop. Lots of used boats designed to be used on the White for sale all the time.
I think if you bought the Panfisher that you would be selling it not long after you moved down.
The young man was an outstanding defensive player at the college level. He doesn't have the numbers the pro scouts are looking for, but IF he had gotten a chance in the right spot, he might have been able to stick around and improve.
Tebow was outstanding in college and has been a winner at every level, but needed to be more accurate and less dependent on running. He could still be playing if he had changed to a TE.
I'm going to try larger hooks as well. I just don't think it's going to help withthe hard pops with no hookup. My bass bites have not been pops, they just load the rod.
It's a beautiful stretch of river that is filled with outstanding vistas and is teeming with fish and wildlife. I haven't fished or floated a section of the BUffalo I didn't like though.
We have been getting some rain recently, but look at flow rates carefully before biting off too long a section.
I'm also thinking that a lot of the missed strikes are panfish that are striking the bait and their mouth is too small to eat the lure well. Several of the crappie and bluegill I have caught have been hooked outside the mouth. Larger hooks are not going to help that, but it might fix losing the keeper bass I have hooked and lost in the past.
Is LSU going to be known as DBU or WRU? the secondary remains very strong. A new crop of WR is going to be impressive as well.
Kenny Hilliard looks like he'll be the man at running back this year.
The young QB showed a lot of progress and I feel much better about that position. They need to tear the screen pass plays out of the playbook though. Those all looked terrible, but it did seem like the RB got tackled withthe ball in the air that was thrown to him. Is that legal on a screen pass?
I watched the game and was very happily surprised at the outcome. I really thought they had dug too deep a hole for themselves.
He actually played better in preseason than I expected. He may get another shot when a team loses some d ends to injury. He might not even be on the Rams practice squad. Depends on their needs.
Look the Rams took him in the 7 th round with their second 7 th round pick.
That's the main downside of the Dorber OMT's. The limited production runs. Often the entire production run is spoken for before they are made. MY buddy who got me started on these has dibs on 4 of the next batch. One of which I will buy from him.
I hope to fish with JP one of these days. He can try one of mine and make sure he likes it, but if he buys one and hates it, I'll buy it from him. I'm not at all convinced that he's gonna like it, but I LOVE them.
Lots of ways to skin that cat. I'm mighty fond of my Dorber OMT 84 UL rods. It says UL but it ain't no buggy whip. Your farming buddy does very well with a rod that I consider WORTHLESS for jig fishing. Apparently it is not complete worthless for that just worthless when I try to jig fish with it.
I also use one of Richard Cross's CrossFire rods.
I have a Fenwick Elite Tech River Runner headed my way alledgedly, eventually. It is a warranty replacement from Fenwick They didn't make the model I purchased anymore. I think I got the Light instead of an Ultra Light. I'm going to use it for a Ned rod though NOT a trout rod.
There are several of these threads about trout jig rods. My luck using the search function varies. You might want to look at those if this thread doesn't provide the answers you seek.
I work with a young lady that spear fishes on Bull Shoals with her family. Once season starts and the thermocline sets up, they will go at least once a week. They work at it and enjoy it every bit as much as I do hook and line fishing. While I don't think it is easy, they generally get fish every time they go. Often getting their limits of walleye for everyone on board.
Much like OTF, I fish for every thing. I don't consider "non game species" to be trash fish. My problem with gigging is the tendency for bad apples to gig every fish they can without worrying about what the species AND that modern gear really makes it possible for ppl to gig a LOT of fish in a night. I understand it's a local tradition and I understand that guys have a lot of money tied up in gigging gear, but I still wish it wasn't going on.
