  1. I have heard that cold water can really concentrate the redfish, but I haven't seen it myself. It kind of hurts my feelings that a Louisiana boy has caught less Redfish my lifetime than BilletHead did on his first trip ever. This butt hurt might just motivate me to get back down there a catch a few more redfish. I'm sorry your numbers are down Cody. Did you catch any of the other fish that swim down there? Are you catching very many unders? They're still a lot of fun.
  2. They really do stink.
  3. Wow! You might not ever do that well again. That's a crazy good trip. Well Done!
  4. All those nice bass AND a puppy.
  5. A buddy got back a couple of weeks ago from shooting ducks in the Berring Sea. Weather was brutal, but the TSA was worse. He got his bucket list ducks though. He wanted it and he enjoyed it, but he doesn't want to go back.
  6. 59 pounds and 11 oz.

    Usa Vs. Russia

At this point, USA should be expected to medal, but don't cry too hard if it's Bronze instead of Gold.

    Usa Vs. Russia

At points during the game, it looked like Russia was clearly the better team, but then USA would push back. I still need an explanation of why the Russian goal was waved off at around the 4 minute mark. It looked like a good goal to me. seems bogus. The shoot out was outstanding. Great game.
  9. QB , I think it ought to smoke them on BV lakes.
  10. Skip Jack Shad are a different fish that are highly desired by some cat fisherman.
  11. Intellectually, I certainly understand that their pain does not carry with it the emotional context that a human's or other higher animal's pain does and I don't worry about a tick's feelings when I mash them. It seems to me to be largely unnecessary to clean them while they struggle and it bums me out for me to do it. I know that lots of people clean their fish straight out of the livewell ; I can't change that and I try not to worry about things I can't change. I don't know if I could argue that it is unethical for you to do so, but I don't think anyone could argue that it is kind to run a knife through them while the are alive and aware. I fully acknowledge I'm tender hearted about stuff sometimes, but me putting my fish on ice before I fillet them shouldn't make anyone else lose sleep either.
  12. I guess the gray Marabou1/8 oz road runners I tie up won't get bit slow rolled in early spring either. Darn.
  13. There are 101 miles of it to learn. I promise it's a lot of fun. Just take it easy the first few trips and get the feel of the boat. Watch where you're running and watch for trouble coming as you float downstream. Have your motoring running a long time before you NEED it. The water is usually very clear and you can see a lot of the structure you need to see.
  14. Pretty good cold water Smallie jig IMO. I throw them when I do an early canoe or yak trip for creek smallies.
  15. Gizzard shad. I've only caught them on crappie jigs during the cold weather periods of the year. Maybe the lack oh plankton drives them to get aggressive. They stink. Slimey devils. Good catfish bait though.
  16. Joe, Make a drag chain. You will not drift straight w/o it. Did we talk about drag chains via PM? The area above Rim Shoals is mostly smaller rock and gravel IF you stay on the inside part of the turn. The bluff side has excellent rock and wood that will eat your drift rigs. Lately, most of the time they are running less than 12 K which I think is great. I guess I would ask for 7500 CFS IF I got to pick the water flow.
  17. It's so difficult to say without knowing the water level that day. White Hole is a good area. I don't fish it a lot, but there are plenty of fish there. That ramp just ends up being really awkward to get to from my house so I use the other ramps more often. I love Rim Shoals. There is a long pool immediately above the Catch and Release area that always holds a good fish and it would be legal to do the powerbait thing. The area below the C&R part of Rim Shoals is very good as well. Make sure you are aware of the boundries to the C&R areas. The ramp at Cotter can be a pain, but with up and down from town can be very good depending on water level and mostly easy to run.
  18. The only thing better than a know it all is a grumpy know it all.
  19. I ice mine down as well. Really bad karma filleting them out while they're flopping. I guess I'm tender hearted. I'm gonna knock em the head or something before I go to cutting.
  20. Careful now, people are start asking for proof. Lol.
  21. Last year about this time, it was starting on NFOW. it was a milder winter to be sure, but they were catching them weeks before I would have thought.
  22. Hey Alex, If you still had that address, I'd be glad to send them a couple that I broke with a very polite letter requesting replacement.
  23. I have a few of the 110 + 1's and I like them. If I was chossing between the two, I'd stick with the 110's. I'd also suggest making sure you don't hit bottom or a high rock with the bill of that 110. They break.
  24. It might work for MIley.

    2-8-14 White River

One of my best trips for numebrs and size of Browns. Really good color on the Rainbows and Browns (and my one Cutthroat). I went yesterday with Godfrey for about three hours down river. I caught 37 and he was catching them as well or better than I was. We had over a dozen Browns and at least eight pretty decent ones. These fish are 15-18 ionches long and fight hard. I'm not measuring them. I get them boatside and reach over and slip the hook out of their mouth. I don't need to know how long they are bad enough to stress them even a little bit more than necessary.
