  1. I use Berkley 100 % Fluro 10 lb.
  2. Bacon's Tackle Store in Shreveport,La is a GREAT source for hard to get stuff. He acquired lots and lots of Smithwick lure parts when the original owners closed up shop. I would imagine he has replacement bills for Rogue's. Bacon's phone number (318) 686-6309 if anyone is interested.
  3. Thanks for the intell Bill and it sounds like a Great bite for walleye which I love to catch and love to eat, BUT I caught 109 trout in less than 5 hours of fishing on the White river 20 miles from my house using about 2 gallons of gas in the trout boat. I can't justify dragging the Bass Cat to Kissee Mills from my house for 10 bites a day. I just can't.
  4. Thanks for the heads up. I might have to grab some spinning rods.
  5. I know absoluely nothing about LOZ. I only own the 110's. I do vary my colors I'm throwning a lot based on water color and amount of light. I've caught fish on most of the 110's I have fished so? I like Elegy Bone and Wagin React a l lot.
  6. I've been checked twice on the Buffalo by NPS folks. I was completely within the law and had all my documents in order. neither experience was unpleasant. I'd love to take my jet up the Buffalo, but don't.
  7. I've hit the foot harder that I would like a time or two. No significant damage so far. I've got a couple of dings on the Supreme, but none of them happened while under significant speed. I tend not to run real fast thru boulder fields. I'm pretty brave when I'm running over a gravel flat though.
  8. Well, I did hit bottom twice running riffles, but had enough speed to slide thru to the slightly deeper water.i didn't stop to measure the depth, but if I had, I would not have been able to get it back on plane.
  9. What eats fuel is when they are running a bunch of water and I run up three miles and drift back multiple times In a day. The jet is slow and noisy as well, but I love running shallow w/o worrying about props. I ran about a mile in water less than 5 inches deep at WOT. Scary skinny.
  10. I've got. Merc 20 jet and I''ve come pretty darn close to running a 6 gallon tank dry.
  11. Just in talking to folks I know that run the 4 strokes day in and day out on the White guiding, they sure believe they are using a lot less gas with the four strokes. At WOT, there is almost no difference, but at low RPM's the 4 stroke offer advantages I think.
  12. I use a hard foam tear shaped bobber clipped to one rung of a three way swivel. I tie direct to the three way swivel with 20 lb Power Pro. My dropper to the fly is with 4 lb or 6 lb mono off the last of the three way swivel arms. Easy hook sets at any distance.
  13. Is that a jet foot next to the motor?
  14. 1/16 oz is the most common size I throw.
  15. Sounds like a good time Phil. The nuthouse beklow the dam at BSL isn't that far away. I will be unable to attend the madness for the first few days due to work, BUT somewere in the first part of Feb, I'll launch my boat at first light IF they run any water.
  16. I've used Elken and been very happy with my purchases. Cabela's offers the jigheads your looking for as well, but they may not get yoiu the exact head color you are looking for.
  17. The White in it's natural state is gone forever. I don't spend ANY time thinking about what it would be like today IF it was never altered. The White River we have today is pretty darn fantastic. It can be very enjoyable to fish as it actually is. And truth be told, there are 100's of miles of wild rivers that still exist in their natural state (or at least very close) that we can still float, fish, and enjoy.
  18. I usually struggle with them, but I have had a couple of stellar days using soft hackles that make me keep trying. All the bites I get that I don't hook up , do frustrate me though.
  19. I use St Crois Legend Ultra fly rods with Cabela's RLS reels. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. I they they are really nice rods and I've been more than happy with the RLS reels.
  20. i love a really sparsely tied calf tail (kip) jig for panfish. i PREFER a #10 HOOK on it. black and yellow with red thread was a standard, but most colors worked ok. They were dced in my area and I bought up all I could find in every color available. They really caught bluegill well. Sometimes when the crappie turned up their nose at other jigs they would pound that little thing.
  21. Hey Got Muddy, grill a 17 inch Largemouth Bass or a 21 inch Walleye along with that Redfish and get back with me on which you liked better. I'm jealous of your trip and proud you did so well. Enjoy the fruits of your labors.
  22. I'm from Louisiana. My Dad's brother had an Oilfield Maintainence Company in Venice, La. We were fishing Venice Before it was cool. I can honesty say we were using bass gear for Redfish when 90% of ppl fishing for them were having really heavy gear and shrimp or other bait (maybe most still are). Yep, I've had it grilled, but I'd rather have a grilled Largemouth bass or Walleye. If I'm gonna grill an inshore fish, I want a flounder. Redfish are kinda dopey and aren't usually too hard to fool IF you find a few. They are a really fun fish to catch and I'd much rather release them to fight again.
