  1. you law breaker. I have to say, most everyone is courteous and idles by, as do I. I don't have problems with people that have a little larger motor as long as they aren't throwing a big wake and are looking out for there fellow angler. I do believe that you are not suppose to wade. I have seen video's of the "slab daddy" that have been posted on here in a float tube. He was rippin bass and crappie. I don't have problems with that either.
  2. Good to see a good size brown.
  3. Let thows ladies spawn out
  4. I too would be interested in that study
  5. I agree with you about thinning out the smaller fish, but think that the reasoning is wrong. Doesn't the MDC have an antler point restriction on deer to assure that more deer get to maturity and more larger deer are out there. When you talk about thinning out smaller fish it is usually due to stunting of the fish because they are competing for food ext. Just like the gold fish only grows to the size of the tank and food available. I am not quite sure if this is what is going on ins Lake Springfield. I am pretty sure the people keeping the 12 inchers and shorter wouldn't hesitate to take home a 6 pounder and eat it either. Just my 2 cents
  6. i don't know if any spots on lake springfield are secret
  7. Nitro, Its good to hear that they know there is a problem. I hope they get things figured out. Just wondering of those fish, How many did you catch?
  8. I am hoping that the MDC gets wind of the poor conditions. Maybe a little stocking would help out
  9. Didn't fish Springfield lake today, but did drive over top of it on 60 a few times. The water looked a lovely green. It was a great day to be outside. Didn't wet a hook, but I did have a Tom Turkey coming in like he was on a string...... before being busted by a hen and the whole group was out. Oh well got the heart beating a bit.
  10. I wonder if the MDC will do fish counts in the future. I realize that Fellow's is close to Springfield and gets a lot of pressure, however, Springfield lake doesn't seem to have had the decline that Fellows has seen. I would like this fishery to be managed a little better. I'll tell you I probably won't renew my permit this year. Just not worth it.
  11. Would like to go out to springfield lake this weekend, but I guess I will go see if I can dust a gobler in the morning. Drove across the James. High and murky. Need some chartruse!!!
  12. I have had very special days at Fellows in the year's past, but as of the last 2 years the lake seems to be down, not only water level but fish numbers at least in my boat. Like I said, hard to find structure on the graph with the low lake levels. Most fish boated were throwing jigs or worms. few years ago I caught multiple walleyes on crankbiaits and sticks, but those are hard to come by as well. Any others agree?
  13. What is the status on lake levels in Fellows, Last I was out there it was hard to fish as most of the structure was out of the lake, Minus the weed beds of course.
  14. Will do, I haven't been out there for a while I usually start fishing in the bluff area and head into the main lake. Will hollar at you if i'm heading out there.
  15. You must have some sore wrists after all those. Love the white bite.
  16. None in stock, doesn't seam to last very long when we do have it
  17. The best tasting fish in the lake is Walleye by the way. Crappie close second
  18. No I read you loud and clear. I was just fishing the otherday and came across two guys in a kayaks doing fairly well. Just thought I would say hello to ya if that was you, but guess not. I usually am in a 14' jon
  19. can't go wrong with a 5 night or day
  20. How big is the big boat? you have a Jet on it for the niangua?
  21. you would think with a Northern strain, the genetics would be in the lake. Just my thoughts. I think it is something else. I heard that the MDC also tried to introduce nothern pike to the lake as well, which didn't fair too well. Stockton does have records for Northern pike, but I beleive that these have been eradicated. Might be something about the lake itself that isn't condusive to these fish. Just my two cents.
  22. I too have caught some crappie mainly by mistake. I usually catch them the the river channel part of the main lake while throwing spinner baits for Bass. Thing about crappie when you catch one usually there are more. But no numbers on my end either.
  23. What is the word on this situation? Did they just start putting the rip rap in or did they get some sort of clearance. I would think that the MDC would have some sort or ruling as well?
  24. MSU, were you out the other day fishing with a buddy off Kayaks?
  25. Great report, That boy with the sucker looks proud as punch. Sometimes you can forget what fishing is all about until you see kids fishing. It really brings it in to perspective. Hopefully they will run water alll week and shut er down during the evenings on the weekens. at least i can hope
