  1. I went to the Q&A session back when COE first closed it around 2 years ago. The guy there basically told me there are 2-3 other ramps right in that area of the lake to use. I said most of them are in subdivision(emerald beach) and those people could be a nuisance to all the boaters now going to their ramps. His response was their ramps are COE property not private and they could not block them from the rest of the public. I'm not sure how true that is but it makes sense however isn't it ironic that is exactly what the COE has done at Viney?
  2. COE pass doesn't work when the state was running it. Mo state parks has their own pass to buy. They have closed it off and on since the COE decided they didn't have the money to run it. Last I heard is Mo state parks won't re-lease because its a money losing deal for them too(hearsay).(They also only charge to camp and launch a boat no day use fee) Really a bad deal. I know they Sheriff has a big issue with that gate being locked because it prevents any sort of patrol in that area unlike how they have done at Kings River.
  3. I quit trotlining for the same reason. Now I do jugs and jugs only. I like to set and watch them if not I anchor them, put them out well after dark and take them up before daylight. Trotlines just aren't as easy to set and take out as jugs and leaving them out during daylight just begs for them to disappear. I also find it strange I jug fish quite a bit on Grand and knock on wood haven't lost or had a single jug stolen yet and I don't watch them there. Table Rock I still lose a couple a year setting them late and running them early.
  4. Going up river it will be just past the Eagle Rock COE park. As the lake starts to turn back to the left it will be on the right. You can't miss it.
  5. If you do give it a couple days and that little courtesy dock will look like the banks of roaring river on March 1.
  6. I saw several floaters between pt. 22 and Big M on Saturday morning. Not nearly as many but might go through an area and see 5 or so then none until you got to another wind blown area.
  7. Followed up on Bills post and headed out at daylight to try and catch some gills. Using Bill's info got right on them right away. Ended up keeping 10 total. Also fished a spot that I have caught several walleye off this year and sure enough they a still there. Fished from Big M to Shell Knob focused on long main lake points. Felt good running down the lake and being cold at daylight after all this heat.
  8. Good point….intended to trade for a different one to bring WOT RPM's up.
  9. They tasted good. All the fish we caught on rod and reel. We set our jugs and then went and drifted with rod/reel. Didn't catch a thing on the jugs.
  10. Wrench I've watched several videos online and I think your right….without the tools and the manual I'd probably be putting in more of my money and time than I would if I let someone fix it right.
  11. Yeah I was talking WOT RPM. The deal is I have had the boat 2 years and I don't recall hitting anything. My on dash tach didn't work so I bought a new one and my WOT RPM's are always 900-1000RPM low and I was taking my prop off to take to a shop and noticed the "wobble". Ill check my serial numbers. What specific tools will I need. I'm mechanically inclined and like learning new things just the biggest deal is time down + what am I going to get into once I get it opened. Also when I move my hanger I am using down the shaft with the prop off it is much closer to "true" leading me to think its bent outside the lower unit.
  12. Could a bent prop shaft effect performance to the tune of 900-1000RPM? Its probably got 1/16" to 1/8" of movement through the full turn of the prop(guessing using a coat hanger clamped down for a reference point) Is changing it out something someone could do on their own or is it best left to the professionals?
  13. Fished from 8-12 today. Brought home 4 eater sized fish. Fished mostly in the elk arm to the elk-neosho convergence. Follow the bait and you will find fish.
  14. For me, basic sonar and GPS. I spend a lot of time trolling in the spring and use the SI pretty often then.
  15. Roaring River and Cassville are bad lots of damage and the water is higher than I have ever seen. If you look at the usgs graph you can tell it may not have been a literal wall but that little river went up 7-8 feet in absolutely no time at all. Flat creek through Cassville did the same thing. I drove across at 7am and it looked higher than normal but nothing bad by 10 main street was covered in water from it topping the banks.
  16. The joy of table rock is you don't have to give up the ag/rural lifestyle. There are plenty of places on the upper end where you can literally see the lake and still have a farm. It may be difficult to find a farm on the lake but it can be done albeit pricey. Golden, Eagle Rock, Beaver, Holiday Island(just outside), Blue Eye, Shell Knob, Cape Fair. All these areas are within an hour to Branson, most are within an hour to NWA or Springfield (1 1/2 hours) and most are within 10 minutes from a boat ramp or several boat ramps.
  17. Checking it on findlotsize.com it shows as 9 miles. I wouldn't have thought it that far but usually its pretty close. I use findlotsize.com all the time to measure distances up and down the lake. Only down side is you actually have to know where you want to go by looking at a google map view.
  18. I buy the trout stamp for the same reason seems like every time I have been up that way targeting something else I catch one or two.
  19. I would still come down. Worse case scenario drive over up the white river arm and fish and play over there. The water over there looked much better. It may clear up a bit and with the water level dropping a lot of the trash will be on banks.
  20. Drove by on Sunday. Water was in the parking lot. Water was brown. Didn't see any large debris however did see one boat full of tubers. Lots of little debris I'm sure you find the right wind blown area and the big debris is there.
  21. Thanks. Those are the levels I had in mind just wanted more information from someone that has done it.
  22. I have floated from 62 bridge to romp hole many times. I know what levels I can not drag, float and drag in a few places and what level I wouldn't float at all. I am wanting to venture into floating from Hwy 74 bridge to 62 bridge what levels are best for this section? I would assume it would be lower since as you go down you get more water especially after 62. Just wanting ideas from people that float this more often. I will only be using a kayak. Thanks in advance for any information.
  23. So are you tying off to a tree or bank and then anchoring with a rock? I see lots of lines run from tree to tree but haven't thought about pulling tight and sinking the other end. I prefer jugging but set a trot line from time to time but always went tree to tree which rules out a lot of places. Another tip for everyone is watch your depth and check often, catfish will die as the water warms up.
  24. I know you probably can't launch at wolf creek are the boat ramps at say Iron Horse or 10 bridge usable? I'm wanting to head over and catfish in the next week or so. I really want to stay on the river end of the lake to fish.
  25. I caught 6 short walleye last weekend 3 came off point 22 in shell knob. 3 came (way) off the point at viney creek. I caught everyone of them with a jerk bait. Like Quillback said your going to have to work for them.
