  1. I live in Springfield. I fly fish mostly for trout now. Taneycomo in Branson is always good to hit because of it's proximity but, my favorite river is the North Fork of the White River. I don't have a boat or canoe/kayak so I wade fish. I also like chasing bass on the fly wherever I can.
  2. Looks like you guys had a blast! Very nice fish! Who's that jealous looking guy in the background of the bottom pic?!
  3. Looks delicious! Now I am hungry.
  4. Ah, bummer on the fly rod. Hope it had a warranty! I wish I would have a chance to get down there again but things don't look too promising. Were you bank fishing?
  5. Sounds like a blast! The same fella' that guides in AK is also a duck hunter. If you look through his posts I am sure you could find some places. His screen name is DuckyDoty. And, you are right there are all sorts of fishing opportunities around this part of the country. Where are you located now?
  6. Almost looks like it might have a twin in a different flavor? Pretty neat regardless.
  7. In the name of science!
  8. Or maybe it's that the liberals are right in the debates that get so heated on here and the conservatives have to resort to the same tactics that get threads closed?
  9. Better take it easy mixing morels and booze... From JD's link to the MDC site: "Cautions: Morels have been known to cause mild poisoning symptoms when consumed with alcohol. Morels are quite distinctive, but there is a small chance they could be confused with false morels. See the poisonous mushroom page for ways to distinguish true morels from false morels."
  10. Looks fishy as all get out! Looks like a quality tie to, Mic. How long have you been tying?
  11. It was a good day, but started out super amazingly stupendous! ...till Wise rolled through that is. I had already brought three to hand and lost another in the first 15 minutes I was on water! Sorry I missed you too, Justin. Amy took me in for the VIP tour of the fly shop and got me fixed up with a couple stickers. Lookin' good down there! Ok Brian, just cause I know you feel bad I'll tell you a secret, but you can't tell anyone else because there are people on this board that think I can actually fish: I had hooked into the four fish below the island and already made a few drifts on the Sunburst side of the island. So I had already covered the water you went over and the big side of the island had plenty of time to rest by the time I went up the small side. It was just coincidental that the fish shut off for me when you went through. Just some ribbing for ya, and a great excuse for me but really don't tell anyone.
  12. Thanks to my lack of sunscreen that was pretty descriptive of my Saturday. ....and I like Cricket, forgot to hit the sarcasm button on that post.
  13. Yes, That was me that you jinxed. I only caught 8 or 9 the rest of the day! Seriously though it was good to meet you though, would've introduced myself but didn't want to cut into your guide trip. Hope you guys did good! I had a good day and caught one interesting fish. I will post a report beginning of the week when I'm not posting from my phone.
  14. What types of applications would you be using them in? I personally use Berkley Vanish in 6 or 8 lb for small and lightweight rigs. It casts fine with out building it into a leader. If I am throwing something heavier and cannot turn it over with a single strand of Vanish I twist it into a leader. There is a very good thread with a video link around here some where. That is the method I use. For throwing big heaver streamers I use the same twisting technique and have had good luck with 20lb mono. It is probably over kill for most applications but I already had a big spool of it laying around. Hope this helps and you can also use the search function built in here or Google to find other threads on the site (to use Google follow your search terms with "site:www.ozarkanglers.com/forums"). I prefer to use Google to do a general search of the site because of the preview of text that is displayed under the title.
  15. I appreciated the "Barney Fife" title of the image Gavin.
  16. I thought Bing wasn't supposed to give you search overload?!
  17. I am sorry Scudz, I meant "winning duh" as a compliment, as in you guys were definitely winning by catching the fish pictured. It was my attempt at a humorous continuation of what I thought were Charlie Sheen references (trout blood instead of tiger blood). It's not that I don't like you, i guess it's just not that I am as funny as I think I am . http://www.facebook....205807269431520 http://www.cnbc.com/id/42404965 Sorry, another attempt at humor - If everyone pointed out my type-o's Phil wouldn't have any bandwidth left I am sorry that I have made you feel this way. I hope you understand that it was a miscommunication and on my end for that matter. The first post was indeed a compliment. You posted pictures of you guys catching fish that I dream of catching. My name is Jason, and I, like you, find it exponentially more rewarding to catch fish on the fly. I think we would get along great (on here as long as I make my posts more clear and) on the river just the same. If we ever get the chance to fish together I would consider it an honor, and I will bring John Barleycorn. Just to clarify - there is no sarcasm in my apologies.
  18. Thanks all. It was a great time!
  19. Awesome! Always good to read reports of getting family involved. I look forward to the pics but good luck getting the camera back.
  20. Might I ask what fly you use to catch these 22 foot river monsters, oh Great One?
  21. Quit reading what you want to and read what is typed Cricket. The man said Ozark Anglers - not Ozark Anglers Forums. There now we're even for the Ginger comments Phil - I have seen on sites of different content where they have a short blurb and one photograph from the recent happenings. You might consider one warm water "feature" and one cold water as well (or more of each?). That would catch a lot of your incoming traffic's attention and also get them into the article or how to sections that the link would take them to to view the full content. That would let them know that the section was there immediately and odds are they would look around in that section more as well as others. You have a great site with great content and if people know about it they will utilize it. I mean if some guy Googles something about Table Rock bass and comes to the OA front page and see's a blurb about B&B's 29 pound winning bag he is going to click on it. I think the same would go for the large rainbows and browns that are produced in our Ozark waters.
  22. WINNING, DUH!!!
  23. Fat bottom girls make the world go ' round... Welcome aboard! What sorts of fishing did you do in Alaska? One of the regulars on here guides in Alaska part of the year.
