Let's Go Royals!! I started following the Royals in 2002 when I began dating my now wife who is from the KC area. It has been a hard row to hoe. Never thought I would see them in the playoffs, much less the WS. Maybe this will subside all the heckles about my Royals hat by all the Cardinals fans here in a Mountain Home.
I have a 30' x 40' shop that holds all of my duck hunting stuff, but just barely. I have actually got to the point where the last couple years I havent bought much except for shells each year. I do need a couple dozen diver decoys though.
I was shocked when I looked at my phone this morning. I went to bed after the 7th when they were down 7-3. No way thought they would score enough to win. Let's go Royals!
Ness, It sounds like you have a big part of the deal locked up if you have access to land. Scout where the ducks are using and then a dozen decoys and get hid and you will have some success. Best entry call is a haydel DR-85. You can pick one up for less than $20 at Cabelas or Rogers. I have family in the KC area and would gladly drag all my hunting stuff up during season and go with you.
Ran the duck boat last week for the first time since January. Everything seems to be in working order. Just finishing up getting the dog through hand singnals and blind retrieves which is gonna be nice for this season. Gonna re-string about 6 dozen decoys. Need to find some early geese to get after here in a couple weeks. Anticipation is building.
Looks great. I am down to one or two bags of duck in the freezer. How do you prepare your ducks for the grill? Any particular seasonings?
Counting the days unitl dove and early teal season.
When I am fishing artificials my go to lures for the white river are a Rapala CD7 or CD9 (brown trout or rainbow trout pattern) or an spinner like a panther martin.
The difference is that a "REAL" football player can go sit on the bench for a couple plays and recover. How many running backs and wide receivers do you see touch their helments to get taken out after a 25 yard run. Soccer players go for 45-50 minutes without a break. The dramatics are just an excepted way to allow you and your teammates to grab a short breath. No timeouts or huddles to catch your breath or regroup.
Dodged alot of bullets. Midfielders were shakey and Beasley was suspect also. Glad they responded and got the win. Looking forward to the match Sunday. Maybe Wondo will be a replacement for Altidore.
The Buffalo National River runs into the White River between Cotter and Norfork. Only motors below 10hp allowed. All public around the river so there are plenty of gravel bars to camp on. Excellent smallmouth fishery.
I live in Mountain Home and have bought several houses with assistance from the people at Gilbert. They are very knowledgeable about the area real estate. If you have specific questions about the area free to give me a shout. howerton.matt@gmail.com. No upland hunting in the area besides a couple of released bird outfits, but we do have a few ducks that we chase during season.
Based on current conditions can anyone recommend a Friday through Sunday float trip for this weekend. Was headed to the Buffalo, but levels are on the rise. Not sure it will be fishable by Friday. Thanks.
Plenty of places to fish around RusVegas with a canoe or kayak. Many coves on Dardanelle, Lake Atkins, Pottsville Watershed, The Piney, Illinois Bayou. Have a blast. I grew up there and wished I would have spent more time fishing.
2001 Xpress 1650DB boat with 2001 Mercury 25hp motor. Minnkota FCTM. Hyrdoturf, Mudbuddy Quip Flip Blind. Located in Mountain Home. $5000. Text or Call 870-321-2559 or howerton.matt@gmail.com for pictures and more info.
Nice end to the season. I ended with a solo hunt with the pup and a couple of green wing teal. I hunted primarily around Mountain Home this year for the first time. Not as many trips to Northeast Arkansas was actually nice not having to race to a hole and deal with 20 trucks at the ramp. I enjoyed my season much more and my wife enjoyed me being home at night to help with the kiddos. Already looking forward to next season. Thanks for all the reports. If anyone wants to share a blind next year just hollar.
Nice Finish. It was nice to hear all the reports on the board this year. My wife was glad season was over and I am needing to catch up on some chores around the home front.
