  1. Mark! Stop right now. This fly-fishing stuff is dangerous. Once you get started you can't go back. My late father-in-law gave me his fly fishing gear before he passed away. I just wanted to get a feel for it. We fished the NFOW River last fall and I was OK but this year Brian Wise took us in his drift boat and I am not the same. The next week I picked up a spinning rod to fish my pond and it was so .......insufficient.
  2. My buddy Bob told me he uses the "improved clinch." That appears to be a palomar knot with an extra granny.
  3. Is this knot called something else? http://www.fieldandstream.com/photos/gallery/fishing/bass/where-fish/2009/02/strongest-fishing-knots I lost a fish, yesterday, and I believe the palomar knot I tied came undone (the end was in a series of loops). I had an incident with a circular saw a few years back and the two fingers of my right hand, basically, are sticks. But I can tie this San Diego knot easily enough if I keep each first finger in the loops.
  4. I can't believe I did not think of that. That is priceless.
  5. Did it occur to anyone how melancholy we will all be when Trophy catches that skunk and this thread will end.
  6. I liked it, thanks.
  7. I was of the opinion that we should have drafted some talented offensive linemen before we drafted Bradford. Curt Warner got beat to crap and so did Bulger. I was concerned Bradford could not stay healthy. I am even surprised he showed up to work on Sundays.
  8. I just spit out my coffee.
  9. I am afraid this topic will die when the skunk dies of old age. But it will be an entertaining ride.
  10. Where were you with that advice thirty years ago? I sure could have used it.
  11. And I love the way those tables come out.
  12. Woodman, Is that refrigerator AC or DC? I plan on building a teardrop to put on that property I just acquired. I am already tired of putting up the tent. I plan on making the sides bead and cove cedar to match my canoe, which will be on a rack on top, and stainless steel top.
  13. What I don't understand is the desire for the MDC to assume control. Aren't we all resenful of them intervening in our freedoms, too? What if they do take over and put elk there?
  14. You know that is the bait for me. Since I don't catch any fish I don't need the hooks. And without hooks I wont be getting the bait tangled up in everything under the sun.
  15. Amen to that, Feathers. Besides, it's HER dog and they are a package deal.
  16. There will be no lead. I can't afford any more brain cells.
  17. Jerry, I am not expecing any issues but one must practice due dilligence.
  18. Thanks bfishn. I went to that link and called the number. It is a state agency. They are sending me a kit in the mail. I just need to get it back to them after taking the sample quickly. And there is no charge.
  19. Thanks JD. It is an 8-10 inch pipe. I can't tell how deep it is. I see water about fifteen feet down. I will drop a sinker from a fishing pole and measure its depth.
  20. The sleeve looks fine. If I pull the cap off I can look down and see water.
  21. I only wanted it tested for bacteria but have not considered lead.
  22. I just bought 20 acres south of Ironton that has NF on two sides. There is a well and I do want to get the water tested. I have been researching this process and am now confused. I know I need a kit but that is about it. Has anyone gone through this process, recently? And I want to install a mechanical pump. Does anyone have any recommendations?
  23. Hey that is cool.
  24. I came out one morning this week and some of my corn stalks were laying on the ground. It must have been elephants because.......all the stalks had their ears to the ground. Well enough of that, here is what I have going on a half-mile from the city limits: I have picked one tomato from a plant I bought from an Amish farmer at Tower Grove Farmer's Market, one carrot and three beans. I did not grow cucumbers because I managed to put up enough pickles last year for two years. I planted the broccoli late and although the plants are large there are no florets on them, as yet. Hopefully they will get in the spirit in the fall. I do expect to be picking a lot of beans and tomatoes here shortly. My only pest problem so far is rabbits. I should fence in everything except the tomatoes.
  25. I replaced the seats in my Fin and Fun with Tempress High Back Navistyle. They are a lot more comfortable than the original seats. They were cheaper than Atwood and made in the USA and Atwood is not.
