  1. It is only on the MLB network, today. There is MLBTV whereby one can watch on a computer from the Internet and there is the MLB package that cable.satellite providers can offer. I don't know if they are the same. Anyway I am imprisoned in my cubicle watching MLB Gameday. I wish SOMETHING would break in the field so I can get out of here and listen to it.
  2. Is this the accepted method for idenfifying a pre-Rapala Wart? By-the-way; after one and a half innings there is no score. Waino has two strikeouts.
  3. Chief, dude, I took this picture my last trip out with the canoe on the Bourbeuse:
  4. And one more thing on this. The stay at Sunburst was perfect! We floated on Saturday but that fish I caught was a hundred feet from camp on a nymph bought from Justin.
  5. I finally got an opportunity to get my May Vacation in, my April crappie fishing trip with my buddies Rick and Kevin and September fishing trip with my buddy Bob so now I am caught up. I took the boat to Wappappello the first of the week. While on the boat ramp the brake pedal when all the way to the floor. The line from the proportional valve to the left front rusted through. Now I have put a boat in with no brakes, before, (you put it in Drive and hit the gas when you want to stop) but I would have to fix it before we left so under the truck I go. By now I had five shade tree mechanics and only four shade trees. I had a 12-inch piece of brake line with a flare on one end and a compression fitting. Two said replace the brake line using the compression fitting, and two said install the brake line on the proportional valve and crimp it shut. The fifth shade tree mechanic did not give a "darn" - that was Kevin. Now I saw many three legged dogs and they got around just fine so I went with three brakes and crimped the new line. The fishing the first two days was tough. The fish were scattered and small. On the third day we managed to find some perfect crappie cover and caught a few all but one exactly 8-1/2 inch. Kevin did catch the only keeper. Later in the week Bob and I got to the NFOW for my first fly fishing adventure. That was a unique experience. I did manage to catch my first trout on a fly rod. No pictures -- I was not about to get my cell phone out standing in that water. I created another post on this, earlier.
  6. I got this reel respooled at T Hargrove and we made our way to the NFOW. That is a tough river to learn to fly fish but I did catch one rainbow on the Heddon. My father-in-law would be happy. To answer the question as to how it casts I really can't answer that having no previous experience. But now the question is: Am I hooked on this?
  7. ness, I don't know how the Heddon casts but will find out a little later than sooner. My trip to Jerry's Tackle in Highland was for nought. They did not have any DT6. It appears a trip to T Hargrove is in the future.
  8. Gavin, I built that canoe a couple of years ago. I needed a white background and those plans were handy. I posted on the canoe at the time. I hope this link functions.
  9. Gavin, Thanks for this information. I am in North St. Louis County but I have no plans on selling these. It is just that I have been dragging my buddy Bob (who IS an avid fly fisherman -- at least he looks like it with all of the gear he has) bass fishing for quite a few years and he wants to fish the NFOW this year. I AM going to put the Medalist on the Heddon. I work in Fairview Heights, IL and am heading to Jerry's Tackle in Highland, during lunch, and go about getting the Medalist spooled. Attached is a couple pictures of the Heddon and one of both reels.
  10. Thanks Wayne. I do plan on buying flies there -- I just want to get setup and work on this before going.
  11. Thanks for this.
  12. I am honored to inherit the fishing gear of my late father-in-law. He was a good man. I am glad I did get the opportunity to get to know him – I just wish we had more time. My buddy Bob and I plan on leaving my bass boat at home and head to Sunburst on the NFOW for our fall fishing trip. I got out his fly rods and reels. I have two reels: a Pflueger Medalist and a South Bend Open-A-Matic (I know the general opinion of these but I have used it a bit in Marble Creek and I like it). I have three rods: South Bend/359-9’ Shakespeare/A13627-9’ Heddon/#30-Trout-8’ D-HDH My questions are: Should I replace the line on the reels? Can I determine the taper of the line by looking at it? How do I tell the weight of the rods? The only thing written on the rods are what I noted above. And any other advice would be appreciated.
  13. Tandem spinner bait.
  14. I am near-sighted and I get my eyes checked after each deer season because there has to be a reason I never see any deer.
  15. eg, Hold the Ctrl key and move the mouse wheel up and down and that will change the resolution on the web page.
  16. Sooo.....they were.....uh......shooting the moon, eh.
  17. Wrench, That Lone Star is pure class.
  18. Uhhhh, no.......its hidden, ya know.
  19. Yes, the motor had been overhauled in '02. I kept the outboard from the Quachita that I overhauled in '92 so I have two fully functional identical outboards.
  20. The old boat was a 1972 Quachita. Here it is on Mark Twain Lake. It had stick steering but I manufactured the console after I bought the 75-horse Chrysler. I had to abandon the boat -- the transom rotted and the floor was water soaked. The cap did not separate from the hull. It broke my heart. But I was able to find the boat of my dreams in Chicago, last year. A 1979 Chrysler Fin and Fun.
  21. I have done it successfully. It WAS a bit ugly, though. If I recall the shield is one conductor and much be joined and the center conductor is the other and must be joined, also. Solder the connections and use shrink wrap everywhere.
  22. Oh no I am serious. I caught a small bluegill on a wee craw and that was it.
  23. I understand it is a custom around here to conceal locations that produce fish. But there doesn't appear to be any concern about advertising areas that don't produce fish. So....I put my cedar-stripper in on the Bourbuese at Reikers Ford, paddled upstream a mile and a half and did not catch jack-sh(poop)it. But it was a great day and that canoe is a hoot to paddle.
  24. It just ain't right that mammals seek the company of reptiles!
