  1. Are there rules in "regular" bass tournaments excluding Flies? I've never caught a 20# limit on fly rod, but 10-12# is not that uncommon. Haven't found that fly to catch 4# bass consistently.
  2. Eagle watching was great. How was the fishing?
  3. Fly Bass Tournament?
  4. I fished Barclay Monday. Water was up and little off colour. I did not turn over any rocks. In hindsight, I should have and will next time. Fishing was slow as in nothing.
  5. Stayed at Point Royale this weekend, threw in the fly rod just in case I had a few minutes. Not at all familiar with the area but had always heard of it. I guess they weren't running any water, it seemed more lake like. Fished for about an hour and caught 3 beautiful trout. One was nearing 15" others 12ish. Plenty of fight and lots of color. It was cold and not many fisherman. Looking forward to returning. All the trout were bigger and fatter than any I catch on the Niangua. However, I do love fishing the Niangua.
  6. hmmmmmmmmm...may have to check out Empire park!!!
  7. And so, the thread ends. Merry Christmas.
  8. Didn't notice what I had signed in under. Pocomoacres is Dennis Boatman. We are one and the same. Fished Niangua on Tuesday and had a great day. Caught 7 or 8. A couple were 12"ish. Nothing really small. Brought 2 home for the skillet and they were yummy. Trout Almondine, cornbread, and Baked Potato. Next time down, will get to Barclay.
  9. Thank You! Those are bigguns...Definite keepers...the fish aren't bad either....
  10. ...wondering how many just googled Mariko Izumi? Not me....................................................yet..
  11. Very cool...however my testicles will never be the same!
  12. How about The Reaper as one...and Beetle Spin.
  13. I grew up out west fishing in the Sierras. We used to catch Golden Trout, but only above 10,000 feet. Only a few lakes had them, and they did not seem to be present in lakes that had Brook Trout.
  14. Wasn't me, though I was there in spirit...
  15. May hit it Thursday...if so will report...
  16. I like cake....
  17. No fair googling!
  18. Fishing in Destin can be fun and inexpensive. I fish off the jetties and have success. Never know what you will catch, but my favorite is Spanish Mackeral. A guy showed me a rig using a plastic bubble filled partially with water, trebel hook, and a drinking straw. Cast it out as far as possible and crank FAST. You cannot reel it in to fast. They will hammer it. I would have never believed using a straw as a lure. I think White Bass would go for it when they are chasing shad. I will try it.
  19. Next in the line of progression is tying flies...it never ends...
  20. If I were to go fishing today, which I am not, it would be "Cowboy Christmas Ball", Michael Martin Murphey...tis the season...maybe Friday...
  21. I remember catching pike all the way up Sac river all the way to Hwy 13!!!!
  22. 18# Northern Pike on 4lb test and no steel leader. I was about 15 and we were in Manitoba. Years later I found out that was a world line class record. Probably not now, but still fun to know.
  23. If they are passing through...I wonder where they are going?
  24. We have had a date for New Years at Pointe Royale for months. It will be my first trip to Taney in 20 years. Yes, I know, I only live 90 minutes away, but this trout thing is new to me. May drop by for a visit, but will be with lots of family members and time will be limited. Not much to offer you, but maybe I can pick up a few tips. Hoping for good weather
