  1. Sad. Prayers to the family.
  2. Since I ruined my fav, ole Hickory filet knife, I've picked up two that serve me well. A dexter from Academy and the laminated handle browning filet knife. Don't know if it matters but both are made in USA.
  3. Too bad I don't have more room. Would love to have another bird dog. You'll have no issues finding a good home for her.
  4. We've become frustrated with the situation because we are trying to rationalize or place logic where it doesn't exist. Why this happened? It's a situation where we attempt to affix reason to unreasonable people. Alcohol and ignorance is nothing new.
  5. The predators follow the pods wherever they wander. Process of burning more hydrocarbons and using that side scan. TR can be unforgiving or a blast when you find them.
  6. Rarely have I been able to retreive a jerk bait successfully with a plug knocker. Buy a good quality extendable pole retreiver like the DotLine extendable lure retreiver. It will pay for itself in a short period of time. Also works good during spawn when your pitching shallow.
  7. There wasa an article in the Sdfd News-Leader not long ago about how the boats are made to throw the largest wake possible and then the don't just ski or wake board behind it. They surf with a surf board behind them plowing along at about 5- 15 mph.
  8. Hope the best for them. Gas right at 3.5/gal, entry at 200. thinking about the math involved hurts my head and wallet.
  9. Well that answered my other post for Ned rigging question. Stretches that senko use out.
  10. Read some of the posts about cooler water and fish yet to spawn. With that said, has anyone caught any shallow soaking a senko?
  11. Help with what a Ned rig is?
  12. Quit counting how many shorts I tore up on a wart. Just not in the right place at the right time. All in dirty water. Caught one fish in clean water around point 8. Didn't take long for this dummy to figure the math.
  13. The refreshing thing about these 2 guys dragging that nice sack is that they weren't a pro or a guide that cashed that check.
  14. You get in there bro. Don't let TR winds bother you or push you up against somebodies outboard in a slip. Things happen fast when you fool a toad around a dock and your by yourself. You tend to forget about gelcoat long enough to rub. I take some pride in my sled. But it's your ride, do what you want with it. Best foot man on a front deck can't predict everything, never say never it's too absolute.
  15. That's the crazy thing about that. Fish several slips and nothing, go to the next slip and wear your arm off. Catch so quick that your partner can do nothing but either net or hold the boat up to the dock by the supports to keep the boat from rubbing. That's why I keep those small gunwale docking protectors in the boat. All it takes is one time for someone to see how to bust them on a dock and their hooked too. It can be fast and furious esp with a school of them. Also, I respect people's property floating on the water when pitching spoons around boats. I try to think that it is my sled floating where I'm pitching. You can even pick up the occasional jack or slab crap around docks. I measured a 15" crap 2 yrs ago on a dock over deep water up the James arm. Sorry folks no pics on that one. It went back in. My left arm gets cramps in it after a few hours of docks. But I wouldn't recommend this for anyone, as your boat or motor has the potential for getting beat up if your not careful.
  16. Hotprops in Ozark mo. John Clark 417-581-5300. Straight Honest man and one heck of a prop pounder. No need to mark your prop.
  17. Did you try any lipless cranks or spoons?
  18. Thank you for that update.
  19. Try a white or silver 7/8 oz war eagle jigging spoon.
  20. Call Fred Ulrich (Ulrich marine)417-272-1841, the worst that could happen is he'd say no. Fred bleeds quicksilver. http://www.ulrichmarine.com/ulrichmarine/republic/DealerFiles/default.asp
  21. I had just changed out the LU to an HPDI LU, hadn't had a chance to try my 26" tempest +. Ended up spinning to high, returned to the old trusty A45. Short stuff on the deck is drying his shell. Don't worry about lugging the 12+ poles without da prop, the 36V motorguide scoots too.
  22. Winter fishing TR; one spinning pole for grub/JB, one Bait-caster pole for spoon, one Bait-caster pole for jig/blade/crank. But, we know this pole limit isn't realistic for us to keep just three poles in the sleds. I usually have two spinning poles rigged with JB, two spinning poles rigged with grubs, one BC rigged with blade, one BC rigged with jig, three BC rigged with different cranks (wart, shad rap and DDs), one BC rigged with spoon, one BC rigged with a scrounger/swimming Senko, then I have a specific spinning pole rigged wit da DS. I usually have around 12 poles total in the sled at any one time. This is just for winter. Spring, Summer and Fall are a different mess.
  23. Thank you James.
  24. Try a swimming senko on that scrounger. You'll want to buy a tube of super glue to keep it on, those senkos are a 1-2 fish soft plastic. But, guaranteed to bend your pole.
  25. If you have your scroll speed turned up for spooning or DS for that matter, you will not see arches but streaks. That's what I call it, streaking......
