  1. Just saw the weather forecast for down on the rock. All you Ozark Anglers that live down there be safe! They said the flooding could be akin to 2008 & 2011. Yikes!
  2. I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas before everything gets busy, busy, busy, starting tomorrow. I hope Santa brings you all the fishing paraphernalia of your dreams! God bless and may big bass be dancing in your dreams!
  3. Berkley makes the flicker shad and those things work for me and they're only about 4 bucks. I know it's not a wart knockoff but it's a good bait.
  4. Just my thoughts. No harm, no foul. Maybe I just yearn for a simpler way of life. I like to float in my boat with my rod in my hand and enjoy the solitude.
  5. Just received a flyer in the mail tonight stating that Bass Pro Shops will be open all day long on thanksgiving day starting at 8 am! and obviously on black Friday. REI outdoors on the other hand is closed on Thanksgiving AND on black Friday, telling everyone to go take a hike. Sorry, but basspro may have just lost my business. IMHO, I believe that SUCKS! REI will be getting alot more of my business. I will be with my family on Thanksgiving and Friday. I guess you all know where I stand. Thank you for letting me rant and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. God Bless........... Bob.
  6. I believe that I have to disagree with this article that states that most of the fish were not sport fish. As I posted further up this thread that last Wednesday on the James, 90 percent of what I saw was sport fish. Walleye, paddle fish, LM,SM,crappie, white bass....... 10 percent carp and suckers. Sorry, don't know what else to tell you...... That's what I saw..... Made me sick!
  7. On the James this morning. From point 11 down stream to the small island at the bend, dozens and dozens of Fish are floating. Most were walleye, one about 24". All were keepers. Lots of K's and LM. One LM about 4#s. All other bass floaters were keeps. 2 paddle fish, one I estimated at 30#s. Lot of white bass floaters. Some carp & suckers but mostly sport fish. Been like this since last Wednesday when I got down here. Worst today than any other. Whatever it is, it's not over. I've done "okay" fishing this trip, but I sure wish I could have caught what I see floating!
  8. I am coming down on the 19th for a couple of weeks. Sounds like I may be fishing pretty shallow with the thermocline at 20' and very little O2 below that. Thoughts on patterns? This is quite a change up and way out of the ordinary.
  9. When I click on the 3 bars in the upper right hand corner, I get nothing. I am assuming that's my menu. (Droid)
  10. Bobby b, congratulations on your retirement. I envy you. The wife and I have been vacationing on the rock for 33 years. We are coming down for two weeks on the 19th. We are planning on buying a house and retiring down there. I can't wait! I have about 2 1/2 years to go. ( yes, I am counting the days]. Maybe I will try to take in some of those sites this year.
  11. Looking at the lake level graph, it looks like TR is 10 feet high! Is that right? I'm coming down in about 3 weeks. Am I going to be fishing bushes or will the usual techniques for late August still apply. Is there alot of debris in the water. I am staying up by the Hideaway Marina on the James.
  12. I knew this was the best place to go. You guys are awesome. I am going with the costas . Tuna Alley with green lenses. They make them with readers(2.50)which is exactly what I need. Thanks again.
  13. Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I have to make them bifocal, which I can do.
  14. Well, my $400 prescription sunglasses are on the bottom of prince william sound in alaska.( fishing up there last week) As I am coming down to the rock in about 3 weeks, I need a new pair. I am looking for a brand recommendation and just want to put those self adhering "cheaters" on them. This is the best consumers report site I can think of for new shades! Thanks, Bob
  15. My thoughts exactly. I'm happy with my catch rate when I'm down there. Nothing makes me happier than catch'in them and putt'in them back though.
  16. Just received my new copy of bassmaster magazine. There is an article in it listing the top 100 bass lakes in the nation and table rock is not on it. I was rather suprised. Has it gone down hill that much? Thoughts?
  17. Oh No, another ethanol thread. I enjoy reading all the comments but I just become more befuddled than before. Carry on!
  18. Fished the ned rig in ontario last June and picked up a 27" walleye on the little guy, along with many other ones. Seems to be good everywhere!
  19. Hideaway marina is a good little spot for gas. Not sure if it's open yet though. I always stay at the Hideaway resort next door. How about Jills BBQ in Lampe, we always enjoy that place when we're down there. Point 12 up the James has always been productive for me.
  20. I have been researching new locaters and have decided to go with a lowrance elite 7 chirp on the helm and a elite 5 chirp on the bow. I can buy this unit with navonics gold included with the package. I know there are other map cards available for the lowrance. Should I go with the navonics or save my money and go with one of the other maps? I've never had a locater with map capabilities so I am a little confused. I am excited to get this new unit and try it out, but I want to make the right decision. I am confident I am in the right place to get an answer. All the knowledge all you folks contribute to this forum is incredible. Thanks in advance. Bob.
  21. Time to purchase 2 new fish finders for my boat. Running a lowrance and a bird now. Both about 12 years old, so not really state of the art. Question is......lowrance, humminbird or garmin? I suppose thats like asking ford, chevy or dodge. I am looking for locators in the $500 range. Thanks.
  22. Great report. There is nothing I love more than fishing with my son. I started him fishing when he was 3 and he never looked back. He's 26 now and is teaching me things.
  23. God bless ya Jim......Merry Christmas to you and your family. Sorry to hear about your recent loss.
  24. No....."John Lennon" glasses......certianly not wiggle warts!
  25. What is everybodys favorite shallow running square bill cranks?
