Florocarbon is a heavy line that when put on a spinning reel impedes the passage of the line through the butt guide as it comes of the face of the reel. There are videos that attest to this and are incredible to watch. Braid, nano or mono are best for a spinning reel. I'll only run floro on a baitcaster.

When I come down to the rock for my 10 day trip every year, I have no control over weather.It is what it is.I dont have the luxury of picking the best barometer days. Just have to hope I get a front or coming through to turn on the bite. Maybe one of these days l'll have the time to barometer watch and pull the trigger whenever I want.

Getting to watch something like that makes the trip worthwhile even if the fishing was slow!

Weclome champ. Been coming down to the rock for many years on vacation. Ive gotten partial to the James River area. 2 to 3 years to retirement and I and my wife are hoping to be "locals".

I too am heading down to the rock on wednesday for 10 days. Glad to see this thread as I was going to start the same one this weekend. Think the drop shot will still work or will the cooler high water keep them up in the bushes. Staying at a place around point 11up the james. The James must be pretty stained(or muddy) by now.

Wow, It must be FUN to cruise around in your boat using stolen gas tanks,fishing equipment and boating gear. Sometimes I wonder how people sleep at night. For years I always left my gear in boat. I am coming down in August for 2 weeks and use a private dock at a resort. Same place I always go for years, never had a problem. Always left all my gear in boat. All my rods are custom built, build them myself, I certainly dont need those ripped off! Guess l'll have to be more diligent.

I have a finder on the helm and the bow of my 20' boat. Terrova trolling motor w/trans in nose. If I run both at the same time will they interfere with each other. Thats what I heard????

Berkley,Been going down to the rock for 30 years. Missed one here or there. Have gone down every month march through october.Just have to fish a little differently every month. Wife and I are "draging"our now grown kids with us this year..Going 3rd week in August.

Berkley,I to am from the chicagoland area and generally go down to TR once a year for 10 days.Would love to retire down there.I have a sneaking suspision your talking about Lake Geneva,which I also frequent. Just a quess. So, howdy neighbor!
