  1. That's OK, I can see it perfectly in my mind. Glad you found enough to eat.

    What's Cooking?

No words needed for that one sir!
  3. Please tell me you have a photo of a scored, perfectly cooked, sucker fillet setting next to a pile of fried taters and onions. I can smell it now, mixed with a tinge of wood smoke from the fire.
  4. There IS a difference between a county sherif investigation and a major federal agency investigation.

Shoot Ness it looks good to me, I like cold hamburgers. Been under the weather myself and I gotta admit the thought of good greasy double quarter pounder with cheese is making my stomach growl. Dad and I used to buy Whoppers for 99 cents each if we made it to springfield during the spring fishing season and freeze them, have them for lunch while fishing. Tried doing it with fries the first time, that was no bueno!
  7. As for boat operator training, you can y5each, explain, show videos etc. But the lions share of the learning comes from driving a boat. Bad conditions (wind/ current for a boat or snow/rain for cars) it is even more a hands on skill, which we as human's often often over estimate our abilities to react and make judgement decisions.
  8. The majority of the ones I have been involved in a search or recovery it wouldn't have mattered, the life jacket wasnt worn. On a large body of water, river, or ocean it would be a fabulous idea.
  9. People who are willing to steal a shipment of guns and incur the attention of ATF, FBI and all the other acronyms are not well known for long term critical thinking.
  10. And they usually hit that shallower water at sundown. Not to say that there can't be some around anytime but sundown is the magic time usually. Temp and daylight also play into it but more of a trigger for the spawn.
  11. To be the devils advocate, what could FLW do to make the boat operators safer?
  12. I would think that the original driver would have been the first suapect. More likely it was a friend of his that dropped the load and called him. Even Texas Rednecks are smarter than that, aren't they?
  13. At what point does it become the responsibility of FLW to ensure the boat operators are safe. Beyond requiring them have whatever state mandated training requirement, insurance, and taking action on reported unsafe operation I don't know what they could do.
  14. Eric and Derrick White were located at Redneck Heaven Restaurant & Bar in Arlington, Texas, . that sentence right there is funny. And guys don't just drive from Texas on a whim to rob a UPS truck in MO on a whim. Someone who either hauled that load there or knew of it tipped them off and will sharing the punishment.
  15. It happns, I don't turkey hunt anymore but have set on or smashed with my boots more than a few. One year I hunted mushrooms by wandering randomly around and either throwing my walking stick or pretending I was calling a turkey and then look very closely around that spot. Found some too.
  16. I believe in both cases you mentioned it was not MDC but private game farms raising white-tail deer is where the disease got its start in those areas. Prion diseases have been around for a long time, however there is a LOT of unknowns with them. Let a few cases of transfer from infected deer to humans occur and then I don't know what then.
  17. Goohers, groundhogs etc. Would have some stones in the pile. The fine material looks like ants to me.
  18. Oh man that photo makes me feel spring for sure.
  19. Mr giggles are you in the Polk, St. Clair, Cedar county area. If so we we can't be too far apart.
  20. Definitely down load a picture of them.
  21. You have to kill them off before they die. As far as I am aware only one instance of a maquqe monkey getting infected from eating CWD contaminated meat. No increase in reported human prion diseases from areas with lots of CWD.
  22. Depending on weather the crappie should be spawning. Don't worry about any other style of fishing, toss jigs at the bank or around spawning cover and you will catch crappie, whites, and the occasional walleye. Scout an area th evening before, roost a couple birds while catching a few crappie. Next morning slip in quietly and speak that language of love to them. Then pick up a few morels that you nearly stepped on, load your turkey, and morels in the boat, maybe catch a few more crappie on the way back, and enjoy the "Missouri Spring Hat Trick" google earth is your friend, don't forget where you parked your boat either!
  23. There is a ton of public hunting ground, Bentonville and Hickory Counties both. Persobally I would much rather crappie fish and mushroom hunt than turkey hunt. However there are places accessible by boat and some not. Some on Truman Lake is smack in some of the best crappie fishing around as well as white, hybrids and walleye.
  24. I am impacted by the CWD findings. My house is within 2 miles of one of the latest positive tests. I have signed up for the winter culling as they are calling it to be allowed to shoot an unlimited number of deer in Feb and March, still awaiting he packet in the mail. The basic plan is to reduce the number of deer in those core areas to reduce the chance of CWD spreading. However since the prions essentially are almost indestructible I don't see any other plan but to keep he population suppressed for the forseable future, which sucks for deer hunting around my place.
  25. I use the plastic gripping pliers too, works well. If it's a walleye etc. I net him. I can tell you that cursing LOUDLY doesn't help. Does make you feel better but when you run down its still. A decent pair of small bolt cutters that the jaws come all the way together on is by far the easiest. I have a pair but they are never in the boat, which leads back to.the part where cussing doesn't help.
