  1. Them cow patty burgers were big rascals. I haven't been there in a long time, don't know if still there or not. I never noticed folks being rude as a rule, but walleye fishing was tough because of the heavy line that littered the area.
  2. I heard on the news 2 bodies were located and only one still missing, the driver.
  3. Saw on the news last night the victim at TR was found. But still at least one was missing from flash flooding in Branson. Very sad.
  4. Well of course we will. I have such a hillbilly twang at times voice text just doesn't work very well.
  5. Negative, ramps are open and there will be people swimming, guaranteed. Lake is down roughly 10 feet from where it peaked at, and still another 10 plus to go to get normal, but fully accessible and useable.
  6. The entire lake side of the park is easy to fish from the bank. Of course it likely be full of boats and folks swimming.
  7. If several of us get them I bet we could make that mental image of 40 snakes chasing come true. No amount of puppies and kittens thoughts would erase that memory.
  8. I wish I had a large (thinking at least 6 feet long) remote controlled cotton mouth snake, I would pick a few helpful volunteers and we would stalk Vernon and see if we could trap him in a cove with it.
  9. Lol, you would have to swim. That area is completely underwater right now.
  10. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/mo/nwis/uv/?site_no=06921350&PARAmeter_cd=00065,63160,00060 It is, here is the USGS site we use, updates every 15 minutes I belive. This gauge is located about a quarter mile below the dam. Not sure exactly how long it will run 3500, probably mid June before normal-ish. I could see us dropping to be 2800 or less to slowly step it down as we get closer to normal.
  11. Pomme does seem to have a regular kill, the big ones have been virus related. Fish don't have a clue that the water is better a couple miles away. We tend to see the dead ones down by the dam or in the south facing coves as the wind will.concentrate them there. I have never been able to understand the virus kill though, why doesn't it go downstream and into Truman also, but it doesnt. The population is doing well right now and should be growing fast.
  12. Well message when you are planning on going, I can stay home that day.
  13. I sort of agree but if we start limiting it to "need" then we are all in trouble.
  14. Yep and as they get bigger it gets more fun. Many a sucky day has been saved by white bass action.
  15. There were some when the water first came up, but haven't seen any recently, or at least not enough to concern me.
  16. I will give you a dollar for it right now.
  17. Must have been one somewhere thus weekend. Saw several rigs in Spfld on Friday and this evening the highway is full of them. Everything from retrofitted trackers to big barges, electric, outboards, fans and every combination there of. And enough lights to turn the night into broad daylight. I haven't watched the news so just wondering where it was.
  18. I am assuming by "all black bass" you mean all largemouth? Largemouth, spotted bass and smallmouth are different species of black bass.
  19. Has the victim from table rock been recovered yet?
  20. I live in the giant metropolis of Humansville. Right between Pomme and Stockton. That cell that pounder my house slid NNE and missed the lake/dam mostly. By the time I got to Elkton there weren't even any puddles.
  21. Already at my house, thunder/lightning and raining like the proverbial cow whizzing on a flat rock, coming down in sheets. Looks like I will burn a little midnight oil tonight.

You can also inject the fresh ham and let it set for a few days, adds juice, flavor and cures it. I would inject it and then drop it in the brine for at least a couple days, refrigerated of course in this weather.

I will happily come and taste it for you if that would help! I also like hickory because i think it is a classic flavor. I don't like cloves in or on anything, just don't like them. I do have a jambalaya recipe that use a tiny amount of ground cloves but you can't identify them in the mix.

    What's Cooking?

I would put a nice rub on that feral hog, lay some bacon on it and put a heavy smoke followed by a long slow smore with a pan of water in the smoker. At least it has worked well on the ones I have done.
  25. Poisonous nope, venomous yes. . I like snakes but never judge anyone who deals with a snake close to home where kids or dogs are at risk. I have often thought about taking an old golf club and making a snake hook, but it would never be with me when I wanted it.
