Time and some medical drama are making it increasingly difficult for me to launch my boat solo. I know some of you guys have figured out ways to do it easier. I am contemplating using a pop and drop with a rope tied from the boat to the trailer but see an awful.lot of stories of boats floating away when the road breaks or comes loose, and I don't want to be that guy. I have plenty of rope and can tie Bowlin knots all day long, but I have found what appears to be a halter rope (1/2 inch with good snaps one each end) but is only about 4 feet long. Do you think that would be enough? Or get some good rope (not polypropelene), and make it longer utilizing the good snaps, if so how long is enough? Or other better options beside my wife's suggestion that maybe fishing alone isn't a good idea, cause that dog don't hunt for me, not yet anyway.

Brad Shockley on the Pomme forum put together regular crappie tournaments on Pomme if you aren't partial to being on stockton.

Heck I just put the little Styrofoam box into the cooler with the ice, & beer or rather gatorade. Sometimes I will swap out the dirt with dam shredded paper. It usually blows out of the boat on the way home. Besides my boat get worm dirt, fish slime, crappie nibbles, whatever mashed into the carpet on a regular basis. Sometimes after accidentally catching a catfish it will look like I have done battle with a giant slug the next day.

Beef, garlic, salt & pepper, what's not to like. I like my roasts to not be too heavily seasoned and let the beef flavor shine. I am always a sucker for a good roast whether beef or pork or even lamb. My mom used to make roasts in an electric skillet, sometimes it would get a little over done on the bottom and be carmelized along with the taters, carrots and onions. And of course gravy made from the juices left in the skillet, might have been the law in Missouri at the time to make gravy. That will make a kid grow up able to haul hay, weld up a trailer or fight the commies.

Nice, you did better than I did, only found about 20. Saving them for my wife, some days I almost need a blood transfusion by the time I get home from the blood loss. Today wasn't as bad, just need some ice on my knee.

Mmm sounds tasty, I just went the melted butter and lemon juice with whatever seasoning caught me eye route. It was darn good. Had some little zucchini chunked up with olive oil and again whatever spices seemed good and wrapped up in foil and onto the grill. And as an oddball choice some thin sliced parsnips sautéed in butter.

Had to go to town today for mower parts and at the wally world saw a nice salmon fillet. It and some baby zucchini are headed to the grill. I may need help from some of you fellers. I keep sending my wife pics of things like the morels and salmon and she is getting a little testy. I may need a shed or barn I can lay up in for a few days when she comes home. Just to be safe.

It looks great to me Mitch. I wouldn't be afraid of it. Usually meat has to be pretty stinky to be any risk.

And here they are now, plenty of Cajun in the flour, just enough to make my mouth burn a little. Biggest conundrum was what wine (only have 2) to drink with them, so I compromised and poured a double shot of Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire into a tumbler and topped it with 7 up and ice.

Well since my wife is away I guess I will make me a little snack tonight. Found a couple others that were dried up and broke them up and scattered them around the honey hole for the future crop.

Take me with you on TR, if there is a drum within a mile it will find my jig. Funny how they can hit like a crappie or bass and can put up a decent fight or none at all. I still my one and only Master Angler Award haging on my wall, the fish, Freshwater Drum from Pomme de Terre.

If it doesn't look too bad and more importantly doesn't smell bad I would take my chances, or if there is enough cut off a piece after you trim it and cook it up for yourself.

Mmmmmmm males starting to move shallow just befor dark on the upper portion of the lake? The "big happening" is ready to happen if consistent warm weather and especially warm nights would just show up and stay for more than 24 hrs.

Morel Hunting with dogs?
MOPanfisher replied to Bigcatch's topic in Mushrooms and other wild edibles
I have always thought I could take a dog and teach it to find morels. Would have to be the right dog though, something that wants a job and to please like a border collie or something. But where would be the excitement of the hunt be then. -
I will admit my SIL was sort of that way but he learns quickly and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. However if he could figure a way to get it done via computer he would.

Lover the coloration that monster.

If you take the little tube out it will only work upside down, and it won't spray out like the thinner nasal spray, at least the stuff I've used won't.
-
I haven't heard anything about bass lately. You can set the standard others have to beat that way.
-
Many times a cove or spot get re named by someone. I have named lots of spots simply because of something that happened there. Sometimes the name sticks with others, sometimes not.
-
I always seem to have several small nasal spray bottles with (basic saline spray 98 cents full) laYing around empty. Pop off the top and remove the little tube. Fill it with your favorite scent and you can drip/ooze it out with a small squeeze. Fits it about any pocket, I have used it for anise and some sort of liquid crawdad stuff, works great. Like champ there only one or two times I can point to and say it made a difference, one of them was trolling crank baits and catching walleye and whites while my buddy and two of his boys had nothing. They even made fun of me, wasn't long befor the boys had their lures in my face to be juiced and promptly started catchinf fish. Some is confidence for sure.

Look for a Fishing Hot Spots Map. Usually stores around the lake have them.

I hear ya, jerks can cast a shadow on an otherwise good trip. If he was weaving through people and boats and running over lines it a wonder someone didn't wait for him with a pocket full of rocks. Some years ago I don't remember the river not far outside Miami OK, we spring fished for whites and the number of people and boats almost made it impossible to get up on plane and run the riffles but you didn't dare run through folks lines, they would have been waiting for you at the gravel ramp under the bridge.
-
My theory is human smells especially gas and oil are bad and some scent on a lure at the very worst doesn't hurt anything. Although some of the garlic scented stuff just makes me hungry.
-
While maybe unsafe I don't know that any law was broken. I never thought twice about the guys who would run past me while wading, as long as they weren't so close I could hit them with my rod. Figured they needed to stay up on plane. Good report, some females and a couple eyes make for an excellent trip.
