  1. Fileted and fried ain't bad on drum, Cajun seasoning is my favorite. Boiling in crab boil is another, let it cool and make tacos.
  2. Gonna have to try that one.
  3. Catching smallies and a few channels for supper if you choose, dang fine way to spend a day.
  4. Appears she gave you a whuppin. Nice bass.
  5. Man a big batch of bluegill fillets sounds fabulous right now. Some skillet fried taters, take taters and fillets and some picante sauce put it all on some white bread and make a sammich, add cold beverage of choice and what a way to spend an evening.
  6. Looks a little high at River Run and Shadow Rock.
  7. We had some decent rain nothing big just steady all morning. Rivers came up a little, basically just flattened our drop out for a day, should continue dropping by tomorrow. As for predicting, I don't even look long term some days, just what is tomorrow gonna bring.
  8. New tournament, "Knifer vs. Lifer", one gives them the knife, one gives them back their life. Fish and taters to follow.
  9. FYI Bolivar Landing ramp has quite a bit of debris on it, a couple of big logs. Hopefully by mid next week the lake will have lowered enough we can get it cleaned off. Also looking to the north from the ramp out around the long shallow point there are quite a few floaters and no telling how many "almost floaters", so if you are out and about on the upper Pomme arm keep a sharp eye out and be careful.
  10. If casting is tough, try a stout spinning rod with a weightless plastic worm, just the work and hook with point well buried in the body of the worm. swim/twitch it across the holes. You will want the stout rod/reel as they will dive deep in to the moss and you will have another 20# of vegetation to pull out as well. Used to have a lot of fun with ponds like that.
  11. 850.86. Currently. Outflow 2800 cfs, lake dropping between 0.4 and 0.5 feet per day. There is a usgs link in the first topic under Pomme that will give you the inflows from Pomme and Lindley, Pomme Lake level, outflow, and Truman's lake level.
  12. Any openings in the moss. If so about anything that lands in an opening is likely to get busted.
  13. I catch the most fish on tube/ned/grub in brown,brown/purple, or greenpumpkin. Biggest fish always seem to come on a rapala minnow or occasionally the old rebel craw.
  14. My first thought was it makes the surface "slick" enough for sand/grit etc. to not stick, but don't know.
  15. Being a gotta know how it works kind of guy what does spraying the outside of the entire reel do? I use Reel Magic on the line, but have never sprayed the reel.

    What's Cooking?

We make a Paula Deen recipie called Bobbies Goulash, one of my favorites. Like you said it isn't much to look at but dang tasty.

Rps, very nice grill marks sir.
  18. Thanks trapshot25 I will check lowes next time I make it to the city.
  19. Heck with the fish, where did you find the big straw hat. Dr. Says I gotta get used to wearing big hats and I like that one.
  20. My favorite part is the trashbag over the engine. How on earth did they keep it from getting wadded up in the flywheel?
  21. Sorry but once it crosses the state line the name "ned" no longer applies. In Oklahoma it would either be the "Sooner Rig" or perhaps the "Cowboy Rig" depending upon your preference. In Kansas it would likely be the "Jawhawker" because it brings a fiery death to innocent lives. In Arkansas they just call it that "half a rubber worm on a crappie jig thingy".
  22. The toughest ones I ever owned were a couple of Diawa Black Golds
  23. Good grief, that's almost an infestation of scuds. Never seen a hatch of them like that.
  24. As long as "they" let us or until we get near to conservation pool elevation.
  25. Having had this discussion with my pastor and others before I will say that there are more than a few folks who attend a church service every sunday who are a little too "Old Testament" for me or for most of the world, and who are more than willing to point all of everyone elses flaws and lapses in judgement with out seeing any issues for themselves. There are also a lot of folks in this world who are genuine good people, but for one or more reasons do not attend church even occasionally. Going to church services for me is not about my faith, it is a way to connect with others who strive to be the best christian they can, and to allow the fellowship, music, and sometimes the sermon recharge my batteries for the coming week. Many times while working emergency deployments etc. I have worked 7 days a week, never feeling like I was sinning for missing regular service. If more regular church goers were to miss a sunday a month and spend it helping their neighbors, friends, strangers etc. honestly I believe it would be a better world. And yes this last year has brought me closer to my faith in a way that easy/good times never could.
