  1. I know you like your top water. What do you throw under the water for smallies?
  2. He has a point!
  3. Flysmallie... I watched this for the prince nymph, but I thought you might like the variation of the woolly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kldpL44ClLs&list=PL7f6qwpeGf5TN4cIUT-2S3aHjY3NHYWy_&index=12
  4. Try selling them here.
  5. Try a google search for the Angler's Art. I found it enjoyable to watch, but also educational for fly tying. Here is a link for some of season four. http://www.nwptv.org/watch-video/fly-tying/season-four/
  6. I'll try that Lancer... thanks.
  7. Try these Al... i haven't yet, but I would like to get some. http://www.amazon.com/Omega-Amphibian-Navigator-Float-Tube/dp/B001P4FU46/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1449002628&sr=8-7&keywords=swim+fins+for+float+tubes
  8. Yea I won't get to go. I thought they were in NE Alabama. That was stretching my limit. So SW AL and Georgia (opposite from where I will be) will be to far. I'm hoping to fishing something called/like the Little Grand Canyon. It is supposed to be remote and a great float. I need to find a guide or canoe service.
  9. Year round warm water doesn't hurt either.
  10. Does anyone have a tip on how to set the tail on a prince nymph so they are in line with the hook? No matter how hard I try, the far hook sits low and the near hook is high from the thread tension.
  11. I was watching a video on wet fly fishing by the famous wet fly guide in Arkansas... Wooten I believe (i'm bad with names). He suggested that one can use finer tippets on a swing, after the line goes tight, by taking your finger off the line and let the drag take the hit. He suggested that the drag when added with the fishing diving back to the bottom would be enough to set the hook. One has to set the drag for the operation, but it makes sense to me. I'm going to give it a try.
  12. Thanks Phil... again, I love these. THANKS to you and the authors.
  13. Phil... as a military transplant to the region, I have loved reading all the new articles for the different rivers. Because it is a Missouri fly, I would love to see a write up on the history and fishing of the crackleback fly.
  14. Soup and chili
  15. Eric, I'm curious as I'm really getting into soft hackles lately. Are you fishing them upstream to you, nymphing them under an indicator, or swinging them.
  16. Anyone got a good black bean recipe?
  17. Sweet flies
  18. So... how did it go Eric

    Tornado Wolly

Love it. You should join the winter fly swap...joining enters it for a review by phils crew. check it out.
  20. Yes in the Spring branch single hook fly rules apply. They do make single hook Rooster Tails...now if they are using them? You use "lures" in the River, just no rubber.
  21. That might be the best advice I have ever seen on this forum.
  22. I guess I'm like an independent voter during primary season, just don't fit in. I like to fish both so I never fit in with this crowd. I need to find some Regan Democrats to fish with I guess.
  23. I need to clarify above, reference a question I received. One does not have to build a fly from scratch. You are more than welcome to modify, correction improve an existing pattern in a way that you thought of.
  24. Phil... said he would be glad to help.
  25. Hello all... the cold of winter is kicking in and hopefully will allow time for some fly tying. This year's theme is a trout fly that you designed and named. The total fly count will be based on number of tiers to include you (tiers - two each for 6 or less tiers...or...one each for seven or more...plus one additional fly). We will keep the window open until end of Jan with flies due end of Feb. So I'm going to try something new this year for fun. If Phil is ok with it and can support... I'm going to send one set of two of each fly to him. Hopefully, Phil and his staff will try them out and declare the best overall fly. My general rules: Don't ship until the shipping dates (First week in Mar) Be on time, but things happen. Communicate issues. Ship with a fully funded return envelope/box or six dollars Put a name tag on each fly. This helps me keep them all straight. Sign ups: MIC - Midge's Wet Dream Lancer09 - Hoppers - Done Ready to Ship DaddyO - Hair and Copper recived Nick Williams - A$$ Kicker Recived Mike H - TBD recived Jtram - Chub Killer recived Buzz - Half A$$ Scud - Done ready to ship recived Kayser - TBD recived Ness - Not so individual Pheasant Tail (LOL)
