  1. Much of lake is 4' deep and featureless. The west end off of Bend road looks a little better. A fellow I know told me there is some depth along the north bank but it looks to me like the north bank is part of the many slag piles from the coke plant. Last time I drove down Bend road i ran across a prostitute plying her trade. In season there are is a lot of duck hunting on the lake but I can't imagine eating anything that ever swam in or drank the water.
  2. I would highly recommend a book called In Defense Of Food by Michael Pollen. Mr Pollen does an excellent job at describing how "food manufacturing" has corrupted the western diet and how to avoid manufactured food.
  3. You might try Andy at Route 66 canoe rental. He'll ride with you up to Spring Creek or East Gate, help you unload than take your car back to his place, the logistics are a breeze. East gate is a little more than I like for an overnighter, Spring Creek will allow more for more fishing. This portion of BP is a mixed bag of poor habitat and poor treatment by locals but I have had some decent success.
  4. That stuff is disturbing. I often wondered why some fillets sell for a fraction of others. Tomorrow I think I'll have venison for dinner.
  5. Yeah, I would probably do the same, of even though my "jet boat" is a lot more boat than jet. Having only weekends to fish and the my lack of tolerance for partiers and power boat traffic I seldom get to fish the most productive stretches of my two favorite bass rivers.
  6. What a difference a day makes. We fished Sand Ford, to Plum Ford Monday and didn’t encounter a single boat, jet or paddle. I guess it was a perfect storm of a morning storm and folks being worn out from a weekend on the water. What a great stretch of water, even with the low levels there was Smallmouth habitat everywhere.
  7. Yep, 67 square miles of frog water. Yesterday the brother and I broke into our usual routine of fishing heads and tails. We always start working pools from where the riffle is just deep enough to hold a ten incher or pockets behind rocks and logs all the way through to where the pool tails into the next riffle. As is typical this time of year once we got far enough down a hole that the current didn’t create eddies or seams the fish stopped coming. We found a few under logs and in chunk rocks but it was hardly worth the effort. No doubt my lack of angling prowess accounts for much of my lack of success in slow pools, maybe I just get bored fishing frog water.
  8. "Missouri Department of Conversation" I like that.

Yep, hunger is the best sauce.
  10. Not at all, I agree that no real harm will be done. I’m just trying to point out how certain things offend our sensibilities.
  11. Yeah I lucked into a good Channel Cat a while back, it took an articulated streamer. I would love to find a place where I could catch them regularly.
  12. If a truck pulled up to the river and dumped 2600 gallons of urine in the river do you think the story would make the local paper?
  13. According to Wikipedia a typical person expels 1-2 Liters per day depending on hydration activity levels etc. It’s a fair assumption that most of these folks will be plenty hydrated. That comes to about 2600 gallons of piss. Good lord, for the life of me I can’t imagine why anyone would enjoy wallowing in such filth.
  14. Can you imagine all the urine?
  15. Yeah I agree, good report, bad news. I would rather hear the truth even if hurts.
  16. You have your priorities straight, a big one swimming free more important that a picture. Good job.
  17. The water is as clear as air, sight fish the grub.
  18. Bring the lightest fly rod you have and explore East Fork. You might find enough ten incher's to make it interesting. It's a beautiful area and a great place to cool down.
  19. Some darn nice fish. With all the internet exposure and guide services now advertising trips I had thrown in the towel on CC, maybe prematurely.
  20. I probably see a dozen or more limb/trot lines every day I'm on a river, I have never, never seen one properly labeled.
  21. Thanks for the report, I ever realized how much I miss Wyoming. I love your menu.
  22. Great advice. You made your own dream come true, good job.
  23. "11 days straight" excellent! Looking forward to your report.
  24. Don't leave your vehicle unattended?
