  1. You would have to be young or really stupid to spend time up in that thing.
  2. I haven’t fished Busch yet this year but typically in mid April you can find the ubiquitous 12” Largemouth Bass roaming the surface in ravenous groups. If your expectations are modest they can be great fun sight fishing to on a light fly rod.
  3. Good report, nice creek fish. It's killing me not being able get out. I'm eye balling the forecast and it isn’t looking good.
  4. Eels need access to the sea. It's their amazing migration that makes them so interesting.
  5. This is inexcusable, the type of contemptuous action that begets contempt.
  6. On the heavily pressured float streams I fish I'm pretty certain any fish I catch that is longer than 16" has been released at least once since it reached the 12" length limit. If it weren't for someone releasing legal sized fish there would be no quality fish at all. I'm truely grateful for those who release.
  7. Yep, that's a good one. My PB 20" came in Easter Sunday, I think it was 1994, that would have been April 3rd.
  8. Welcome to the Ozarks gentlemen. SM, I think you'll find surreal experiences are common; it happens to me most every time I meet a local. I look forward to hearing about your next encounter with the natives.
  9. I guess I missed what it used to be. I do know that spring creeks such as BS branch are extremely rare and this one is nothing compared to what it could be.
  10. Beautiful, thanks for sharing
  11. Half the fun is getting in the water. Beside ther'e is no stinging nettle or chigger in the water.
  12. No docks and no bars may slow the process but bigger, faster, louder and more congestion is inevitable.
  13. I like the fly rod theory. Those folk are funny, especially ones that cast big open loops; you know the kind of cast Bill Dance would make. If you look real close at fly fishers that cast that way you may notice a glazed look in their eye and a drooping jaw that results from a life time of mouth breathing. Yep, not much can be done to fix that. You could sock em in the nose, chew them a new butt hole or just give them a look of contemptuous disdain as you go home or move along to the next spot, it doesnt really matter what you do because they wont understand or change.
  14. The best item on Bandana's menu is the toast. Makes wonder about the restaurant going public.
  15. Thanks, that's what I thought. With the horse power limits it unlikely we'll see UHMW lined boats on the river. I think I'll make a point of camping a couple of days just above the shoal on my next trip. Maybe that part of the river will be a little more quiet than above or below.
  16. It has been many years since I floated through Halls Bay Shoal. I do remember hardly ever getting through without kissing a rock or two. My question is can jet boats navigate up and down Halls Bay? I have often wondered if the river just upstream from the shoal sees less power boat traffic.
  17. Al, The nice Cutthroat you caught below Livingston reminded me of a comment I had read in The Montana Angling Guide by Chuck Fothergill and Bob Sterling. In their 2002 description of the gradual transformation from a Cutthroat fishery in the upper river to a Brown and Rainbow fishery in the lower river they make this comment “At Springdale you’ll notice the reappearance of Cutthroat Trout”. I have often wondered if Cutthroat still makes up a significant portion of the trout population on this part of the river or if this was just the case when research was done for the book.
  18. Great response, rock solid advice. If it were as easy as standing on the bank of a creek and throwing whatever bait someone said to use, fishing wouldn't be fun.
  19. Nasty but harmless. Good report, let's hope the weather due for mid week doesn't take the good water color away.
  20. The spring branch holds up pretty well after heavy rain.
  21. Chicken McNuggets are more corn than chicken. As it is now a name is not a description it's a marketing label. We really can't trust any of the food manufactures.
  22. Yea, there is nothing wrong with the names used for various cuts just with the meat itself. Pig need to be pigs and cows need to eat grass.
  23. Whether you waiting for the water temperature to rise, the photo period to increase, the Red Buds to bloom or for the leaves on the Oak trees to grow to the size of a squirrels ear it’s all happening in the next few weeks. The river beckons.
