  1. Bill Babbler, how long do you expect the football jig dragging to last? I will be down there Oct 1.
  2. Dang, do I need to change my daily carry from 9mm to .338 Lapua?
  3. Not sure aftermarket company builds lowers for that small a motor. I may have a used one if you cannot find one locally. 620-421-2935
  4. Get well soon, getting old is not for the weak.
  5. Thanks Jim M. I like fall fishing because of the fish moving shallower to eat shad. I only fish grand about once every 3-4 years and have a club event there. I like Elk river but since the classic was won there I bet that area has been fished to death. May look at Grand/Neosho river this time.
  6. He is a credit to our sport. One time he came to Parsons KS,,,, that's right I said Larry Nixon came to Parsons, KS to do a seminar for our bass club. He did a fantastic job. Wishes for a speedy recovery.
  7. I second that. I only get to fish Table Rock about every 2 years but I still watch this board. Very interesting to see the information here.
  8. May be going to Grand last week of Sept or first week of Oct to fish small club event. Can I get any general info on what to look for to find largemouth. Going out of Wolf creek.
  9. Fished Sat and Sunday out of Ruark Bluff. Sat 3 keeps and 20+ short bass, most on a watermelon Biffle Bug on points. Partner had an 8lbs plus walleye. Sunday fought the wind by myself, lots of shorts, no keeps. Most on a white spinnerbait in the wind or a Biffle Bug. Got tired by 2pm and went home, hope less wind next week. 3-Liter
  10. After having Table Rock kick my axx a couple weeks ago [3 keeps in 2 days] for a club tourney, I am going back this weekend to practice for KBB event next week. Will post results later. Weather looks like clouds Sat and that should help. 3-Liter
  11. Day 2 of event started hitting small round points from Campbell to Baxter with all small fish. Back to Big Creek points targeting cedars. Wake baits and buzz baits over trees with no luck. About 9am a 3.2lb Spot ate a chug-bug. More small fish. Tried flipping but no bites on heavy line. Caught one spot that threw up red-orange craw pincers in boat. Started flipping baby salt craw in natural color with red dipped pincers. More bites including one LM 2.7 and broke off a couple. Tried for 2 days to get bit on something on heavier line or to get fish to come out of cedars with no luck. Hit the backs of some small pockets with a lot more bites on the outside of trees but no keeps. Tried brush on flat points but could not even get small bites. Ended 2 day event with a little over 8 lbs. Beautiful lake with great weather. Thanks to all the guys that post info here that gave me ideas where to start. Good fishing, 3-Liter
  12. Was at Table Rock for Club event. Here is what little I found. Wed put in at 39 bridge and started catching top water fish at the ramp. Caught some off bridge pilings, some on points, and some on flat banks, all under 15". Moved down to Campbell Point area same top water action with no keepers. Started fishing points and sides of points with small plastics. Inside of small point gave a 3.5 lb smallmouth. Moved into Big Creek and fished points with no keepers, but found a 16' black on side of small point on a finesse worm in 15-20 FOW>. Saw schooling fish and threw a spoon into them for a 15" spot. Moved toward Baxter and tried brush piles in 15-20FOW, not a bite. Headed up Kings a little way. Met LakeDog and talked. Tried same thing on sides of points with few bites. Thur, being a river fisherman I put in at Viola and went up. Flipped steep banks for a few small fish. Square bills on flats and bluff ends with few bites. Fished 10 hours up Kings with no keepers doing my strong points. Feeling bad, no river keepers all day so I knew I had to stay in clear water, something a Kansan does not like. Friday, day one of tourney. Top water on points with same results, 10-14.75" fish with no keepers. Tried sides of points in 15-20FOW and started getting bit deep at base of cedar trees. Broke one off deep in cedar on 8lbs line so went with heavier with no bites for one hour. Went back to 8lbs line and got one keeper 2.65 lbs. Wind started to blow so I threw a deep shad crankbait on windy points and sides. Same results, lots of small fish and one large waleye. Started catching a few in backs of small pockets but no keeps. Back to cedars. Broke off 2 more at base of cedars. Tried top water over cedars and swimming a jig by cedars to bring them out but only bites were at base. End of day 1, one fish 2.65lbs.
  13. Thanks for the responses and for the private e-mails with info. I will be fishing the Baxter-Shell Knob-Kings River area. If anyone sees an old man in a black and silver Ranger with a Merc please stop by and say "hi". I have looked at the Open results and have an idea what to do. Will try to find shad in the middle to back half of the pockets and use poppers and crankbaits. Long flat points with drop shots for small limit fish. Rain on Friday changes everything, clouds and wind mean blade bite on TR but very tough after front moves out. Being a shallow water Kansas river fisherman I will spend some time far up the Kings trying for a flippin or square bill bite. If that works I can put the 6lbs line away and feel more at home. Thanks again for the help. 3-Liter
  14. I called the corps last week about camping at Viola after it closed. I was told as long as one campground on the lake was open I could not camp at Viola. Once all camps are closed then I could camp free any where that was not locked.
  15. Thanks for the info guys. I did not get down to TR last weekend as intended. Will be back for our championship Oct 7-8-9-10. I will look at results from BASS event and I do look at Pete's report. I will post report after my tourney. 3-Liter
  16. Would you look more up the rivers or more in the Shell Knob area? Thanks, 3-Liter
  17. Last weekend to practice for Club Championship Oct 9-10-11 from Shell Knob. Only get to fish TR about once every 2 or 3 years, wish I could be there more. Have scanned archives for last few years Oct reports and been watching this forum. Any advice about areas to explore now that might be good by Oct? I know this is a time of change and movement for the fish and with the unusual weather it may be even harder to predict future changes. Just looking for general info [guesses] what the fish may be doing in 4 weeks. Will look up Kings river for square bill and flippin bites, and blade fish if windy or cloudy. Ned or rig fish on long flat points and warts on bluff ends near SK. Last time championship was on TR I had good pattern in deep brush piles near Baxter but with shallow thermocline not sure if that will work. Lake is off limits to me from 9/23 until tourney. Thanks, 3-Liter
  18. Does this requirement include events that go out of private resorts. Our club goes to Table Rock every 3 years and holds our championship there. We were told if we went out of a private ramp we needed no permits. Is this correct? 3-Liter
  19. Fished the dam area Saturday. Beautiful weather but only 1 keeper bass on a biffle bug in a deep brush pile. Lost one on a shallow point that bit a baby salt craw. Sunday I went up Big Sac and Suns creek. Had one keeper out of a deep stump field with a worm and one on a shallow bank that took a finesse worm. No pattern, no depth, no consistent bite even on small fish. What really got me was no fish in the bushes, that is a pattern I really do well with during high water conditions. Hope fishing gets better as the lake gets near normal. 3-Liter
  20. "Spring" can mean anytime from Feb to May. Early in the spring, March and early April I like a wiggle wart in craw colors. As water warms and fish move back in pockets many guys throw spinnerbaits. I throw a Biffle Bug on a swing jig head also at that time of the year. One last observation, State park is usually the clearest water on the lake. You may want to put your boat in up one of the creeks or rivers to find more colored water. Good fishing, 3-Liter
  21. Have not been on Pomme since July. Found some fish in brush piles then, but no pattern. Watermellon Biffle Bugs worked for us a little. Will be back in early October, hopefully cooler weather will help get the fish more active. 3-Liter
  22. Not a crappie fisherman, but the cooler weather that will hit sometime in Sept usually starts the bass getting more active. The cooler water should also help crappie. Good fishing, 3-Liter
  23. Anyone been bass fishing lately? Coming down next weekend and need idea what to do or where to start.
  24. Fished Stockton from Mutton Creek Marina to CC bridge. Water temps 52 in the morning to 59 in afternoon. Caught lots of small keepers both days, not too many shorts. Green pumpkin Biffle Bugs and brown Wiggle Warts got most of them. Main channel points or the first point leading back into a spawning cove. Saturday was beautiful, Sunday wind and rain, but fish still bit well. Good fishing, 3-Liter
  25. Bill, You mentioned Dan Langley. I have not heard of him for years, is he still around? 3-Liter
