Jim has sound advice on the blade, you want to use a short arm thumper and fish it slowly on ledges and they will pound it on the fall. Short arm is the key imo.
Channel banks and swings and mainland and secondary points. 1/2oz jig, 10in worm, single spin all in black/purple. And don't forget black jitter bug on hot calm nights.
Just my thoughts, good luck and stay focused.
Nice report and results. Hope you had insurance on the phone.
Headed to mainlake area this week around the new moon to night fish a few times.
What area did you hit?
I don't consider myself dumb, just my opinion!
Have fun on the Bull and you'll never catch any fish again that you remove from any lake.
Tight lines and cpr!
I know that most die hards c&r but everyone please cpr = catch photograph release all bass.
Their is no sign of ever restocking our pricous resource for us and future generations to enjoy!
Please release all bass to be caught again.
I've been fishing the Rock since 81 and have witnessed the decline. The fish kill in the late 90's really hurt.
Got tons of 35mm pics that prove what this lake used to be.
I'm 100% c&r on all bass so they might hook up with me again.
Please don't keep any bass so they can be enjoyed by someone else, maybe YOU.
Imo I think like others that something happened during hatching or very young and grew into the mishap. Have caught all types and feel sorry for them but they seem fine.
So like always thanks for biting and see you again sometime.
Put in at mutton at daybreak, with my son and his buddy.
No topwater bite surprisingly.
Hit bluffs swings and points to dam and back to mutton. Caught all fish on c-rig baby brushhog, lizard and fish doctor all watermelon red in 15-30 fow.
39 total between us 17 keeps one short eye. Great day showing and planting a seed to his buddy who is just learning how to fish and had 3 keeps.
He truly had a awesome time and was fun watching him catch fish. Was more fun for me watching how excited he got catching fish and my son than me catching fish. Just watching the pure joy on their faces was the highlight of my day!
Tight lines.
Had MDC agent come by and do a creek suvey, super nice guy. Answering all his questions then had few for him. He stated than at the present time main interest was stocking walleye to keep Stocton the premier walleye lake in the Midwest and crappie was second. Told him that they have done a fantastic job and that me and my buddies have had great last few years on both species. Asked about stocking bass again he replied no plans for the foseeable future.
Fished from 7:30 till 4 both days early morning topwater bite on main lake channel banks was short lived, a few keeps.
Then worked points and channel banks to dam and back to Mutton each day.
48 bass total with 16 keeps, 6 eyes 3 keeps all on football jig 15-30 fow. Both days with my son.
Tight lines.
Fin, that's a affel harsh opinion you disclosed, I'm a baby boomer and had my cases of desipline which included the belt but to lump all of us boomers to your analysis is far fetched on out of line.
Be kind and keep harsh opinions to yourself!
What ever happened to the saying " if you don't have anything good to say say nothing at all.
I think that since this is a forum and people never are talking face to face that people talk to much smack. Be kind to each other and enjoy the great outdoors that God has blessed us with.
