Table Rock Lake Current Fishing Report 4-27 20
vernon replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
Pick your poison.....๐คฌ -
I sure wish I was there to check it out for you although there'll probably be fifty boats on those banks now!
-
Should we take that to mean, "she gets it from her mother"?๐
-
Good girl! There's a very good and directly related reason that my degree is in English! Not that I was any good at that either but it was way easier to bluff my way through...... Best of luck to your daughter - hopefully there's not a physics "3"! By the way - does she know anything about boat batteries?
-
For God's sakes man! Haven't I suffered enough?๐คฏ Coulombs now? Seconds instead of minutes? And MORE multipliers? Physics, schmizics!

Thanks to everyone that's gone to the trouble to comment but I'm still lost which is familiar territory for me. I'm trying to discern the benefit of buying two batteries and separating out the outboard and electronics as opposed to just buying one big and bad battery (such as the X2) even if it costs $300 - $400? MCA's, CCA's, RCA's and L, M, N, O, P's be danged. And if a guy were to separate them out then what kind of battery and with what part of the alphabet should the one for the electronics be? ๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐คฏ
-
So do RCA's even matter? I'm finding them from 125 to 225 on batteries with similar MCA's. Or at least I think I am....... Would somebody mind just going out and picking up the absolute most perfect battery for my needs and installing it for me? I'd be ever so grateful........๐ Being helpless AND stupid is not nearly as easy as I make it look.

Sorry - I guess I posted this about half a nano second after yours.

I actually went back and specifically looked for your posts in battery threads and saw where you said (on the twelfth page by the way!) that a 1000 MCA G24 should be sufficient for everything. Guess I'm just nitpickin' cause that sounds way too easy for a simpleton like me that finds battery stuff to be like Chinese calculus. Does that mean that RCA's are irrelevant or are they all the same for 1000MCA battery? Just about everything I've read says I need a G30 or G31which is why I came here. I ain't trusting no battery salesman and that's all any marine dealer is if I'm shopping for a battery. I swear I ain't trying to be lazy - just trying to educate myself. Which ain't easy by the way.......๐คฆโโ๏ธ If you say G24 and 1000 MCA's is all I need to know than that's what I'm gonna go looking for.

I've been searching thru the archives for info on cranking batteries and have only managed to further confuse myself! Hoping y'all can help me out here. Took the boat out yesterday and after the initial starting of the engine (which was fine) every time I fired up the outboard I would lose the electronics. Motor also was a little slow to start so I imagine the four year old AGM that came with the boat is getting kinda tired. The motor is a 2016 Evinrude G2 250 and I run Lowrance HDS 12 and 9 inch graphs. Some of my research has indicated that motor requires at least 1000 MCA's and 220 RCA's but I'm pretty sure that the battery that Cabela's installed falls short of that. The boat is up at my brother's place at the moment so I can't go out to the garage and check right now but will this afternoon. Whatever size it is it has worked just fine other than the stereo has always blipped off and come back on to some pre-set AM station every time I start the G2 which I always figured had to be due to some sort of drop in voltage. That was a minor annoyance, however, yesterday is the first time I've ever lost the electronics which is no longer minor. Anyways, I'm not looking to do something on the cheap but don't want to throw money away either. Some of those $400 plus options are a little shocking to a guy on the "fixed income" though! Regardless, I want to get whatever is best for this particular application and if it's gonna take four large to do it then I'm OK with that so long as I know it wasn't overkill and a waste of money. Thanks for any advice y'all might be able to offer up!

It's actually way worse than that but he makes great jig heads so...... Of course I think he also doth protest too much. After reading my previous text and doing a little soul cleansing even he might be saved. None of us are as irredeemable as some might think!

Just consider it another "contribution" from the world of Vernon to you and yours! A little book learnin' might just do y'all some good! And Vernon the Great is nothing if not book learned and sophisticated! In fact, I tell people all the time that I are smart. ๐จโ๐

Actually, this year's makes three.........

Well, aside from striking good looks and a dazzling personality there's the deep and intuitive philosophical guidance and advice that, although you likely are not even be aware of it, is shaping your very existence even as I write this! As a paradigm, the impertinent and preadolescent comments towards me and other Jayhawks. Before I came along you all hurled them mindlessly and then giggled like a fourth grade girl and thought you were being clever. Now, however, in the deep recesses of your subconscious you're actually starting to question why you would behave in such a nonsensical way and even beginning to wonder if perhaps deep down inside you actually aren't a Jayhawk too! The puerile teasing and name calling is merely an imbellic and ineffective attempt to suppress your inner being which is now beginning to manifest itself in your preconscious and subconscious mind and these strange goings on are bewildering to you. While for most of us, these feelings are easily and naturally retrieved from the subconscious mind, others may find it necessary to occasionally examine themselves in a totally different context before finding inner peace and true self awareness. And this apperception of sorts is what you are experiencing at this very moment. Fear not however. Being a true humanitarian I shall dispatch with any hostilities that I might otherwise justifiably feel towards you and will stay here to guide you through this fascinating metamorphosis as you transition into that which we all really are deep down inside. A ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK! You're welcome.......๐

Crap! I meant "Excursion"! Man, I hate being wrong even though I should be more used to it by now..........

How long are you down for this year? Mark and me leave two weeks from today. If there's an overlap I'll keep an eye out for you at Walmart and Harter House! I wouldn't dare enter Schooner while you're there - that'd be almost as blasphemous as encroaching upon Beardsley without the appropriate papers! Good luck transporting the school district, athletic department and neighborhood watch group cross country single handedly! Will be a true test for the Expedition.

Well, by today's standards I definitely WAS abused! For the day, however, not so much. To provide a little context I'm pretty sure that dad's only heroes were Archie Bunker and Al Bundy. Well, and maybe Granny. To say he was a little "cynical" would be a bit of an understatement!

Did you used to work in the carnival business? Sounds like quite the hustle to me!๐คก Dang Carnie's......

Nice! One of my all-time dreams was a big screened in porch but it never happened and likely never will now. When I was a kid I used to love hanging out on the ones that both of my grandparents had. Used to sleep out there all the time in the summer. Was like being outside while I was inside! That's when I really got hooked on thunderstorms too. Fortunately, we don't have many mosquito's around here so the covered patio works almost as well but them screened in porches are the jizz! Pretty pup!

Careful....... Don't be messin' with my personality ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ช๏ธ๐๐ฌ๏ธโกโ๏ธโ๏ธโ However, seein's how you DO make a valid point we will be arriving 7 May and departing on the 16th. I apologize to all for the inconvenience but, as always, I'm sure it'll make for a great show!

I'd kinda forgotten but this reminded of a couple of times that my dad and me ran into him while working down a bank at Table Rock up around Cape Fair. It was the late 70's and early 80's and he was always throwing either the Spook or a spinnerbait it seemed. Every time, he would talk to us like he'd know us forever and tell everything he could about where and what we needed to do to catch 'em. Dad didn't know who he was and one time said, "That guy is either lyin' or nuts." I tried to explain to him that Charlie was a fishing legend and worked with Bass Pro designing lures and boats. Needless to say, dad wasn't easily impressed and still couldn't have cared less but I felt like I'd just met Mickey Mantle! Of course dad didn't give a hoot about Mickey Mantle either......

Finally was able yesterday to confirm our May trip as a "go" and, yes, at 67 I've had butterflies ever since and will have until we get there! There's a reason that houses are called "shelters" as when shelter is needed is the only time I really feel like being inside of one. If it's not cold, raining, snowing or blowing I'd rather be outside. And sometimes even when it's cold, raining, snowing or blowing! Heck, I had a big roof added to the house to cover the patio so the dog and me could sit outside when it's raining. One of my favorite things to do. Get outside every chance you get I say.

One of the nicest guys I ever met. Really hate to see so many of the legends that I looked up to when I was young leaving this world. I honestly think it's harder to see others grow old and pass than it is to grow old myself........๐ข
