  1. My Ultrex was one of the first ones made and I can't imagine how they could have made it much better but good for them if they did and good for the guys that get the updated version! To my uneducated self, its response is lightning quick and it stays on mark to within a couple of feet even in the wind which I still find to be absolutely amazing. Of course I'm comparing all of this to my own speed of response and ability to hold the boat on a spot with a "normal" troller so there's that...........
  2. As a guy with a B.S. in English (I'll let you decide what that abbreviation truly stands for) I say again - we have feelings too!
  3. Hey! Easy with that stuff! I'm no college professor but I certainly qualify as a bitter and crusty old man and we have feelings too! 😜
  4. Beyond awesome - what a great report/story! Good for you I say.
  5. You can still rub?
  6. Nah - if they bothered to respond at all I’m sure it would be the usual assurance that the highest possible level of care would be provided to each and every fish and that they would be released in even better shape than they were in when they were caught. Heck, they might even earn a life of pampered leisure in one of Bass Pro’s exalted aquatic mansions.
  7. Hang in there. I'm not far away so if there's anything I can do to help out just let me know.
  8. At least the weigh in is only an hour or so away from the launch site so the fish should be just fine.......
  9. Branson Yacht Club on Indian Point is $20 per night as well. We've stayed there numerous times without incident and I can't say that about everywhere else that we've stayed. I don't how closely it's monitored but they have video surveillance and a locked gate to discourage snoopers during hours the marina is closed. Nice, large slips with gas, ice and the usual stuff available just a few steps away. Pretty good launch ramp as well with ample parking for your trailer.
  10. And to think that the week of May 5th (we were there thru the 12th) the surface temps were low to mid 60's! Heck, we were half giddy looking ahead at the forecast for that week and seeing that it was supposed to actually get close to 80 degrees a couple of days. I sure hope this isn't indicative of the summer months ahead or we'll all be spending a lot of time indoors. I shall call it "The Anti-Winter".
  11. While I don't always do it (sometimes I just need a good cry I guess) I knew that slicing or peeling onion under cold water would keep it from burning ones eyes. Didn't know about the acid/burping aspect however. There cannot possibly be another site on the internet where a guy can even remotely access such an eclectic amount of information all in one place!
  12. Hmmm. Well, maybe I knew after all! Could I have just been making the whole thing too hard?
  13. I'm proud to say that I knew the definition of pellicule and also what panko is. However, you completely lost me at onion burping! Nonetheless, well played old sport - sounds fantastic and looks even better.
  14. Reluctantly (as always) I followed Kathy into the Bass Pro on The Landing last week and the first thing I saw was a huge stack of Cabela's brand coolers - the big fancy Yetti wannabe's that were on sale. The last time I was in the Cabela's in Kansas City the boat sales area and outdoor displays seemed to be dominated by Nitro and Tracker products. Both times, Twilight Zone music began rolling through my head. I'm sure it will all shake out for the best. Or not. Either way, Johnny will be just fine. Might want to consider buying some stock in Tackle Warehouse though!
  15. Sorry but as the resident COE apologist it just ain’t their call. Only Congress can tell the COE what to do and what with the Blunts and Claire pushing for LESS regulation and even MORE big docks and big boats I don’t think it’s gonna happen - at least not in my lifetime. Too much money to be made. COE doesn’t dictate policy - only enforces what’s on the books as established by congressional rule. Sucks I know and everybody I ever knew in the COE completely agrees with you (and me). Water Patrol is virtually powerless as well. By law the dude in the big boat just ain’t doing anything wrong and neither the COE or WP can write legislation. Also why I’m looking seriously at relocating my trips to Bull Shoals.
  16. In October of what had to be close to that same year my dad and I spent the night in Buzzard Hollow under near identical circumstances. Fog seemed to descend instantly and out of nowhere. Finding our way back to Shadrack from there was out of the question. About froze to death and honestly have NO fond memories of that event whatsoever!
  17. Cool! Glad to hear it. And as for the inevitable “clown shoes” comments, I can only respond by asking, whoever saw a clown with sore feet?
  18. Bozo love is the best!
  19. That’s MISTER Bozo mister!
  20. You guys seriously need to consider seeking counseling. SO overly sensitive to life’s minutiae! Just wear the danged shoes and respectfully say, “Thank you Vernon.” I, on the other hand, need to put this stupid phone down and go fishing! C’mon weather.....
  21. Crap. I forgot you had that phobia deal about “celebrity” association and mass marketing or I never would have brought it up! I bet they hate ‘em anyways.
  22. Who you callin’ Bozo!?!? I’ll have you know that the shoes I wear have NOTHING to do with me being called a clown! I think that’s what I meant...... Anyways, and not that it matters (I specialize in that area) but I noticed Jimmy Houston and Hank Parker are wearing them. Now I got a feeling they got a better deal than what is available to the average “Bozo” but it is what it is.
  23. Outstanding! Gonna try and put some of that info to use today!
  24. Yes, yes and yes. Tuff day around here and bumped heads require adequate and appropriate medication!
  25. Awwwww, now y'all just showin' off! Nice shootin'! Can't wait till tomorrow!
