Bill. Looked on the Flambeau site but can't find anything for "Zbart". Is that "guide" code for something? Thanks.
-
Hi Bill. I sent you a PM earlier although I understand your reluctance to say much.
-
Happy Birthday and thanks for all the great stuff you share with the rest of us! Heck, I can remember when I used to be twice your age!
-
That's good stuff. I'm personally an Oakley and Maui Jim guy but will definitely check out Costa's in the future. Thanks for sharing!
-
Again guys, thanks a thousand times over! Incredibly good stuff here - way above and beyond what I expected. Hard to believe so many folks are willing to share so much personal information and in some cases, downright secret tricks with a stranger like myself. In some cases I'm even encouraged and impressed that I already employ some of the baits and tactics listed although most of them were probably stolen from here many years ago! All of this great input will go miles in making it easier to put Humpty Dumpty back together again and without spending needlessly out of confusion. If I may be so bold as to ask a couple of other questions, I was wondering where most of you prefer to go shopping for deals and selection. I know Tackle Warehouse has been mentioned many times in the past but I've personally never shopped there. I typically go to Bass Pro and Cabela's due purely to convenience but I also realize that I'm limiting myself by doing so. I also am going to need a new storage system and was curious what some of you preferred. My past bag was a Falcon that held seven or eight plastic boxes with an assortment of zippered and mesh pouches on the outside that's pretty common I would guess. One thing I hated about it though was it leaked like crazy and I had to either store it under deck or in a plastic bag whenever it rained. Pain in the butt to have to empty all that crap out in the room to dry at night and resulted in lots of rusted hooks to boot. Thanks again for all of the time and effort in helping me out here. Can't wait to get started now that I have plan and especially since it wasn't crafted by a guy named Custer! I'll let you all know how things are progressing and hopefully will have an opportunity to thank some of you in person sometime in the future.

OK, now I feel even dummer. What's a Jika rig?
-
Man, that's some massive good stuff! Actually I think I just need to start fishing with you guys! Thank you all so much for your time and consideration. It's been a huge help. For anyone that still has ideas beyond what's been mentioned please let me know. I'm all ears! Thanks!!
-
Uh oh. Now we've REALLY crossed the line. While I was hoping that Champ might jump in with some personal recommendations regarding my request I sure as heck didn't want to get him involved in a multi border war argument. But now that he's here didn't Billy Graham coach Tulsa at one time? Or was that that Roberts guy?
-
Yeah, it's hard to believe how they treated Norm for so long and then to think that they picked Quin over Bill Self! Thanks for that by the way. For a Jayhawk and Missouri "hater" I can't tell you how bad I think the not so Big 12 misses them and I'm not sure the feeling isn't at least somewhat mutual. For all the success you guys have had in football, I just don't think it's the same as if it had been in the Big 12. It's almost like the SEC and most everybody else looks at the East division as the MAC unless Spurrier wins it. Too bad cause those have been some really good teams and Pinkel's a prettty dang good coach if you as me (although he's no Turner Gill or Charlie Weiss). All I know is it ain't the same without you guys. Anyway, back to the important stuff. Would it be too much to ask if you could provide your favorite brands and models? I'm really trying to educate myself a bit on stuff that I might not be overly familiar with or have used in the past. Thanks again for your time help. This Jayhawk greatly appreciates you crossing enemy lines!
-
Of course you know WE all think the SEC is vastly overrated and MU is crying in their cereal every morning that they left! The mind can be a terrible thing! I too greatly miss the basketball rivalry and even looked forward to the football games. Kind of like you guys in basketball, the few times we DID win was the biggest deal of the year. Who cares if we beat Iowa State or whoever. Although right now does sound pretty good! Unfortunately, the hiring of Kim Anderson makes it much more difficult for me to revel in MU's basketball misery. Great guy and I hope he does well. Anyway, thanks much for taking the time to help me out. It's probably only been about fifty years since I tried to put a tackle box together from scratch and I'm hoping to not completely screw it up. Won't have another chance like this again and don't want to overspend on too many Helicopter Lures this time around! I feel your pain regarding the "just in case" lures. What "if" they're only biting chartreuse, blue and red Warts and not the chartreuse, blue and orange? Again, the mind is a terrible thing! Thanks again and go MU! I can't believe I just said that.

Great advice and point well taken. That being said, I really am willing to take this kind of slow and build as I go. Just want to make sure that whatever I do buy for more immediate use is as close as I can get to waste free I guess. You guys know so much more than I do that I just wanted to pick your brains as much as possible before spending a dime. Thanks!
-
That is some great stuff! Thanks for the input. Apparently, you didn't notice that I'm a Jayhawk prior to divulging such a comprehensive list! Just goes to prove that we really can all get along!
-
Other than War Eagle are there any other spinnerbait brands out there that are among your favorites? I've used Gamakatsu hooks for quite a while for worms, centipedes, doctors, etc. Anything better out there now? Typically add a 1/8 or 1/4 oz screw in type bullet weight.
-
Wow guys, thanks for the quick responses and great information! Thought that I might add that I did discover Ned last April so I'm down with that. I also fish a lot of jigs and trailers, centipedes, beavers and other smallish type baits. Love spinnerbaits and throw quite a bit of topwater. Mostly Lucky Craft type stuff, Sammy's, Gunfish, etc. Never tried the Fin as it sounds like it takes a lot of effort and time to get it right. Crank baits have been partial again to Lucky Craft, Warts and some Flickr Shads. Feel free to include brand, size and color if not too much to ask. At my age (62) I've been around a little bit but still have nowhere near the knowledge that's available on this board. Just want to get it as right as possible this time around. I agree with Ham in that I don't intend to try and acquire a finished product first time around and realize that I'll have to add some stuff here and there for a while. Have been interested in adding Nutech stuff as I've been impressed with what I've read. Any specific recommendations regarding that would be great as well. Not opposed to entering into the world of a few custom painted baits as I've not gone there in the past either. Terminal tackle suggestions would also be helpful - types of hooks, weights, line ties or swivels for various baits. I know what I've used in the past but that doesn't make em' the best choice. So much good and new stuff out there. Oh yeah, storage options are up in the air as well. Thought that the newer Plano bags looked pretty nice but haven't really researched that yet. Thanks again. You guys are the best of the best!

Hey guys, for those of you that remember, I'm the guy that posted a thread back in October about having my tackle bag stolen from my boat while docked at Kimberling Inn. In a nutshell, pretty much everything that I owned relative to Table Rock baits was in that bag. Anyway, after a couple months of back and forth with the insurance company I have now been "made whole" (at least in their minds) and am ready to start a complete rebuild of my tackle bag. While the insurance payment won't cover everything that was lost due to deductible and depreciation, truth is there was plenty of stuff in there that I rarely if ever used anyway. So here I am, ready to start from scratch for the first time since I was probably about ten years old and as bizarre as it might sound, it's kind of intimidating. I basically have a one time shot to do something I've never really done before and that's put together a collection of lures and terminal tackle designed specifically for the four seasons of Table Rock Lake fishing. Obviously, I don't want to waste money on Flying Lures and Banjo Minnows this time around and would really like to get the most bang for my buck. Have a bag that when I open it up doesn't have a "junk" compartment, just tried and true TR producers. Hence, I figured why not consult with the greatest resource on earth when it comes to fishing this great lake and ask for some much needed help. For those of you that give so selflessly of your time, advice and information I am forever appreciative. You make each trip to Table Rock more exciting than it might otherwise have been and even when sitting home in the middle of winter or summer, provide an entertaining source of what's going on day to day. Anyways, if any of you have the time and interest in helping me out I would again be eternally grateful. Just imagine you've got a couple thousand dollars to spend exclusively on Table Rock tackle and share with me if you would what you would have on your list. I probably won't be back down until late March or early April so I'm in no big hurry. Excited, yes but rushed, no. Again, thanks to all of you for all you do to make this the greatest fishing forum there is!

Thanks Nitro. Gonna check first thing Monday morning. Actually wasn't too sure where to start since this "merger" between Water Patrol and Highway Patrol. The last time I encountered a similar but much lesser incident I was told that if its on land such as Kimberling's parking lot it's local police but if on water such as the boat slip its Water Patrol. Whoever that is anymore. Thanks much for info!
-
Ok, you got me! No more whinin here. This was likely our last trip of year so I've got a few months to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Spreading the cost over a few months is more easily swallowed than all at once for sure. And as Wrench commented, some downsizing is likely warranted as well. Thanks for the comments, suggestions and encouragement. See y'all again in March!
-
Thanks Champ. You've actually suggested this place to me before. We just keep falling for the military deal since it's $369 for an entire week. Needless to say not a bargain this week. Thanks though. Will give serious consideration come spring!
-
Yep. Still $30. Downright nuts if you ask me. The unit we're in doesn't allow for trailer parking anywhere nearby so we bit the bullet this time. $30 per nite and no security, no running water and no cleaning facilities. Likely our last time at this place. Only reason we come here is that I get a great rate through a military broker due to my prior military affiliation. No longer worth it though.
-
Wow. That lends some perspective I guess huh? Sorry to hear about that and glad you've recovered to at least some level of satisfaction. I'm sure you're right. Lots of stuff in there that hasn't been wet in quite some time. Nonetheless, limited funds will necessitate a significant downsizing so I'll know soon enuff I guess! Thanks.
-
yeah, I know. Just need a while to cool down and look at things more objectively. Thanks for the encouragement.
-
Yep. Had a theft from our garage three years ago of about 8K and our rates skyrocketed. As I mentioned I have a pending lawsuit for a vehicle accident with an uninsured motorist that resulted in almost 300K in medical bills and eventually forced me to retire from my job. Pretty sure once that's settled they're gonna cancel us anyway so not sure how to proceed until I can investigate further. Sorry about your deal. Good luck to us both!
-
Kimberling has signage stating they have video surveillance cameras on site but in reality do not. Not sure it would matter anyway. These guys know what they're doing. Must be a very rewarding way to live ones life. If you're dumb enuff to buy it I'm smart snuff to steal it. Bout ready to sell it all off and just play golf and fish farm ponds at home like the good ol days. Tired of funding the drug habits of others. Love this place dearly and have been coming down 4-6 times per year since the 70's. Yeah I'm old too. Have gone from having butterflies for weeks before each trip to having a bad stomach from stress and anxiety worrying about my possessions.
-
Yeah gonna check. Have plenty of both but have a rather large accident/injury settlement still pending from a couple of years ago and will likely get cancelled. Need to ask what the possible consequences might be. You know the deal - insurance is only good when you're not using/needing it. Thanks though.

My wife and I arrived late Saturday for a week of mostly not catching fish (so far anyway) golf and relaxation. Other than the tuff fishing that most everyone has been experiencing (bout 9 Smallies so far with two keeps) been having a great time. However, last nite after securing the boat (resort stall at Kimberling Inn) and removing tackle and equipment we messed up. Apparently in our haste to get in to watch game one of the World Series (go Royal's) we inadvertently left the tackle bag in the boat under the console. Well, not surprisingly, this morning it was gone. Kathy thought I grabbed it and I thought she did but of course it was left behind. As you all know, the primary tackle bag contains 80 to 90% of the best stuff and now it's gone. If anyone happens to see a faded red Falcon tackle bag for sale someplace please let me know. Gotta be close to a couple grand worth of stuff in there and it won't be easily or quickly replaced. Couple boxes of crank baits that includes many Lucky Craft models. Plastics, jigs and lottsa terminal tackle. You guys know the deal. While improbable for sure, thanks nonetheless for any help anyone might be able to provide. Really pisses me off that we all have to continually deal with these losers ruining hard earned vacation time and making such a negative impact on us financially. There's many years worth of lure collecting and culling of baits in that bag and I hope at least whoever has it now truly needs it more than me. Thanks guys and always watch your stuff!
