  2. Thanks, I haven't floated Big Piney but once and I believe we were lower so I don'thave a good gauge of the river levels needed to float.
  3. Which section did you float and how was the water level? Drag much?
  4. no an ugly camo'd 14ft john with a yamaha
  5. two of us got there around 7:00. Tried across from the ramp then up below the first shoal and then p and around to Taylors. Caught 6 between 2 of us. Another fisherman said the water temp was 56. Much clearer and lower than 2 days ago. We left around 10 cold wind without an active bite ran us off. Need a few warm nights
  6. hungry bass
  7. Ok Thanks. I've fished there befroe for crappie in the spring
  8. The spawning season for the white bass is mid-March to late May. The optimal water temperatures are 12 to 20 °C (54 to 68 °F). They are known to find their home spawning ground even if it is moved to a different part of the same lake.[9] They often spawn in moving water in a tributary stream, but they will spawn in windswept lake shores.[9] They spawn during daylight. Females release 242,000 to 933,000 eggs which stick to the surface of objects.[9] Eggs are laid in clear, relatively shallow water on plants, submerged logs, gravel, or rocks.[10] The parents move to deeper water and do not care for the young fish. The young fish live in shallow water for a while until they move to deeper water.[9] When trying to find a female with whom to mate, males will bump against a female's abdominal area. The female will then rise closer to the surface and begin spinning and releasing eggs. Several males that have stayed in the area will be able to fertilize the eggs the female releases.[11]I just I just looked this up . Last year in South Dakota the white bass were spawning on rip rap. We saw several pods of 4-6 fish swirling around in a tight ball so I guess they were doing it there right in front of us, Get a room!
  9. I was on the Liitle Sac yesterday at Taylor Bridge, water temp at 60 degrees after 2 days in the 70's. No white bass to be found. I wonder if they aren;t going to make a run up the river and just spawn in the lake. Where is Coffman cove anyway I'm not familar with that spot. Is it neat high point? By the way whites do not make a bed when they spawn they just get close to one another and release their eggs and sperm.
  10. Caught a dink last week by his pinkie
  11. Nice huntwith great results. We may have one more chanceafter this cold front comes thru this weekend.
  12. if it is your first time to 4 rivers I would suggest waiting till after sunrise. Unless you know your spot ,finding a good spotointhe dark is difficult at best. Bring some binocs so you can glass for birds and see where they are working
  13. as you head up going north it is a bluff bank on your left, west. But then the river turns east and what is on your left, north is a big field. Did you see birds up in Beaver today and was there any shooting going on?
  14. I talked to Billetheadabout your Texas redfish trip. He didn't think he would be returning this season but said you may. i've been wanting to do a trip like that. I would be interested in a trip like that if you are heading down and need another fisherman. I have a 17 1/2 ft triton alluminiiun bass boat that would probably work well

  15. this spring with the high water there was alot of flooded fields. i was wondering what the water level was at when the field that is to the north of the creek where the creek runs north and then turns east . this is the first major bend of the creek.Last spring the whites and crappie were in the flooded brush. I'm thinking for ducks now.
  16. Nice job. Whoever did the retrieveing must be tried out
  17. Hunted unit 4 the last 2 days Yesterday going in the water was just starting to come over the levees from pool 16 & 17 into 15. Coming out the level had come up 6". Today the water was close to a foot higher. Bottom line, most the placesthat were hunted before the water are now 6 ft or deeper. Where we hunted today which was dry is over 3 ft deep birds are flying though, two 6 bird limits yesterday and two 4 mallard limits today. Pic shows us loading up at the ramp the flat part of the ramp is fully covered
  18. Hot weather ,cold water and trout on a dry sounded great so I headed down last Monday. Got there around 1pm. Put in by scotty's and ran up to the dam. Started on the north side had a rise my first cast. Second cast watched a big bow come up and eat it. Fought hard and as a usual bass fisherman no net. did my best to get it to the boat and release it but no chance for a pic. 18' and well fed 2# I'd guesstimate. few more cast and another one on. Like you I thought I was in for the best day. What happened I don't know. A front came through with some thunder/lightening. Clouds and wind but it shut down quickly. caught one more fish the rest of the afternoon. tried an streamer abit a few different hopper patterns, nothing.

    Sad News

Sad News, I just started floating CC this year. He was already in the hospital at that time. His wife directed me to Marshall who has been handling the shuttles for Jim. He's been doing a good job the few times I've been down. Haven't had him go for beer yet.
  20. Clear Creek is about 2 miles down from 62 bridge. It's on the south side so you enter on of county road 4010 also called Patterson Cemetary. These are unimproved access. There one by the cemetary and then also at the low water bridge at clear Creek. wouldn't suggest using them if you are expectng a ramp access like 62 bridge.
  21. Fished upper CC Monday, Clear Creek to Snow Good floating level, I fish in a 17 ft aluminium paddle john but we made it fine had to walk it thru some of the riffles. Good water color, not clear maybe 3ft vis. Aborted a 2 days float because of forecast rain for Monday PM and Tues AM. Hit a storm between Harrison and Branson going home. 30mph wind and a downpour. Would have hated to be out in something like that,

caught this one a feww summers ago. I have caught several in the 18" range from our local stream. This one came from the Current. I was standing and saw what I thought must be a carp. It was no crap. It swam slowlly under a large sunken tree trunk and I dropped my green worm just to the other side. It wass 20" long with quite a large girth
  24. my recent post was from that area . Bass were coming on to the banks. Carp were all over the banks. couldn't really tell you about crappie.
  25. Put in at the Lead Hill ramp if you call it that. High water has the ramp hidden, just backed in till the boat floated. The mayor of Diamond City and I helped each other with the trucks so we didn't have to wade in to get in our boats.Headed down lake and started hitting creek arms. Started with topwater had one bust up on it but switched to a fluke to avoid all the weeds. Had troubles early on. Saw fish on beds back in the grass but by the time I would see them because of bad light they seemed to do the same. Caught two on a jig both solid keepers. Mid morning went back to the fluke getting behind the bush but out of the grass. Started to get some consistent action for about 3 hours. Boated 12 fish all keepers but one. one nice 16" smallmouth. About 1:00 it seemed to end. Spent about an hour in one creek arm. Came in and heard a gobbler on the hillside. He gobbled at least 5 times a minute for the next 30 minutes, weather front had something to do with it but he was on fire. Havenn't fish Bull Shoals for a long time but was nice the be away from the crowds and I came out with probably one of beat one day efforts . Nothing huge but all solid fish.
