Hunting buddy's lab. It's first walk year at hunting Got a few nice drake pintails this last week. One plus of the warm weather I guess

I think RC get stuck less than other crankbait. I find if you give it slack and wait about 5 seconds it often comes loose on it's own.

We did well a 4 rivers up until Tuesday then we just quit seeing birds. thonkthe full moon has a lot to do with it. Clear nights all this week. You could drive to the marsh with no headllights.

Do you always go by surface activity or do you use electronics and fish around bait?
-
Quite a story. breaking ice to get the boat in the water. catching it after dark.

I don't have a second job am I a pro?

they have red meat. @BilletHeadsays if you angle your knife just right you can leave the red meat on the skin. With that there is just a small line of it an the lateral line. I can accomplish that probsbly 1 out of 10 times. Otherwise I just try to skim it off with my knife.l Hybrids yield a thick fillet. with whites I cut the fillet in half at the lateral line. The top I use for cooking as a fillet ,the bottom I cut into small pieces and make cerviche

Not hard to get Marty interested in fishing for temperates even if it doesn't include a flyrod. Met by the dam in near darkness. Launched and headed south looked over a few spot and ended up down around KK Island. Moved around with the trolling motor casting blindly. No success and very little to give us much hope. All a sudden Marty yells and I turn and fish are hitting the surface right next to the boat. We quickly boat 2 hybrids each, Marty lost a few as well. Then it died. The wind picked up where it was tough to move around and the trolling motor would barely hold us so we moved down the Pomme arm to get some protection.Saw 2 old guys in the area we wanted to fish catching small whites right near the shore. We moved in along the shore took alwile but we started catching whites, keeper size but we let them go. That area slowed so we moved on. Caught more hybrids and white on typical windblown banks, shallow wanted the bait within a foot or two of the shoreline. Rattle traps and Kietech worked well. surprised on the Kietech because the water was stained brown probably 8" viz. Ended up near 7 hiway bridge and got into them good there. stayed there from about noon till we left at 2. Ended up with guessing 60 total with 15-20 mutts.

Been ther a few times but not this late. Where did you launch out of foer the smallmouth trip? Late season They say they catch the big ones on big live bait. The tackle store in Strugeon Bay said you had to reserve bait. How did you guys catch them. Toughest part of those trips up north is that you gota plan on losing some days to bad weather. When you go out in layouts are you tucked in behind an island with some wind break or are you out in the open?

Thoses would have been the first thing sold if you had advertised them up north😆

Health before fishing I guess. now I have to bow out. An event that my wife wants to see is Saturday night in KC. Hope to fish with you all sometime.

Late entry but I think I'll be coming down. Probably launch out of Aunts Creek. Currently have the back of the boat open if someone needs a ride. I'll fish deep or shallow

The local guide was cleaning 45 at the cleaning station. The lakes that have perch in them are crowded. The lake where we caught those bass had one boat on it , ours

Each spring since 2013 I've gone to South Dakota to fish with my brother and some of his friends. with the rather bad luck I typically have around here and what looked like a streak of good weather in SD I decuded to head north. Thought my brother would come up for at least a few days but he imformed me he took most of the week off.arrived at his house tuesday night and we departed in the morning planning on fishing through Sunday.Plan wsa to target Smallmouth and whatever we caught while dong that would be fine. Started at the lake that typically produced the biggest smallies. hit our favorite structure spots fishing deep and shallow with little success.Caught one 2# smallie which is rare to see one that small. Mades some moves. hooked into 2 large pike, 10# range. Beong I'm a bass fisherman the my was packed somewhere deep in the storage so we tried landing them by hand so needless to say there are no pictures of those 2. Then we started hooking into some nice eater walleyes on swimbaits. Ended the day with 8 walleye, 6 betwwen 17-19" Your'e allowed one over 20" each so we had 1 right at 20 and 1 23".THrow in a few pike and the livewell was stuffed full. Caught a few smallies that day but I tell my brother those are off limits. Next 2 days were ablut the same we did manage some smallies in the 18-19" range and quite a few below that size. Kept finding the walleye about equal number of eaters vs over 20"ers. Think we only caught 1 walleye that was too small to keep. 3rd day a friend joined us. Went back where we caught the big pike hoping for a replay without success but I did bring in the biggest wallye fo rthe trip 27" ,7.25#. I think it was about to die of old age it didn't put up much of the fight. Saturday the weather turned bad. Rain in the morning followed by stron east wind. Does anybody ever do well with an east wind? We didn't. Forecast was for the weather looked bad. Strong front with damaging winds that night abd 20+mph with rain Sunday so we cut the trip short. We packed up our campsite and headed out.

I was up fishing in South Dakota this last week. The lake that contains mostly smallmouth and some largemouth I caught this smaller bass. The mouth looks smaller than what I would expect for a large mouth but the coloration was certainly more of that of a large mouth. Thinking maybe they were mean mouth what is the opinion of others on the forum?

Went out of Moonshine around 7:30 with the idea of fishing shallow, per lastest reports. Worked up tp indian creek and caught a few in 7-10 ft with the jig. Moved along. Up near point 5 in 20 fow casted out with a jig and caught a nice smallie. Few cast later another , then a walleye on a football jig. Thoght we were on to it , then it died. Caught 3 smallies 2+ # and the walleye. fished for 3 more hourswithouy a bite. Came back to our honeyhole to find my released walleye floating on the surface. Picked it up but couldn't revive it so headed for the fryer. not a bad day but wish the patterns woould have held up.
