How people lost their lives riding in the back of pickups?? We have laws like that to help the people who don't have common sense about driving 60 MPH down the road with their kids or grownups in the back of a pickup, who should be smarter than that to allow riding in the back of a pickup with the possibility of an accident happening anytime you are on the road. I bet you don't wear your seat belt for the same reasoning.

I have found that 99% of the people that pull tubes, skiers and the famous wake boats creating the large wakes for their surfers don't care about safety of anyone including themselves and especially fishermen.... When they are on the water it is theirs and they can do anything anywhere regardless to anyone else. When you point out the dangers to them you have insulted their intelligence and you become a hindrance to them and their fun. I have another comment and that is about lighting on a boat at night. When did it become permissible to line you boat with these blue led lights along each side of your boat front to rear and run the lake at night with them on????? Also headlights at night which blinds other boat operators meeting them at night, sure takes your night vision away for awhile. It is becoming a nightmare at night on the lake, between boats running with no lights to lights all over of wrong colors and the blinding headlights.... Then there are the dock people floating 5 gal buckets for their own no wake buoys..... Just wait until you catch one and the metal handle screws up your prop as you run over it... You can't see it at night in time to avoid it, no markings, no reflecting tape. Just wait until they all start doing that....There's one dock just down from Cape Fair Marina doing that... I guess I have become grouchy in my old age... but I would think and expect that more common sense out of the boating public than what I have witnessed the pass few years....I thought that everyone who operates a boat has read the rules and regulations on safe boating. But apparently not, I was running in towards Cape Fair yesterday on the right hand side meeting a pontoon boat and I steered to the right and the stupid operator steers left towards me. I can not go much farther to the right and he finally turns to his right to avoid me and when we pass he give me that dumb butt head shake like I was the dumb one for steering into his path. Someone must have changed the rules and I wasn't informed, for boats meeting each other head on to steer to their right to avoid head on collisions. Come on winter and flush the crazy's off the lake.

I am a Motor Guide user and I would always buy the Motor Guide.

Well I'll have to agree on the dock owners being part of the problem. Their equipment is like dangling a carrot in front of an animal there are people that will grab that carrot instead of just looking at it and go on. I'll bet that there is not one of us and/or dock owner who would take their boat with all of their equipment loaded on board and park it downtown Springfield and leave it all week there unattended.... That is what the dock owners are doing with their boats and equipment parked in a stall and this is not a new problem. Now I am not justifying theft but you all know what kind of world it has become and there will always be someone who will take your hard earned money away from you if you dangle it out there and those numbers are growing everyday. Look at the overcrowding of our jails and prisons.. Our government is creating more of those looking for a hand out or what they can take, beg, borrow, or steal for a living or drugs......

I have been out at night and yes they do not belong on the lake. I have had to shut down until they pass because of being blinded and losing my night vision for awhile. It is too dangerous to other boaters at night. What is the law on those lights on boats at night???

+ for me. WHERE'S THE WATER PATROL??? We need law enforcements presents on the water. I will guess that most of the wake boat operators has attended the required water safety course before they operate a boat so the "stupid" prevails and without the enforcement people presents on the water and doing their job, nothing going to change... saw someone pulling a tube with kids on it above the Flat Creek bridge the other day........?????

Spring Elite Tourney Resulting In Tough Fishing Now?
GNSfishing replied to AAD's topic in Table Rock Lake
Well no one tournament will affect the bass population. The combination of all of the tournaments can and I think they do affect the bass. There are several tournaments being held every week. As time has passed over the years the methods have changed to catch the bass today as it was 30 years ago. Of course the number of people has increased in pursuit of our green fish. -
Try tying a 5 or 6 Ft fluorocarbon leader on the hi vis lines. The hi vis lines are great for seeing any hits which just twitches the line. There are a lot of hits that we never feel on the rod..
-
Wonder how many $50's (grant money ) of our tax dollars was used........
-
The Nanofil line with a fluorocarbon leader has no memory & line twist problems related to mono or fluorocarbon lines. I use it on a 200 & 300 series Lew's reel with no problems . Nanofil is small diameter, will last all season or more which makes up for the extra cost. The dreaded twist and line loops are a thing of the past with Nanofil. Some think that using Nanofil is hard to use in the wind. I find that if you follow the same methods you will use with mono & fluorocarbon line you can fish just as well with it in the wind. It is very sensitive, no stretch as in mono & fluorocarbon. I always set my drag to slip slightly on hook set to prevent hook pull out. Of course the action of your rod has a bearing on your hook set also.
-
I use Berkley Nanofil line on my spinning reels. I bass fish with my reels and use 10 lb test with a fluorocarbon 8/6lb leader. Works great for me. The Nanofil line does not have retain any memory from being on the spool.

People Are Going To Get Hurt On Tablerock........
GNSfishing replied to rogerdodger's topic in Table Rock Lake
Well one reason is the one gas station has cornered the market here and is around 10 cents higher per gallon that any gas station in Springfield/Republic area, marina gas is $4.00 plus depending on grade. 5 gallon gas cans can and do bring a lot of gasoline for boats coming to the lakes area..... -

That must be why we are seeing more of the big boats, cruisers (belongs on the gulf) here at Table Rock. We have very little water patrol presents on the lake...... -

I live here in Cape Fair and fish here and believe me they are here. Have you looked at what is parked in the marina stalls?? On the weekends try to fish Piney Creek after 10 or 11 o'clock you'll see them. Just the other evening (Monday) there was a wake boat just before the mouth of Wooly Creek which was running with a guy on a surf board riding the swells behind the wake boat and I had to slow down to a crawl to get over the giant wake to get around him and thought I was going to stab the wake with my 20 Ft Z8. A small boat would of had real problems. As far as the money, how do you think the marina has got as big as it is now days and most of the stalls are filled....... and look at the boats, house boats and large cruisers parked there.... The old marina docks were broken down wooden docks and now they are the newest ones around.... -

That's one of the problems, very little if any presents of law enforcement on the Missouri Lakes any more. Ever since the water patrol was combined into the State Highway Patrol there has been less presents on the water and the people know that. Our state government decided that the water patrol division wasn't doing enough so they were put on the highways which reduced their presents on the lakes. One thing I did notice was the Water Patrol was setting at the buoy line at State Park every morning on take-off of the Bassmasters Elite tournament this spring. So it looks like the enforcement or observation of the boating laws is more concentrated on the tournament fishermen.... Than anyone else -

You know we are all preaching to the choir, we need to be the squeaky wheel somewhere it will get attention of the appropriate person or people. I'm not sure where our attention needs to be directed to whom. If someone knows please post here so we all can focus our input. The old saying is "The Squeaky Wheel Is The One That Gets The Grease"..... -

The dock businesses greased some palms some where. I just wonder when there is no more shore line to place a dock, then what are they going to do. Oh I know it will be dock repair caused by the wake boats and big cruisers. So you see it is all about the all mighty $$$$$$$ We can't win for loosing..... -

Then we need to contact congress to get some actions going. Now who do the dock owners get the permission from to put no wake buoys out in front of their docks???? I'd like to get some across the mouth of Piney Creek............ -

Yes but one of the problems is getting the water patrol on the water where they are suppose to be to observe all of thru infractions to the boating laws of this state. -

A couple of years ago I was up in the back of Little Indian at Baxter and if you have ever fished up there you will know that it is not very wide. One of those wake boats came up there with a person riding a wake/surf board. the wake it generated was tremendous, I have a 20 ft bass boat and the wake almost put us on the bank and rolled over the nose of my boat put so much water in my boat that the auto bilge pump turned on. What happened to the 100 ft rule, for the wake boats, jet skis, water skiers, tubers and joy riders it apparently does not exist. By the time you could get a water patrol to respond by calling them the culprits will be gone and giving the water patrol the boat numbers does as much good as telling my dog. I really think if the rule/law about you being responsible for property damage and/or injury to from your wake and make it stick would go a long way in curbing a lot of these wake boats and large cruisers from creating these large rolling wakes..... Just a wishing........ -

The spare can be an alummium prop which is cheap and it will get you out of a tight spot while you obtain a replacement. -
People Are Going To Get Hurt On Tablerock........
GNSfishing replied to rogerdodger's topic in Table Rock Lake
That is part of the problem, not enough water patrol on the water. I put in at cape Fair 3 to 4 times a week to fish and that water patrol is parked in their stall 95% to 99% of the time. I believe that since the water patrol and high patrol became one that there has been more concentration on the high ways than the lakes. We all see violations every time we are on the lake and without enforcement present on the lakes people just do what they want. I see light violations on the lake just about every time I'm out in the evening. It used to be that I could go to the back end of Piney creek and fish in peace. But not anymore, last evening there was a boat up by the wilderness buoys pulled a tube with kids out of there like it was clear water regardless to the underwater trees in that part of Piney. -

GNSfishing replied to rogerdodger's topic in Table Rock Lake
I agree wholeheartedly with what you are Saying, but it is an up hill climb which is not winnable. The boats has steadily become too large for the small areas on Table Rock. The large wakes bounce back and forth in the small arms of this lake. The corps are not going to do anything to restrict boat size and how they are operated. Money is what talks and the skiers, joy riders, big boat, jet skiers, and spend more money for fuel and stall rentals than we fishermen do. So money talks........... -

GNSfishing replied to jlinmo226068's topic in Table Rock Lake
If I was going to have a prop repaired I would take it to Dyna Prop on Hwy 76. Cheap is not necessary the best way to go. Whom ever you take it to be sure to inquire if they use pitch blocks to set the pitch of your prop to factory specs. Some of the repair shops just use their eyeballs to set the pitch. I had a 25 pitch Tempest Plus repaired and my 24 pitch Tempest out performed the 25 by 8 to 9 mph at the same RPMS. So ask a few questions before selecting a repair shop..... -
Anytime you park your boat whether in a stall or on a trailer if is unattended it is fair game for thieves to take what ever they want. That's why mine is parked in my garage, they have to break in to get to it which that is a possibly. A thief is a thief when it comes down too it. They are looking for a free ride on the backs of honest people and those numbers are growing every day.
