Not sure where Steve puts in but I would say either Buck creek or sugarloaf marinas would be the largest depending on what side of the lake you are on. I’m lucky to have mine on a lift but I usually fish between the 2 mentioned.

Steve thanks and I for one appreciate these reports. I’m headed to the same area in 2 weeks and hope we have the same success. Just hope we don’t get a big cool down.

That is an absolute toad! Sorry you missed out on a fish of a lifetime but for sure you know they are there. Can’t wait to get back and try my luck again with the crappie as well.

Nice fish! We did well this past weekend mid-lake area focusing mainly on the back half of the creek just because we were catching them there. Caught most of our fish on a 2.8 but caught better fish on the jig. Shade was definitely a plus. Enjoy the rest of the week. At least a little bit warmer for the little guy the next couple days.

Jacob here is a water level/generation link as well. Good luck! Should be nice weather at least Bull Shoals Lake (army.mil)

Jacob, Good luck in the tournament. I'm heading down this weekend for the first time in 3+ months and we'll see how much I think I know of the lake 😊. Not really targeting any species as I'm just ready to catch something. you can get some water temp info if you search this. Bull Shoals Lake Water Temperature & Lake Level - AnglerSpy™ You can also look on youtube for some bull shoals video reports. Del Colvin just put something out a couple days ago that should help you get you started. I generally try to get down around this time every year. Some trips are good and some not so good. I'm thinking that this is shaping up to be one of the better ones but I always think this before the trip LOL! Have fun and enjoy! It is a beautiful lake.

24/7 That is a chunk! Looks very healthy. Would love to get down there soon but generally not until mid March.

Dang! That’s one that can feed a family! Very jealous and great job!

just think of it as a battle scar for enjoying the outdoors so much! Just wear the hat and sunscreen like I do now!

I'm sorry for you having to deal with this. Definitely not a fun trip to the doc. But I will say that they know what they are doing and you are better for getting it removed. I had a melanoma cut out in late 2018 and 4 months later was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer but like I said the medicine and knowledge now is incredible and I'm all clear and not looking back. Saved my port that was taken out last December after 2 years in my chest just to remember.

Nice fish! Thanks for posting these reports especially after the rain. I’m coming down next weekend for the first time this year and appreciate all the insight. Are there a lot of floaters in the creeks where you are at?

Early Season Questions - K Dock and Above

Interesting if a 5 or 6 hook sabiki rig possibly tipped with minnows targeting game fish is legal 😏 -
Nice lookin healthy fish! I would take that 3 hours of fishing any day of the year. Never thrown a jerk bait that color but there are things to learn everyday. Just wondering were you moving it pretty fast or letting it sit?

I'm going to do it from now on! Enough of that MacGyver stuff but actually made the trip! -

Fish I get it and I haven't posted much in the past but will try to do it more often. Problem is I normally only get to fish for a couple hours in the morning when the family is down. I hope you continue to post as I love reading them and seeing your hand painted cranks! -

Thanks to Aarchdale on his post on the crappie he was catching last week. The pictures really got me in the mood to catch some. Got out for an hour on Thursday and caught some mostly small bass. A couple on a jig but most were on 3.3" Keitechs. Focused on the steeper banks Friday, we got out around 9:00 after watching a bit of the Masters. Still on the steeper banks we started picking up a crappie or 2 on the same 3.3" swimbaits. When we would catch one, we would stop and cover the area and would pick up a couple more. Also isolated pole timber would also hold a few but we couldn't catch more than four on one spot. Lost 4 HUGE slabs at the boat as I forgot to put the net in the boat. We took a break for lunch and returned with the net. Wonderful afternoon for mid November and had a good time with the bass turning on in the afternoon. Same stuff, steeper banks and 3.3" swimbaits. Lots of SM and spots with only 1 or 2 small LM. Found some more crappie off a main lake steep point but only ended up keeping 12 after the early losses at the boat. Best thing is we never caught a short crappie. all were 12 - 14" and most were over 13". Saturday had about 45 min in the morning until the rains came. I was able to catch a bonus 21.5" Walleye for the basket on the same swimbait. Went out again in the afternoon and continued to catch a few more slabs in the same spots we caught them on Friday. Since the first basket was fairly full from the Friday fish and early walleye, I added the 9 more to a 2nd basket to all be cleaned on Sunday. That evening the front came through and thought the house was going to blow away around 3:30 Sunday morning. I went down to start cleaning the fish around 9:00 and... SOB! the basket with 12 slabs and the walleye had the line severed by the wind on the dock iron! I just use trot line cord and I guess it rubbed against the dock all night in the wind and sunk! After a call to my bros to help, we were able to find the basket with a naked jig head and then made a homemade grappling hook with a big treble, padlock for weight and dropped it down to retrieve the basket! Totally made the weekend as I was so bummed to have those fish just sitting on the bottom. All were still good and got several bags of filets for a future fish fry. All and all great weekend and beautiful weather for mid November. I'll be down Thanksgiving weekend and may be able to see if the crappie are still there and maybe catch a few wiggle wart fish. WT was 62-63 all over. -

Thanks for the info was able to get out about 4:15 and fished for an hour with my 2 brothers. Caught 9 mixed bass with biggest a 16.5” sm and tried dropping jigs on a brush pile but no crappie. We’ll definitely try again tomorrow and sat. Hopefully be able to take some slabs home.
-
Nice size to those crappie! Wondering if you were using minnows or jigs. Heading down tomorrow for the weekend and mostly will bass fish but may take a break and go after them.

Well I fished from the bank and did ok but nothing impressive to show. I fished Friday evening after a true gully washer and caught 8 but nothing really worth a picture. Went out again this morning for about an hour and caught 2 that squeaked 15” plus a few smaller. It truly is a pia to take a picture like this from the bank. Had to wash it off twice after flopping around in the dirt lol. Congrats to aarchdale and everyone else that braved the heat and participated! So I also caught what I thought was a goggle eye but now think was a warmouth. May try one last time this evening but wanted to get something posted.

Quill, Please sign me up. I donated to CAM. Good luck all! My boat is at the lake and I'm not so I'll try to at least get a halfway decent one from the bank of a local lake or 2 here in STL.

well at least it is not just this location that is having the shortages. I have been ordering more from tacklewarehouse.com bc I've been using more Keitechs and BPS doesn't carry them so I don't go in as much anymore. Which leads me to another point that TW.com orders with free shipping are delayed 2 weeks due to the increased volume and reduced staff. (Order placed 6/20 would ship 7/6). I had to cancel my order @ TW.com bc I needed it for the 4th, and placed an order Tuesday night with discounttackle.com and got it today with free shipping! Plus they are cheaper there. 👍 Just wondering if anyone has used them before.
