  2. I grew up working on a farm driving a tractor. I never wore a hat or sunglasses and rarely a shirt. Mickey Mantle once said, "if I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself." If I knew what I know now, I would have covered up. I visit my dermatologist every 6 months and we discuss my newest crop of "barnacles" and cut or freeze them and most of the time send a couple of samples to the lab. Forgive the glum nature of this post but I recommend covering up one way or another. ?
  3. This some very funny stuff!! Who would have ever thought to call a dink a "porch poodle gecko stub" LOL
  4. Phil Is 916 considered the TR "normal pool"?
  5. What Champ said! I broke down and bought Cabela's Guidewear bib overalls and goretex parka. They make all the difference. Before I bought the good all weather gear, I went fishing all day in the rain with Buster and I thought I was going to drown without even falling in the lake. I am still looking for gloves that work for me.
  6. Way to catch um Quill!!
  7. Everyone really wants to enjoy themselves but the old saying "it is not how much you make but how much you keep" applies even to prosperous young people as well. There is a significant difference between making a lot of money and having a lot of money. This is particularly difficult if you enjoy bass fishing...LOL This sport is EXPENSIVE!!
  8. I would like to echo what Quill and Champ are saying. Dave has really helped me catch more fish. It is going to be tough this spring deciding when NOT to use the Ned vs. other good alternatives. Setting the hook on a solid keeper on ML spinning gear is my idea of a great way to spend the day!
  9. Do you get extra points if the Warts are still in the original packaging? ???
  10. Thanks for the report. Nice meaney!
  11. There seems to be a pattern developing.
  12. Slow to very slow
  13. Guys, you might want to re-consider eating any meat that hasn't been brought up to at least 165 degrees. A greasy burger (read juicy) or a rare to medium rare steak may not really worth the risks. As identified by the CDC, eight known pathogens (bacteria, viruses and parasites that cause disease) account for the vast majority of foodborne illness, hospitalization and death in the United States: Salmonella Clostridium perfringens Campylobacter Staphylococcus aureus E. coli O157:H7 Listeria monocytogenes Norovirus Toxoplasma gondii Sorry for the buzz kill but these risks seem to be on the increase. A little less grease in the burger may not be what you bargain for in a few hours. 3 people died just last week.
  14. Great advice on the rod Dave! Several bites today when I had deadsticked the bait for several seconds. Slow works.
  15. Dang, 5bites and rps should I be paying a toll fee or surcharge when I cross the state line to fish with Randy? LOL
  16. Nice day Jeff......similar locations as we hit the other day?
  17. The day started out slowly and ended well. Jerkbait nada. Wart nada. Green pumpkin Ned 10. 10 feet or less. 50 degree water. 5 smallmouth with two keepers 4 Spots with one keeper 1 keeper largemouth You can't really fish this little rig too slowly right now.
  18. Gotcha.... thanks
  19. Randy, what was the water temperature and were you fishing wooded banks? I'm going out in the morning and debating throwing a wart or sticking with the Ned.
  20. Quill, thanks again for the companionship. I had a great time and we sure didn't run out of things to laugh about. The catching could have been a bit better but the fishing was great. Have a great weekend everyone!
  21. Richey. Were you working around pole timber or cedars?
  22. John Calapari or is it Calamari aka "The Squid"
  23. Here is a bit of a rusty hook alert..... Before I knew better I glued up some ned rigs so I would have them ready and not have to fuss with the glue in the boat.....that "little" bit of rust formed by the contact of Zinkers and the hook is worse than I thought...it rendered the hook weaker than 6lb Invisx... when I got hung, the hook broke instead of the line. Just saying that a biggun may break a "slightly" rusted hook.
  24. Thanks Dave....looking good
  25. Champ, the jerkbait and deep bite just weren't working for me.....the varmint, ned, little rig, TR turd, etc. seemed to be the deal.
