  1. general douchbaggery?... Like holding a grudge on a coach that hasn't coached your team for 3 years? Or blasting some guy that disagrees with paying big $$ for custom lures or paint jobs? Or classifying all the fishing jersey wearers as goobers? I've had old men pull in and throw across my line, had wrapped boats pull in on top of my fishing spot, but I've encountered MANY more people that were just as respectful as most of us try to be. Table Rock is a big lake, if some one encroaches on me I usually just go somewhere else. It's not worth getting mad about, especially since I had a friend get shot a few years back near Hot Springs. He's lucky to be alive, all over a fishing spot. I just think it's stupid to place a "tag" on someone just because they wear a particular shirt.
  2. You guys make me laugh, you're the same ones that think all young kids wearing their hat backwards or sideways are gang thugs. As for all the college shirts bing Alma maters...lots of Duke grads out there huh? I guess those Cowboy/Cardinals shirts are former pros too Geez
  3. I see several people sponsered by Arkansas Razorbacks and Florida State... To me it's no different wearing a fishing jersey of a company/brand you like than a particular team
  4. Maybe it was just the shock of seeing a guy in a fishing jersey....wait never mind that was some of you guys
  5. State owned ramps in Arkansas are no fee access, there was a big to do over it about 10-15 years ago
  6. Christmas Tree and okie shad(yellow back)
  7. I used to pour jig heads for $12 per 100...feel a little cheated now. But now that I really think about it, that was 25 years ago. Maybe I should break out the melting pots again
  8. We ran into Ron Shuffield one day, he has rep for being a jerk. He was coming out of a pocket that we were headed in, told him we were struggling to catch any and he dug out about $50 worth of cranks and spinnerbaits gave to us and said go over there and try those out... We didn't set the world on fire but caught a few.. I think we all have been known for being a jerk at one time or another. Ron sure didn't have to even talk to us but he went out of his way to help out couple college (at the time) kids get some supper.
  9. And most all where caught near that thing that holds the water in the lake.....sorry I couldn't resist, I know it doesn't last long but it sure is fun when they get shallow and stupid for awhile!
  10. Read somewhere it was 17# floro
  11. Ordered some menace grubs last Friday from TW... Good thing, today all green pumpkin and watermelon colors are out/back order.
  12. I was under the impression the flooding killed the grass at DeGray. Water was 20' high and dirty for a long time. Ouachita never really lost the grass, I go there often. Not as thick in some areas as it was but it never left the areas I fish.

Didn't they just recently fix up the first ramp, new asphalt and parking lot?
  14. I guess that piece of paper I received was from educators and an institution that lacked due diligence as well..or maybe things have changed since I finished my degree...Pluto used to be a planet right?....I don't believe everything I read on the web, in fact my worthless paper was handed to me before Al Gore invented the internet. We used ancient technology called books. I will just agree to disagree....thanks for trying not to make me feel bad, although I really wasn't
  15. dtrs posted a link earlier that supported this as well, from a fisheries biologist
  16. Don't have a link, so let's put it like this A change in barometric pressure changes the buoyancy of plankton...
  17. Ahh, I understand the confusion now... Didn't mean to infer that pressure only pushed downward. But according to many scientists in the world of aquaculture, the changes in atmospheric pressure does affect the movements of plankton.
  18. So if air can be compressed, the opposite is true as well? Like the spreading out of air in water...I truly believe we are on some level of saying the same things, I'm just not communicating very well thru text. simply put air pressure low or high affects the distribution of many species of plankton throughout the water column.
  19. You seem very knowledgeable about this subject, but I have a question about the comparison of plankton to submarines... I would think a subs ability to alter its buoyancy, also a fish swim bladder, would have a big impact on how the pressure affects it? I would also think the ability of a sub or fish propelling itself thru the water would be a little more efficient than plankton as well. Are these factors not considered when talking about pressure? I know my car seems to run easier at higher altitudes where there's less air pressure...
  20. Which is the reason a low pressure would make it easier for plankton to move about...
  21. Wayne, it's proven scientifically. Now does it mean you'll catch more fish because the barometer is dropping. Not really, lots more variables. But it's pure science about the plankton movement and it's affects on larger fish. Some believe a lethargic bass sitting by a stump is easier to catch than one roaming looking for food. At least you know the fish is by the stump, you can aggravate him enough to bite most times. But if he's out and about you have to search and cast more to get his attention. There are many variables involved in movement of bass, but science and good old fashioned experience has taught me that they bite best before a low front moves in.
  22. Dropping or low barometer makes it easier for plankton and zooplankton to move higher in the water column, this gets the baitfish moving around more to feed, which gets bass moving around more to feed. Rising or high pressure pushes the plankton to the bottom... This may be a bit over simplified but that's the jest of it
  23. F&F, what about Doug Hannon?
  24. Half way back viney creek was iced over Saturday about 4 pm
  25. A dry wash rag doesn't sink either, but a wet one sure will... Water absorbing into another material tends to become heavier than the water and less buoyant, therefore it sinks
