  1. Still looked a bit high, but the Gasconade & Big Piney look like hell around the Ft. Lots of devastation, Jerome looks completely different. Access is still closed.

    What's Cooking?

Was fun! Think the Pusser's Rum beat out the Pyrat. Good times!
  3. Sold! On its way to St Gen.

    Finally!

Covers Al's paddle. That's an excellent River LMB!
  5. The Laclede County section of the Gasconade is upstream from the management area (6 over 12" regulation in 2014). Would love to compare that with some samples from the Pulaski County Special Management Area (1 over 18" regulation in 2014).

    Suburban foxes

Plenty of wildlife inside the 270 loop in STL County. Ladue is stinking with deer and turkey. Don't see many deer in Webster, but a couple times a year. Foxes, coons, possums, owls, and hawks are common. See lots of bats when we have the pool lit up at night. Used to have a den of foxes in my backyard in Crestwood. Neighborhood Association jackwagon's were all worried about the foxes and wanted them gone, but I really enjoyed watching them in the back. They liked to hang around the storm sewer 2 houses down for some reason, but the den was in/under a 60' spruce tree in my yard.
  7. Always wondered why that bridge at Noser Mill was so big.
  8. $500 is kinda the minimum for a guide with two for a half day these days. All you want if fly-casting 60' plus for a couple hours. Pick up a small cast net and a bucket. Teach the kids to to toss it. Plenty of live bait and other creatures in the surf brea.
  9. Not to diminish your buddies catch, but 75% length to girth on a Salmonid seems way high. Good for him. A 26" brown is a great fish.
  10. Fish was not weighed. (26x19x19)/800=11.7lbs per formula. Still a great fish, but the proportions don't seem right. Is a fat one but not a gut fed Augustus Gloop Frankentrout.
  11. 25-26" and 7lbs.
  12. Would pick a shorter float. Kinda flat & slow below Rhymers.
  13. Electro fishing really is not that good for sampling larger fish that hold deeper. Zaps the crap out of smaller fish and minnows that hold shallow though. Current can't really reach the deep fish. Kills a bunch of minnows and shuts fishing down for a couple days cuz the fish are full of bait. Best they have, but just a sample. Method has a ton of variables. Boat driver, fish eyes and net skills of person on the net. Stretch sampled may not be the best, but they do same, same to keep it consistent. An indicator to derive an estimate is all it is. Look at the re-sample rate to determine effectiveness if provided. Thinking 50-60% re-sample if they are good or lucky.
  14. They will bite in the rain. Suit up and toss topwater at the right tide. Bomber Badonkadonk in Mullet Color or Clown, or a swim bait. Boat should move towards the flow of the tide, cast upstream, and not necessary to hit the bank. Work your way in towards the bank or you will bust/line a lot of fish.
  15. Did same but Capt John is always fun to fish with. Lives in Ft Myers, but usually fish Naples or the Glades with him. Wife enjoyed the tour through the Peace R., Matlacha. Out through refish pass. Heck of a ride in a hell's bay skiff. Did blow a shot at a 40" Snook. Look for the Bravo Mexican Market down in Naples. Usually pick up a cooler full of snapper there (whole fish) for $4-5 a pound. Worth the trip. Feed 10-12 a snapper dinner with sides for less than $100.
  16. Add Brentwood to your list. Deer creek has wrecked a bunch of stuff down by Feather-craft & Trainwreck over the years.
  17. Think will be in Ft Myers in a month or two. Inshore there sucked last year due to all th Ag runoff out of Ocheechobie, beach fishing on Sanibel is/was good. Ft Myers beach can be good too. if clear enough to sight fish.
  18. Nice dinner! It is tarpon time though. Sure it's on in the Keys, Buddy left for Naples today. Tarpon or big Snook is their program. Hit the beach early on the right tide and can catch right there.

    Whatchya Drinking?

It's what you like! Buy more of that and same year. Varies slightly. Have always done tastings with the booze sealed in a paper bag with a number on the bag. Vote for your favorite number but describe each and rank. Would not want to do more than 5-6 at a time in that level of detail though. After that it's time to party and kill your favorites.

    What's Cooking?

Weber Table/roller grills last. Have replaced a few grates and the handle for the ash can but still kicking after 12 years. Fine for occasional use (couple times a month), but would not hold up long to daily usage.
  21. Looks like a nice trip, good for you! What is the 3 digit color code for "Red Magic"? Might be easier to find that way.
  22. The Supremes & Shawnee style boats are too wide to handle well with a paddle, but can be controlled with oars. You would need a much narrower boat if you want to use a paddle or a pole.

    Whatchya Drinking?

Gotta do a side by side, but that varies too. Wine is good or not. Out of beer from the weekend so drinking some poisonous wine that my wife likes. Temperanillo just does not hit the right flavor for me. Pouring back in bottle, She will never know the difference.
  24. Might be fun to do an OAF Bluegill Slaughter. Teams of 2, entry fee of $X, team with the biggest bluegill wins. Split pot. Cover costs, rest to winners, maybe some or all to charity, winners choice. Just need a venue to host, fry fish, and $3 drafts. Could do Summer long bluegill, but based on length against an approved measuring device and a photo identifier and pic with a current date stamp.
  25. Not sure that Blue Spring CG is open, would check. Is a nice spot, never stayed, but looks good.
