  1. I've only fished the lower section...Waynesville down...mixed bag of trout, bass, and panfish. Not much water there...but a nice place to kill a few hours if you are on the way to or back from someplace else.
  2. Lessons learned....Don't bring rocks to a gun fight...Be kind to others.
  3. That Bett's Bee Should work...I also like the Gaine's Sneaky Pete's...Usually order them by the dozen...Chartreuse works great.
  4. Great report & photos! Thanks.
  5. Stupid is as stupid does. Both should have walked but the landowner has a good defense. They were coming right for me!
  6. Go during the Week..Monday-Thursday...I'd float from Blue Spring down to Alley Spring if it has enough water in it. Firewood wont be easy...I'd bring a folding bucksaw...or a 16" chainsaw...and an axe.
  7. Nice grass carp, good for you!
  8. Kinda small...60mm.Catch everything kinda lure,
  9. The Gasconade, does waste (lost flow under ground)near 7 then emerges a couple miles above the Roubi..17 I think. Hazelgreen gauge on the USGS would be your best indicator for the stretch you are contemplating. Bring some walking baits and buzzers...
  10. Gasconade Hills would be the nearest outfitter and they are well upstream of 133..Should be a nice float.
  11. Think that most river cabins start as play places...then they deteriorate over time...luxury items left to neglect.
  12. Pick up 500-3,000 acres of property, build a nice house and a private (80-100 acre) lake to provide a water view. Build it near the river. Land, home, private lake, near river. It's hard to hit on all four of those criteria...Maybe a permanent spring to stock trout in....Our keep your house...and buy a travel trailer, and a truck big enough to haul the trailer and your boats.
  13. I've landed plenty of silvers and sockeye on a 6wt. Best probably 14-16lbs. Have a 9' 6" 8wt Thomas & Thomas 8wt that I'd part with for a very reasonable price.
  14. River Data is a good app to connect with USGS stream gauges.
  15. It kinda ruins the experience when you see campers and a bunch of vehicles on a gravel bar. It used to be a problem at Sinkin Creek...but I think that one has been closed off. If your going to drive in to a UA campspot, at least have the common courtesy to park your vehicle out of sight.
  16. That's a good trip...Lane is a great place to stop, spend some time, and run around those mid-mo trout creeks. Good swimming for the kiddo's when its really hot..
  17. I agree with Al...plastic on the bottom...any brand, shape, or size will catch fish....but reliance on those lures will cheat you out of a ton of fun.

Think Larry is about 6'4" or taller...a 20" smallie would look like a minnow in his hands:>)!
  19. Thinking that we need to dial back the harvest pressure a bit to see more quality smallmouth. Current regulations allow abundant harvest at 12", and limited harvest at 15" and 18" in the SMBSMA's. The SMBSMA stretches usually fish better than most, IMO...except some of them are on the wrong areas, and most are fished, poached, limb lined, and gigged heavily. Our streams get a ton of harvest pressure in comparison to places up north.
  20. The spear fishing guy...didn't have a German name.
  21. I think that most of our Ozark Streams offer a world class experience, trout or smallmouth...but the smallmouth fishing is sub-par...high numbers and no size structure unless you can find something that doesn't get hit by the bucket brigade on a regular basis. As for Northern smallmouth being bigger...The average size is bigger, but growth is slower. I've never heard of a legit 10lb smallmouth coming from the Great Lakes Region...Some mid-9's but no 10'r..World Record and most of the 10's have come from the Tennessee Valley.
  22. It doesn't look like a typical Big River fish...Way too fat...still a nice catch...20-21" would be my guess.
  23. Send a PM to Smalliebigs, if he doesn't get back with you...send me a PM with your info and I'll ask him to call you. You can find Ron Krueger on facebook.
  24. Thinking Steve needs to debarb, but if you were tossing spooks...couldn't have been a bad day. Minor flesh wound...slap some Neosporin on it and continue.
  25. Glad we are back to fun. I love to fish walking baits, buzzers, and flukes in the summer time....but will drag some plastic on the bottom if I must. Bit of stain...I go with a swim jig.
