  1. Could write a book of funny stories about things left on top of a car.
  2. Gravel dredging really does not help. Dig a big hole and the hole will erode the upstream banks faster. If your gonna take some gravel skim a big gravel bar, and stay out of the creek. Figure that cattle, gravel operations, and development are the biggest unrestrained threats.

    What's Cooking?

  4. Bunch of divas 👠! It's fine float & tent camping weather.
  5. Pennies a day FW! Pennies a day!
  6. Got in the game today. 2 $99 Crossman gas springs for the girls and a new toy for me too. Can't wait for Christmas!

    New Rapala

Just a minnow bait with a big lip. Rapalas quality is not great. Have better success with the Japanese lures. No tuning required.

Anyone have an an opinion on the Insta Pot? Looking at the 8Q model.
  9. You don't have to file and pay taxes but it will catch up to you. You will get a non-filer notice or a notice of intent to levy from the service eventually. Maybe you want a mortgage and the banker wants tax returns.. Much easier to play buy the rules.
  10. You could fund qualified education expenses with a Roth, but the annual contribution limits are lower than the 529 limits and no state tax break. Plus grandma & grandpa can contribute to the kid's 529 plans too. I'm not a fan of whole life insurance (lots of hidden fees), but if you do have it you could take out a loan against the policy. The trade off is the increase in the standard deduction v your loss of exemptions. I you are not itemizing now, you will probably pay a little less but not much less.
  11. Best to scout new spots on the way to or from public access.
  12. Yes, that is in the house bill. 529's for the inutero.
  13. 529 plans are similar to a non-deductible IRA that is Missouri State tax advantaged. Put money for your kids tuition, get a Missouri state tax deduction, and it grows tax deferred. Any increase in value will be taxed if not used for qualified education expenses when funds are distributed, but if used for education the growth is all tax free. The maximum annual deduction is $8,000 if your single or $16,000 for married couple and you get a 6% MO tax benefit on your contributions (up to the maximum) in the year of contribution. That's a 6% ROR even if you put it in on Monday and spend it on the beneficiary's tuition h check clears! Any 529 plan qualifies for the MO deduction, so you are not tied to Missouri MOST.
  14. Run your numbers and see how it works for you. There are winners and losers with this one. No Crying, No Complaining, No Opinion Expressed. Just a heads up. BTW, 529's are worth looking into for the girl's Mitch. 6% MO tax break on contributions, and tax deferred is nice.
  15. Joe is being factious. He has given up on MDC after 20 years of complaining about them. Was a loud voice till they wore him out. I don't care about them either. Waiting to cut their funding. Could fire Nick & Jen Girondo as a measure of goodwill.
  16. Chief you have always been rather long with your I statements. My experience has been the same as many on the N. fork, Niangua, Current, Eleven pt. The trout & smallies do not seem to mix much in the summer. They prefer similar habitat, but prefer different temperatures in the summer months. Both seem to like warmer in the winter. It's my empirical evidence v yours but used to be a trout addict. Summer smallmouth on trout water is like winter smallmouth on bigger water. They hold in certain spots and not many.
  17. Don't care to debate politics but there are some winners and losers in this bill. Losers. -Higher Income families with Kids with itemized deductions over 28k. No exemptions for you our your kids, and loss of State & Local Tax deductions will kill you. Figure urban families making 150k and or so. My neighbor has 6 kids, and does well. Will lose some itemized deduction and $32,400 in exemptions. -Grandma in the nursing home or the family who pays those huge bills for Granny. No deduction under the house plan, maybe under the Senate plan. Costs for that can exceed 10k a month easy. Winners . -Folks with below average incomes who don't itemize. -Public Companies
  18. That is a total pipe dream Al. MDC knows best, just ask them. The arrogant bastards are fat, lazy, and behind the times in comparison to more eager agencies with less budget. A trip someplace else is usually worth it. Fished out of state more than in the last couple of years. Areas with better regs always fish better than MO.
  19. A float through Bear Trap Canyon near Livingston will happen on my next trip. Will need a Whirewater guide for that.
  20. Dry fly fishing out west can be fantastic if you hit it right and the scenery can be fantastic. Would go somewhere out West just for the scenery.
  21. It is crowded, but so is the Norfork. Colorado is pretty low on my list of vacation trout fishing states because of their stupid stream access laws. Landowner's own the bottom of the stream, so access is limited and public areas get crowded. I would look to Montana or Wyoming if you want to go out West.
  22. Looks like a spot mostly.

    What's Cooking?

Beef tongue is really good. Got to boil it for a couple hours then skin it. Mexican market up my office has it on the menu.
  24. Very nice! Fish of a lifetime!
  25. Might get a $3 fine per fish plus court costs for that.
