  1. Eat some Hogfish if in season. Offshore fishing is trolling mostly, though a school of dolphin can be fun. Bonefish possible there too. Could wade out on the flat shallows at low tide and find the cuts and holes that will be good when the tide moves. If there would go go tarpon, the rest are just bonus fish.
  2. They will have one next year...been going on for 30 years or more. Congrats to your kiddo!
  3. Nice...Think the Karban's Knotty Pines Tavern Bluegill Contest/Fish Fry is on Saturday as well. Usually first Saturday of June. If your near Paderborn, IL, its worth checking out, its a good time.
  4. Looks great! Enjoy your new ride!
  5. Depends on the type of experience you want...If you mind a ton of boat traffic stay above the B. Piney confluence at Jerome. Plenty of good water above and below, but if you need a rental boat I'd look to Boiliing Springs Resort in Dixon, or Gasconade Hills further upriver near Hazelgreen. Good water way above Hazelgreen too...Lots of rock bass if you want some fish to eat, toss the smallmouth back.
  6. Only 1 dead in my crew. T.C. Was a good pilot. Nailed the hook every time on Ranger. Got zapped with a stinger in Kuwait. Was flying a harrier at the time. Dads Uncle Will Roy died on Normandy beach. Is what it is. Some die, but we remember them.
  7. Thinking the headwaters of most are good to go. All the stuff is up in the trees or downstream.
  8. Awesome! Good for both of you!

    Whatchya Drinking?

Allot of Sauv Blanc's have allot of acidity, and a grapefruity tartness. Great for a hot summer day, IMO but you will like a wine or you wont. Find a wine you like, remember the place were its made, chances are that you will like the other wines from that area.

    Whatchya Drinking?

Dated a gal who is a Somelier(sp) before I met my Wife. She was more into wine regions than brand names. That Sauv Blanc is from Marlborough. Never had a bad Sauv Blanc from there. Kim Crawford, Starwood, Monkey something, all good and made there.
  11. Lots of flood damage in Devils Elbow, and Boiling Springs CG took a beating too. Don't know anyone who has floated it yet.
  12. The railroad crosses the creek next to John Coleman road.
  13. The second one looks like a smallie/spot hybrid. Both Nice fish!
  14. You can buy some plastic granules to texture your paint at the pool store. Used some when I repainted my in-ground pool steps last year. Works great and easy on bare feet.
  15. Have no idea what it looks like now. Rhymers has a bunch of deep around it. Blue Spring is a nice area, can always hop scotch access points till you find a spot. Plenty of informal access down that way. Grab a map, burn some gas. Buck Hollow to Rhymers is not that far. Dont think that many have solid advice at the moment. You get, what you will find.

    What's Cooking?

That's a very easy one, as are all cream pasta's..Nothing but Half & Half, some butter, seasonings, noodles, and whatever else you want to toss in the pot. Add some finely grated parmesan after the half & half comes to a hard boil to thicken and that's it. Add just enough to parm to thicken slightly, or it will turn into concrete or get lumpy when it cools. Fettucine Alfredo, Pasta Con Broccolli, Rigatoni Carbonara...They are all pretty much the same base with different noodles and ingredients. Con Brocolli gets a dash of marinara in the pot to turn the half & half pink.

The Pasta House in Affton. Still remember most of their recipes.
  18. Awesome! Is that a grayling? Looking forward to your report.
  19. Don't think I'd want to camp at Buck Hollow since its right by Highway 17. Would check the Ozark National Scenic Riverways Facebook page to see what is open and what is not. Several facilities, campgrounds, and access points are still closed. They are pretty good with updates.

Thanks, Learned to cook at an Italian restaurant while in high school. .
  21. https://stlouis.craigslist.org/rvs/6125140815.html We upgraded to a bigger camper and this one needs to go. Located in Webster Groves, MO. 63119 if you want to come look at it. Everything works, tires about a year old, awning replaced 4 years ago, and I'll toss in a weight distribution hitch, distribution bars, and a sway bar. Get this thing out of my driveway!
  22. Sounds like a waist of money if you fishing the Big & Meramec. Might be good in lakes, but the fewer gizmo's the better in a canoe or kayak...already have some fishing poles, have a fish finder.
  23. Legal and the right thing to do are usually not the same thing. Legal means the jackboots can't fine or confine you for it. Not the same as the right thing to do.

    What's Cooking?

Salmon cakes, spinach salad and some grain from a box this evening. Was good on its own but better with a little remoulade.

    What's Cooking?

Have not done a ham, but do bacon for a week, then cold smoke. Would probably use some nitrates and inject around the bone so it does not rot from the inside while it soaks.
