  1. Why the wire? Plain old fly tying thread should do just fine.
  2. Good for you...nice cutty to boot!
  3. It isnt my vehicle.....I dont float down there very often, but weve always parked and launched from the Northwest corner of the bridge. I've never had anyone approach us, much less ask for an access fee. (Weekdays and really early in the AM, do to the crowds down there)....Are you saying thats not in the bridge easement?....If not I'll pay your fee in the future.
  4. Just go fish....low & clear is what most wade fisherman prefer..but I like it best when the river is on the rise, or up and a bit milky...Experience has shown that it is the best time to hang a toad, or a bunch of active fish.Muddy...dont like it at all. Water clarity & temperature seem to mater most to stream fish. Cheers.
  5. $5 to park & $5 to launch...is a bunch of BS........I wont pay...and I never have ;>)!...I think your operation sucks the life out of that crick.......Wadda ya launch...5-800 boats on a Saturday?.....$40 a pop, 10-12 weekends a year, plus camping, beer, & charcoal....Concenrate on that.. Sell a couple more 30 packs and just leave the do it yourselfers alone...Heck, I might even stop and split a 30 pack with you......provided that it was fairly priced. Cheers.
  6. I do something similar when fishing deep water........I tie 3' of 25-30lb to my fly line with a nail knot...then tie the end to a big thingamabobber with a clinch not...Then I tie about 6'-7' or more of 3x to the butt section with a clinch knot...add another 12-18" of 3x to the first fly, then another 12"-18" of 4x to the second fly...Its not adjustable...but it works well if you dont mind re-rigging for each run, or for long drifts from a boat when you have someone along to keep your flies at a consistent depth...Cheers.
  7. The Penobscot 164 is a pretty good boat......Its kinda wide, and a bit heavy, but it should be good boat for fishing & extended trips in this part of the world. Cheers.
  8. Its not that big of a drop....But no telling what the removal will actually do, or what the new high bridge will do to the flow. Demo & Constuction will probably muck things up for awhile. That is certain. Cheers.
  9. Those are some nice fish...Good for you!
  10. Those are some wicked huge char....Glad your having a great time!
  11. I have allot of friends who paddle Disco 169's...they dont turn as well as my 17" Wenonah Spirit II. But they turn well enough.Better than a POS Coleman, Pelican or the like.... They are also very durable..I dont recall the Disco 164, but a friend has had a Disco 158 forever...good boat too.... The Bell Yellowstone Solo looks like it would make a competant solo fishing canoe. It probably wont track as well as a Vagabond, shorter, more rocker......but it looks allot better than an OT Pack......I'd grab it if the price was right. Paddle it a couple times, and if you dont like it, sell it for what you have in it....Cheers.
  12. Gotmuddy, your stuff is in the mail..Anyone else want some of this stuff? Pics of the stuff that shipped have been deleted so everthing shown (Except for the two Sammy's) is still available.
  13. All of the above will work...but if not...make yourself a ferrule puller out of some scrap wood & an appropriatelly sized drill bit. http://mysite.verizon.net/vzn05zew/rodbuild/TOOLS/tools.htm But I'd look up your rod warranty first....if its got an unconditional guarantee...just send it in for a replacement.
  14. Looks like a good trip in spite of the crowd....Pretty nice bow for that part of the river, thanks for the report.
  15. Had some dead time at a meeting last week...A client of mine showed me how he could monitor & pan around on his security camera's at his business & home through his cell phone.....Might as well be on your best all the time these days...you never know who is recording what. Cheers.
  16. C'mon up, anytime..... the fish arent as big...but its a heck of allot more than fishing in a barrel below an ugly chunk of concrete.
  17. PM Sent...
  18. Sounds like allot of fun...Thanks for the excellent report.
  19. Maybe they can spawn in peace this year..
  20. Let me know what you want. I'll take $4 each for the Subwalks, $3 each for the rapala & yozuri minnow hardbaits, $2 each for the rebel minnows, wee craws & bandits. $5 for the lot of buzzbaits, $3 for the lot plastics... Plus actual shipping of course....
  21. Definetly a chain pickeral, and a pretty nice one..They are fairly common on the Current & 11pt....Usually find them in weedy back eddies, or in spring holes in the winter time..Blue gill crankbaits, jerkbaits, and in-line spinners work well for them. Cheers.
  22. Those Mohawks solo's look pretty nice...A definite upgrade from a Pack...Had an OT Pack years ago...It paddled pretty well, but it always felt a bit wobbly to me...I dont miss it.
  23. Fish structure in the slower water, and use a small tube or marabout jig in crayfish colors...There usually in pretty thick stuff or rock gardens. So think of it like its crappie fishing..Snake your jig through the limbs and around rocks your bound to catch a few. They like small poppers too...might fish a popper with a wooly bugger or a crayfish flie tied 2' away off the bend of the popper as a search rig.....Smallmouth are usually in water that is a bit faster. Have a great trip.
  24. I'd avoid the hassle and stay at Justin's place for $8 a night. Spend the difference on some camp gear if you need some......You could put in at Hammond and camp on the FS land, but its mostly private land bordering the trout water. Best trout floats...Kelly to Justin's place...or Justin's place down to James Bridge....Ugly water between James and Dawt, and a mill dam to portage before you get to lake Norfork. Cheers.
  25. The Tarpon 120 is a fine SOT...it would be a great day trip boat for the White...its pretty fast, tracks incredibly well, and its very stable...downside...small gear capacity, heavy, and hard to turn. For overnights...I like a canoe....either a tandem or a solo...just depends on the conditions...High Water, Low Water, or lots of gear required. I solo the tandem...Its a drier ride at high water, and I drag less with the bigger boat at low...My solo is a Wenonah Vagabond...its a great flat water cruiser, but it takes in water occassionally when your run standing wave trains and almost every time you run a decent sized drop..Not the boat you want for extended Class II water, and forget class III...Same can be said for most SOT's. If I was in the market for another solo...I'd be looking at the Wenonah Wilderness....bit bigger than my Vagabond. Cheers.
