  1. The quality went up even more with you on the front brother. Best of luck to you.
  2. I fished some of Heartland last year. Some real great sticks on that circuit. The Pros I fished with were very friendly and informative. You almost have to link with someone to make sure you fish. I am not fishing it this year. I decided I would rather fish out of my own boat and am going AIA. Central Pro Am has a new owner and they seem to be fisherman friendly. I would look at schedules and see which matches up best. I am fairly excited about the CPA and plan on hitting some of the buddy tourneys, depending on funding, price of gas and so on.
  3. Lots of good info here. Almost should be a sticky?
  4. Are we home yet? I was going to fish tomorrow (winds of 20 mph+), but now I have to work. Hope you are doing well!
  5. I have been waiting for this discussion. Can't wait for the pros to weigh in. As a rookie.....I love Eakins/Jewel jigs. I have used a bunch, but I always go back to them. I have actually set the hook and reeled in a rock with their jigs. I do like the Chomper's jigs too. Another great jig is the Hawg Stump lure jig. I think he is out of LOZ somewhere. As far as hook setting.....it depends on the fish. Sometimes they take it and go, sometimes they suck it in, sometimes they seem to nibble on it and I try to time the pop on their nibble. I love the jig. I think it is the most versatile awesome lure made. You can swim it, drag it, hop it, verticle jig it......almost anything. It is easy to have a kid use too. E.P., please tell Troy and the crew they have to owe me a commision by now! Almost everyone that fishes with me ends up a fan of the Eakins jig.
  6. I had kept checking, but was afraid to pry. I am glad you posted the update. Funny how the little forum group starts to feel like family. Tell sis I miss her.
  7. I plan on putting in and fishing the same area as Buster did. I hope he takes Saturday off!
  8. Many thanks! I haven't been on the lake enough the last two weeks to keep up. Your guys' reports are huge at eliminating water and narrowing down patterns. Thank you.
  9. My brother is in the service in Seabrook, SC. Plan on visiting him this summer. Welcome to the board.
  10. Worked
  11. I love fish stories. I hope the fun holds until Saturday! Rogue bite on yet?
  12. I second the Maxima vote. I always go back to it after trying one of the new lines. Knot strength is good, you often straighten a jig hook before breaking the line. I know it is a personal preference thing, but mot folks who fish with me end up putting Maxima on their reels
  13. When is the KC sport show this year?
  14. Thanks for info.
  15. So a heated dock is a dock inside a heated shelter? I lived a great deal of my life in Intl Falls, MN and never heard of one. Sounds like a great place to have a barbecue!
  16. We men don't give up the remote control! Best wishes sister.
  17. Donna G. You ever think about being a writer for some outdoor magazine? Your posts are always interesting and tell a great story. Champ scored the jackpot when he netted you.
  18. Low 50's, wind and sun.....I smell spinnerbait and wigglewart! Have fun in the new rocket.
  19. Awesome Web page. I even registered for Dgrins forum. I have a blue heeler and really like the heeler mix photos on your page too.
  20. I lived at 7 Koko Drive, North Little Rock for a few of my formative years. North Little Rock was about how you would picture it back then (1976ish). My Dad was a foreman with Jensen Construction and he and the company built a couple of bridges there. I will forward him the photos. I know he will get a kick out of seeing them. Thanks.
  21. Don, I chickened out on the tourney. I think I turned into a fairly fair weather fisherman. I didn't know you were looking for boats to take the young adults in. When they decide the spring tourney day let me know. If I am not already registered for a tourney, and they don't mind a regular feller (not a Pro) with a little Skeeter, then I would love to take one of the students out. I would even pitch in $50.00 for the honor.
  22. Seemed like good weather yesterday. The Mrs. asked me to hang Christmas lights. I enjoy hanging with her, but prefer to hang with her on the lake. Did the crappie turn on at all this year?
  23. I bought the color one, H2O C about three years ago. The batteries last quite a while and seem to be waterproof. I also have a Garmin that I use for geocaching. I like the Garmin better. It seems to pick up and keep the signal better. I don't really use either one a whole bunch for fishing. I keep a log for where I catch fish on what lure, when and what type of conditions. So you can mark a spot with the GPS, but it doesn't allow you to document the rest of the info. In my opinion it is a good (mostly waterproof) GPS.
  24. Jackson Hollow
  25. My partner just called and he said he would gladly swap me for you. Your boat seems to catch more fish.
