  1. 1. Basscat 2. Stroker 3. Allison Champion would be my number one but since Prime Equity killed it it's not an option. For the money I would buy used.
  2. My vote would be for Denny Brauer but I believe Brent Ehrler is closing in on everyone really fast.
  3. Simple green and a magic eraser.
  4. Someone's needing help at the reel counter. Employees and boat sales please get off your computer.
  5. Comments like "they are a lot better than they were 15 years ago" doesn't really make me want to own a Nitro. KVD would never bite the hand that feeds him and move on to another boat, I wouldn't either. I will say that Johnny Morris did really well with the million dollars his father gave him to start a business. He could have just squandered the money, not sure I would go so far and call that an Amercian success story.
  6. I don't feel like it was garbage at all. I've never met you but I trust what you have to say about any of the equipment that you use and I really appreciate your honesty. Boats, reels, lures, whatever... I appreciate the facts and not a sponsored sales pitch. I've even recommended you to people looking for a guide because of what you share on this forum. Keep up the good work. We all want to be informed consumers when it comes to the prices of fishing equipment these days. It's all getting way to expensive to waste our hard earned money on garbage to begin with. Thank you!
  7. I've never had a Lew's reel but I would sure like to give one a try. The only new reel I've purchased in a while was the Academy brand 10 ball bearing Mettle on sale for $25. The absolute best reel for your money and if it breaks return it for a new one with no questions asked. I now have 9 of them. The only other reels I own are Abu Garcia and Shimano spinning reels. As far as the boat choices go the only new boat I would ever buy would be a Bass Cat. I wouldn't even consider any thing else. Since I can't afford one, I bought a used Mountain Home built Champion 202 and couldn't be happier. It runs and rides like nothing else on the water and I would consider it the best performing hull ever built.
  8. What mixermarkb said. I would use heat lamps and dry it out for two or three days minimum and then get it resealed. Pat Goff on the champion forum on Bass Boat Central can tell you how it's been done before.
  9. I've always thrown a 5 inch Kalins smoke pepper on cloudy days and a 5 inch Kalins smoke with no flake on sunny days. I've also been using a 4 inch Kinami natural shad the last couple of years with really good luck. I always throw them on a homemade 1/4 oz. round ball head with a single clear 80lb test weed guard with a 4/0 hook. 6lb test Trilene XT green.
  10. Welcome to the forum! I couldn't agree more!
  11. Sorry officer but I didn't realize those ducks were decoys.... Citations and suspensions? That's a long shot and a waste of your weekend. Only in a perfect world. Life's to short. Sorry, but old farts are just as capable of being disrespectful as newer generations and somehow you think your problems will be solved if they only had the belt. You're dreamin!
  12. If I can't get them to come up after after a spinnerbait or an A-rig sometimes I'll try pumping a Little George through the tree top. A Little George can be dynamite if the wind is howling. I cut the bottom hook off of the treble to keep it from hanging in the limbs. This allows the bait to slide right over.
  13. Why would anyone try duck hunting on a busy recreational lake and not think it would get frustrating at some point? That's like deer hunting on public land and getting pissed because someone walks under your tree stand. I once had a bird dog sit under my stand and bark at me when a group of quail hunters were hunting a nearby field. They had just as much right to be there as I did. On public land and public waters that comes with the territory. You have to ask yourself, what exactly are your expectations when you're dealing with the general public?
  14. If you are a "fan boat" and you are following the pros around I would not fish. If you are out on the lake just to go fishing, then do just that. I would not pull in to an area to fish if I saw spectator boats and pros fishing. Go find your own water. If a pro pulls in on you just keep fishing like you normally would. If he's respectful of my area and asked if he could fish near me I would pick up my trolling motor and move on and feel good about the fact that a pro wants to fish the water I've found, but you certainly don't have to!
  15. Bill, it sounds like you need an assistant. Shoot, I'll work for free just to hear fish stories all day!
  16. I use Trilene XT and Big Game in green. I think it makes a big difference and I used to always throw clear.
  17. I'll take a look at those. I'm heading there tonight. Thanks!
  18. Does anyone know where I can find the brown and purple laminate #921 ? I've looked at several places online and can't find anyone that carries this color. I prefer to buy from a local shop.
  19. It was Brent Ehrler and it was a cold March.
  20. Academy H2O xpress Bagley BII
  21. I'm not impressed yet as well. I went to bull shoals on Saturday and caught 3 small spots with it. Caught more fish on a wart and stickbait but I threw the A-rig almost all day. I need more seat time with it.
  22. I start out by cutting one 24 inch piece and then bend it in half around a nail set clamped up in a vise to get the main loop. I then cut three 12 inch pieces and bend a small 90 degree bend on one end. I then feed all the ends through the tube. I clamp the main tie in a pair of visegrips and then use a cold chisel and an anvil and pinch down the tube in a couple of spots then finish flattening it out with a hammer. I finish by cutting the wires to the desired length and then use round nose pliers to bend the ends for the swivels. After it is done I use a grinder and grind down the 90 degree ends that may be hanging out over the edge of the tube just to smooth it off. http://i1196.photobu...IA_IMAG0118.jpg http://i1196.photobu...IA_IMAG0119.jpg
  23. Cable crimps or just tubing cut to the right length and used as a cable crimp. I really like how you can slide the head of a swim bait right over the end of the harness. I made half a dozen yesterday in about 30 mins. Very easy to make.
  24. Go to http://www.mcmaster.com/# Item # 7678A32 and Item# 8989K732 Stainless .045 solid mig wire and stainless tubing that has a perfect inside diameter for a five wire rig. It will make more than you will ever need for $29.42 plus shipping. I'm using this method and it works great! http://fishingskirts.com/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=1127 http://fishingskirts.com/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=1126
