Snagged a limb that had about 10 ft of line wrapped on it. To the end of that line was a gold and black countdown that had a 8lb brown trout attached to it. Limb was about 20 feet long. Managed to land everything. Trout and Limb were released. Line recycled, and still have the countdown. We pretty much fly fish for trout these days, but most of our trout hardware has come from the White River, including the tackle boxes. People dumping rental boats, etc. Always asked the docks if anyone lost stuff, but no takers, so now we own it.

Can you use multiple fly rigs at Roaring River, or is it single fly only? Thanks

Where can you access Little Buffalo ?

Good thing about Winter is there is no snakes. Lower Richland is Cottonmouth Heaven. No Kidding.

Try an 8.5 to 9 foot 5 weight, but put a 6 weight line on it. We like double tapers. Most cats are short, and this will load your rod better.

7-20-14 Wake Boat, Jet Ski, Pontoon, And Fish Report
rhondafish replied to YAKFM's topic in Beaver Lake
Only time I've EVEN SEEN LE is at Twin Bridges during White Bass Run. Once, two years ago. Guy was in his truck, under the bridge on a rainy day. He was reading a Clancy Novel. 2nd time also at TB, This past Spring. Guy was writing a ticket to an out of towner for making a wake at the ramp. G&F man said, No Wake Zone at ALL ramps. Posted or Not. -
Have read with interest the Night Fishing Information. We are new to Beaver Lake Fishing and have questions re Anchoring. What style and weight of anchor? (Have a 17 ft deep V , Walleye style boat) What type (material), length, and diameter of anchor line? Thanks for your help

Where is the Beavorama ramp ? Are you talking about the Game and Fish Commision Ramp at the 412 Bridge? Thanks,

Cabela's in Rogers seems prety pricey on a lot of stuff. I'm noticing Academy, Wally World, and even Southtown Sporting Goods beats them on a lot of pricing. Are you guys (and Gals) noticing the same?

Buffalo River Officials Fighting Plant Thefts
rhondafish replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Buffalo River
It strikes me thatit's unlikely th typical Government employee marking said plants probably would have a hard time finding them, even if he was one of the few who could identify it if he saw it. Unfortunately, most folks cannotID even 10 commom plants in theirneck of the woods...let alone one that is hard to find. I'm all for protection in the Park of everything...but this idea seems far fetched, pie in the sky.."seemed like a good idea in the meeting " kind of a plan -
Buffalo River Officials Fighting Plant Thefts
rhondafish replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Buffalo River
This "Marking Plants" is assuming that the Govrnmentactually has people who can not only ID the properplants, but can find them too.... -
This Past Weekend. Below Beaver Dam. Houseman Ramp does not look doable. The Bertrand Ramp is good for a flatbottom. Saw a boat that had put in there and gone all the way up above Parker Bottoms. Both ramps at BeaverPark are usable. The gravel one seems to have a gravel hump off the end of it, so be careful there. The other ramp, the concrete ramp is steep, but with a 4WD should notbe an issue. Watcheda guy put a 22 foot pontoon in there. No trouble at all. Will reportmore as we check them out

For Wrench again. thisis very informative. Thanks, and really appreciate sharing of experience. If not using boat with builtin tank for a few months, since you can't actually run it entirely empty ( Or maybe you can..but how?) Is condensation in tank / fuel lines a problem with an "empty", or nearly so tank..and what is cure for that? thanks again

For Fishin Wrench. We run a 2004 Merc 4 Stroke and have a 1999 Yamaha 2 stroke 9.9 kicker. Both have only had no ethanol in them, and we are real careful about clean fuel. We only plan to run pure gas, but this discussion has made us curious Question is this: Are these engines safe to run ethanol thru? If not, what do you suggest? We are pretty much Do It Yourselfers...learning as we go. Thanks

Redingtojn seems to make one with a padded collar..Saw one in Cabela's recently. Any padded collar needsto be a Hard foam collar in order to be comfortable. See how it fits with stuff in it. I always prefer a mesh type vest, and prefer vertical pockets with velcro; no zippers on outer pockes, My favorite is a Patagonia. Don't think it's made anymore. Mesh is cooler in Summer and dries fast Always buy bigger than you need to fit over raingear ./ winter clothes

Calling Bass Experts - Finding A Sensitive Rod
rhondafish replied to mic's topic in General Angling Discussion
I'm with Feathers on this one....I always, regardless of tackle being used keep my finger on the line..and I'm also a line watcher...Sometimes they swim toward you when they pick up a bait, which cannot really be "felt" so much as seen. Watch where your line enters the water...You gotta pay attention...I've even hooked fish outside the mouth, but near the mouth from watching my line move. "Tight " lines...no Pun Intended -
Agree with Thom...you gotta pay attention. I have an old article an=bout White River...from Field and Stream I believe that points out the White River is one of the Ten most dangerous in the United States. You gotta know what you're doing and always pay attention to what's going on around you. I've picked up many a wader at Wildcat Shoals in my boat that "Thought he could wade across" when the water was coming. No horn down there...and these folks didn't some how "feel" the water or th"see" debris floating down. To a person they all remarked when we got them to the landing, "How surprised they were at how fast the water came up." And just 'cause you got a boat..don't think you can relax either.
-
Things pretty low this past weekend from Pyatt to Snow, though we did see a few waders. Don't think anything is real good floating right now. You might call the Fred Berry Center at Kelly's Slab to see what the water looks like from there to Yellville. The hot fishing this past weekend was the White River for Trout. We caught 40 in less than two hours before crowds and heat drove us out.

Don't know about a Bass Pro, but I did read in paper that Academy is going in in Fayetteville, Close to the Mall and the Super Center, by the new movie theater. Can't see a big Bass Pro though. Not with stores in Branson and Tulsa..but hey, maybe more competition is good for all of us working stiffs.

Camping Bull Shoals State Park 5/9/12-5/12/12
rhondafish replied to txspecks04's topic in White River
Rim Shoals is good. Try Kelly's slab area or Snow for Crooked creek. (Near Yellville). A good shoal to fish is below the Spring in the park itself. Big Fish area at night, and off the park boat ramp at night. Norfork, Buffalo. White River, Crooked creek. Should all keep you bz and in fish. No need to go over to Spring River. Fished Crooked Creek and White River last weekend and caught so many fish we got tired of it... Fly, Lures, or bait. Everything is working. -
Place was called Fenton's Welding in Whiteville. Between Midway and Gassville. Should be in the phone book or Google it. I believe the man's name was Bill Fenton. I haven't been by there in about 10 years, so don't know if he still is open or not. Makes excellent (Reasonable priced ) Welded guards for lower units of outboards used on White River also. All my anchors I've found in the river. Usually with the ropes still attached...but no boats though. Good Luck
