Emergency areas Justin, don't recall where they were located but had shelters. And getting the infrastructure back up and running is a priority but people need to understand it takes time. Frances and Jeanne kept me without power for 8 weeks not like the crews were not working but in so much devastation they can only do what they can do and you have to just grin and bear it. For the most part it wasn't to bad and had the Love Doctors and Lexus to keep everyone laughing during the day on the radio. Wouldn't want to go through it again but sure was nice to see so many people pulling together to help. Interesting side note 9 months later the hospitals were very busy lol.

Yeti Coolers = 4 Blade Razors?

Al, if memory serves me correct Coleman made the ones your talking about and there was a chemical in the insulation that was toxic under "California" standards and it got pulled. Might be wrong on the maker but remember the toxic stuff because I remember laughing about it. Heck a rose is toxic in California. -
Wayne the government made busses available for people to leave including shuttles to come pick up people who had no means to get to them. All efforts pre-kitty were made to evacuate everyone who wanted to leave. After it hit they were on their own and justifiably so. All the government agencies told people they might not be able to help them during or after the storm for some time. It really isn't governments job to put others in harms way for stupid people. This really isn't about politics as it is about people wanting hand outs and crying when they don't get them fast enough. Substitute the words Katrina for Sandy and see the same thing. Here is the truest sign it was going to be bad... When you see every Democrat and Republican all agreeing it will be devastating and all agreeing people need to get out and even going on the News together agreeing and telling people get out. People need to listen and GET OUT you NEVER see them all agree on anything they did on this and that should have scared the hell out of everyone to GET OUT. Now as to the new topic at hand. We need less Miley and more Miranda! and if Miley was on a pole I would demand my money back for the cover charge and beer I spit up.

Oh she is so going to kill you for posting that picture again lol. Kayser; what it sounds like you need is a cart! I can transport 2 layouts and 7 dozen magnum goose shells my blind bag, gun and other goodies on 1 decent cart. It takes the load off your back and makes for a much more enjoyable day. Cart also had all that and 73 snow geese on it at one time. You may want to look in to a cart no matter what.

Ham I have to disagree with you. Though your first point is valid in regards to the levee system. As to the evacuation system and routes. It is the PEOPLES FAULT. 7 Days+ notice was given, and that is more than enough time for everyone to have got out of the coastal towns especially one thats a big toilet bowl that as any plumber knows gets its water from the tank above and in its case below it and to its side. When you see a mouse riding on top of a cat on the back of a dog, dont ask why FOLLOW because something bad is coming!

Im not sure of your point or why you would put this up even. But GET REAL! The Governor of the State at the time was Kathleen Blanco a democrat! The Major of New Orleans was Ray Nagin a democrat! Our President was George Bush a republican! ALL OF THEM as far out as a week were saying GET OUT! It is not any of the politicians fault that people were absolutely stupid enough to stay especially when so many opportunities to leave were there, so much time and government agencies were providing ways out. There is always stupid people who think they can ride out a hurricane and sometimes they are ok. Katrina was no small hurricane and had been followed closely by all the media and her power was well know and the devastation she would bring. I get sick and tired of hearing about her and anything related to it. Government couldn't get in to places any government agency the devastation was unreal. The fault is not on any of the politicians or government agencies Local, Parish, State or Federal! It clearly is on the idiots who tried to grab a tiger by the tail and thought they would be fine. As to the polls same Idiots are probably the ones being polled who tried to play with the tiger.

Yeti Coolers = 4 Blade Razors?

Four blade here but it was a gift I do not buy a product to fit in with the "in crowd" I laugh at all these people who have to have the "name brand" to feel like they are a sportsmen. 1. Camo Patterns. I cannot even begin to guess how many times I have crawled in a deer stand after work in my work clothes and knocked down a nice deer. You have to have hunter orange on so why would you spend hundreds on Camo when jeans and a t-shirt works just as well? 2. Scent control. Same as above but my biggest Buck was shot while I was smoking a nice Ghurka and sipping steaming hot coffee. If you play the wind you don't need the scent control. 3. Face paint and Beards for duck hunting. I don't paint my face and don't ever wear a beard. Movement is the killer. Again same as number 1 on clothing though I do put on the Camo late season or in heavily pressured areas. But its movement that bust the birds more than anything. I have shot them wearing blue jeans and a blue Columbia shirt and even sitting on a rock in the middle of a lake in jeans and a t-shirt. 4. Decoys. Why buy the hottest most expensive name brand on gods green ( brown in hunting season) earth when there are others out there for much less that work fine? If the birds are close enough to ready the manufactures name I better be shooting and not admiring the decoys! 5. Guns. I still have my grandfathers 1953 870 wingmaster and it has killed game since day 1 and never had a problem. Yes I have others I use but truthfully its because I wanted them not because I needed them. That old 870 is all the gun anyone ever needs. 6. Coolers. Had a old Coleman for 20plus years and I know it was older than that as I inherited it. Only reason I don't still have it is due to it and a Cat9 having a argument. Now I have a couple igloos. 1 for food and drink 1 for game and fish. Rule of thumb 1day trip requires 14 lbs of ice bags or 1 7lb block of ice. both are 52qt and 70.00 for both combined. In the boat I have two built ins that last all day on the water. Biggest must have is (Shipping Ice bags. Those dam things will last 24 to 48 hours and can be reused many times I love them) I have found over the years People buy the "Name Brand" to fit in with the "in crowd" or the pretty things. Sportsmen are worse than women at a shoe or jewelry store they have to have the name brand and shiny pretty thing. This seems to be an illness in the younger generations but is not limited to them. Seems it is also found in the older generation that should know better but when they typically partake in the sport with large groups of friends find they must have the biggest name and most expensive toys to fit in for fear of being mocked. I Believe this disease is contagious people catch from spouses in the older generation caused by to many days forced to go shopping with the wife. It is NOT Curable as the cure causes loss of half of all possessions. My suggestion is refusal to partake in shopping excursions. Musthavenamus brandus disease can be countered with the simple word NO! However it also has a determent side effect known as Lackonukky! So the cure and the 12 step programs are both counter-productive to the mans enjoyment of the outdoors. The only solution that works is for the younger generations only as the older ones are ( well to say it simply) " SCREWED"! So to the younger generations EITHER A. Do NOT GET MARRIED OR B. Marry a woman who loves the outdoors. B. is very difficult to locate but its fun weeding through the wrong ones:) -
I'm going to go the way you don't want to. I have hunted since 1976 in fields the days when you had to dig down and lay on a tarp in the mud with burlap covering you. When lay-outs came along so did heaven. There is no way you could get me to lay on the ground anymore without a layout! That said there are good layouts that are not extremely bulky or difficult to transport in the field. Sure if you go with the top of the line all the bells and whistles ones they are a pain in the butt. I use a Avery Power Hunter and it is simple to get in the field and keeps me warm and comfortable. If your heart is set on laying in the mud and freezing your butt off and getting muddy and just being miserable though here is how we use to do it. 1. Get a burlap tarp 2. Get 2 5 gallon buckets of dirt ( preferably from the field you will hunt most ) 3. Put dirt in wheel barrel add water till its soupy when stirred 4. Put in Burlap and stir around for about 10 minutes. 5.( This is added for todays tech ) buy packages of grass and zip-tie to burlap. 6. Let burlap sit in it overnight 7. Pull burlap out and hang over clothing line to dry 8. When its dry beat it on the line with a broom to loosen it up 9. Roll it up and its ready to go. 10. When you get to the field you will need to dig down ( digging only with landowners permission ) at least 16 inches deep by your body length long ad 2.5 ft wide. 11. Lay a tarp on the ground. 12. Lay tarp over the hole and use field cover to spike it in to at least your waist area. 13. when you are done fill back in the hole. This system worked for many years till the comforts of layout blinds came along, It takes a lot of work and you will end up muddy, wet and cold but it works and brings birds in close. Price wise by the time you are done getting the ground cover ready it can still cost you around 90 to 150 bucks. The burlap tarp is around 20 bucks for a good one and the grass packs at minimum of 3 will run around 60 to 90. We use to just grab cattails and corn silage stocks to do it but they required much more maintenance and the rot smell from natural cover made the women folk upset when we stored it plus they broke down so the synthetic of today would be better. Good luck, Everyone should play oldschool games once in awhile.

In timber when the lake hits 1115 or lower in the early morning or late afternoon. Also good in buckbrush.

I had to look around a little but that boats bow sweep look more like a modified V for John Boats. Probably good for rivers but not for the big lakes here is the pics I found of it http://www.hookedoncatfish.com/Ark.html that bow area on the hull is not what I would call a Deep-V design. There homepage sucks for seeing things

http://www.trufire.com/broadhead_switchblades.html Love them they fly like a field point so no correction needed from the Target to the field been using them 4 years now and never a problem.

two rods with leadcore will run about 100 for the line depending on brand type and amount. A pair of downriggers will run you from 180 to 500 unless you go crazy with the all electronic stuff. Mine ran 350 for the pair. I replaced lead core line every 6 months to a year so in 3 to 4 years they are paid for.

Here is what I have learned. 1. Butchers meat beats store bought every day. I don't know why but I can taste a difference and I don't feel bloated after. 2. Farmers Market beats store bought and always has. 3. Soda's are bad no getting around it. 4. Coffee will never be off the list 5. Moderation in eating and you can still have the foods you like 6. Exercise is very important. 7. The more fish the better 8. Corn looks the same coming out as it did going in so cant be that good for you but its tasty. 9. A snake of apples or peaches is better than a Twinkie but I like Twinkies so one a week is ok. 10. Do not tell the wife how much you loose or you will be sleeping on the couch!

I use to use lead-core but really hated it for several reason first is it was heavy feeling and took some of the fight out of fishing not to mention the large volume of line you had to let out to get down deep. I can manage both my riggers without much hassle and only takes 50 feet of line out plus dropping the rigger to 14 ft for me to reach 35fow. Riggers ran the way I do put me on contour and holding it much more effective than having a large amount of line out and reduces potential for snags also increases my ability to turn much sharper while keeping the bait in the strike zone. Riggers benefits far out-weigh any detractions.

Stepped On This Critter Wade Fishing My Local Creek Last Weekend

JD, Epipens are Epinephrine with is a vasoconstrictor not a vasodilator! Venom once injected starts working immediately and depending on bite location/type ( IV, SUBQ ETC) can influence moderately the speed in which it's affects are experienced. Now understand that is talking about necrosis and possible neurological symptoms. However Anaphylactic Shock can set in much fast as it is an allergic reaction to the venom or specifically one of the ingredients of the venom. I have lost friends to it and there is numerous documented medical cases of death within minutes of envenomation. Amongst people who keep and or work with venomous animal the Epipen is considered mandatory for safety. Typical 911 response time can be 2 to 5 minutes or more and that also greatly depends on location. In the woods or waters it can be much longer and the epipen could likely be the difference between life and death. Consulting a physician is also mandatory before getting one for numerous reasons not least is learning how to use the pen. If someone is bit they need to remain calm first and foremost. Remove all jewelry, belt and contact 911 if they are in an area where getting help is difficult or cell reception is bad get to someplace it can be made. NEVER put ICE or a Tourniquet on the bite location, Never suck out the venom or use one of those dam snake bite kits to cut yourself it will make it worse. The best thing is to LEAVE THE SNAKE ALONE! Only trained personal should ever mess with a snake as most people cannot even tell the difference between venomous and non-venomous. Only good snake is a Dead snake mentality has ended up killing more than one Redneck! -
Its amazing what no soda will do for you very quickly.

I am glad they are coming back, but like Jason I agree people keep saying she isn't a big bass lake. Well I say define "Big Bass" to me 10lbs and over is "Big" Beaver Big is 6lbs on Blacks and 4lbs on Smallmouth or more and they are definitely in the lake! More than people want to give it credit for because they are very hard to catch old an seen a lot.

Today was the annual get the boat ready for hunting/fishing season, fishing season by itself can make a mess of a boat so I had to reorganize and get her ready and while I was doing it I was thinking it would be nice to see everyone's rigs so post them up. Well that's my Gal.
