The only snake known to actually attack people or animals with pure intent is a Black Mamba and they don't live here and couldn't make it through our winters. They are highly territorial and can be very aggressive. I dealt with a few of them that ranged in personality from absolute psychopath to kitten tame its all in the personality of the snake. Honestly my favorite say was. " There is no cure for asphyxiation there is a cure for envenomation " Simply put more that a few of the venomous keepers I knew felt more safe with venomous snakes than large constrictors. Finally got to putting away the cooler month gear and realized my StormKloth gear is now 5 years old. I wear it from October to April as a rule almost daily and was thinking I have never had outdoor wear that lasted that long with the abuses I put it through and thought I would give everyone a heads up. Coppermine for whites and bass 5. Montne for Bass and Crappie 6. Hickory for a mix of fish 7. Rocky Branch for Walleye and Crappie with possible large hybrids 8 Lost Bridge South for Stripers 9 Fords Creek crappie and bass 10 Indian creek for Bass and Stripers.

Snakes in general are very fascinating to watch. There was several of us on a turtle survey that watched a big Eastern Diamondback tag a rabbit we watched it run off over 300 yards and die the snake tracked it down with no problem at all. Other research has been done on Mambas that show their problem solving abilities as well as how trainable they are. And the the medical applications for venom is mind blowing.

Its only as good as the creativety of the user and the recognition of circumstances of the user. I doubt many people want to pull one along at 2.5mph in 6 feet of water with #7 and 9's beating them up and going through 8 to 10 of them a day though. I might be wrong but 40 bucks a day in lures most people wont do lol. They are very effective but only as effective as the person using them. I know they work but you have to find out what the fish want them replicate it and be able to change as the fish do. Though I love the comparrison to the A-rig... everyone was so up in arms about it and quickly learned its just another tool nothing more.

Besides I have had days hunting and fishing that were more frustrating and like work than my job ever has been lol.

One of my favorite Carp/Catfish baits is made with corn products 2 cups cornmeal 2 cups dry dog food 6 slices of bread 1 can cream of corn Mix in a 1 gallon ziplock bag to the consistency of pie dough add water as needed. Simple and very effective.

Skeeter; its called regurge and no smell on earth is as unmistakable as it! Odd for a wild snake to do it unless its not healthy or the prey item had something on it that was not palatable. The worse of it is when a big constrictor kicks back a piglet. Breeding snakes is a stinky job some days lol.

If you want to see something neat find a dirt road that has toads or frogs on it and pull off and wait right before dusk cottonmouths if they are in the area know roads mean free meals. I have seen many picking off road kill.

Last Bass I intentionally threw in the live well was because of that.. Told the guy ( Thanks he is now MY dinner ) and then caught three more and in the live well they went. Granted got around the bend and let them go but the look on his face was priceless

LOL Bites hurt... Worse bite I ever had non-venomous was a Emerald Tree Boa. I would take a thousand watersnake bites over that one.

Its amazing how a little wind gets things rocking. The crappie fishing this year has been great! I do feel your pain about leaving a rod home. As to my spot its got to be a evening thing, Me personal though is the lake stayed so low this year it gave the grass a good amount of time to grow and the slow upswing really helped it and the fish are moving in to feed on the baitfish in low light conditions using the grass as cover. We had to switch to the #5's from the #7's so we could run just above the grass. I have no clue what is so productive about that stretch its maybe 100 yards long but always loaded with fish and usually big fish. We tried the long point to its North but the wind was way to much for us to cover it right! I know im going to give it a try soon if the wind lays down. Possibly head out very early Saturday morning and try and pick off more walleye and crappie until the hatch happens. Seems the Hatch is starting about 11am.

Oh we get a playoff starting next year ( some what ) 4 team playoff for the NC. I havent seen the final format but would be willing to bet to maximize revenue it will be the top four in the nation 1v3 in the Rose and 2v4 in the Sugar. Problem is with automatic births a 8 and 4 theoritically could be in by automatice and a 9 and 3 could be out because they are not in one of the divisions with automatic births. Last I checked Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, SEC and Pac-12 were going to be given automatic births and that sucks and causes what i think is a JOKE of a playoff. It really needs to be the top at minimum the top 16 teams play for the chance at the NC. Play the best records get home 1st week eleminating it to 10 then play them in the Rose, Cotton, Feista and Orange bowl. Then play the top 4 team in the Cotton and one other stadium and the final 2 play for the NC. it only adds 3 more games and deals away with the 1month off before the NC which to me screws up the game. I know the detractors are afraid of the SEC dominating it each year but I see that not as a detraction but forcing all the programs to strive to be better to compete. College Football is not a GAME it is a business and they need to run it just like pro-sports.

AB, That's why I said if the Cocks have injuries, I think Spurrier is building a good team in SC myself. Quill Its simple. In the BCS theme the one with the best record gets the big game and why ruin a record early facing a top team? Until the BCS makes each conference equal in number and each team plays only conference games it aint happening. BCS needs to do that then set up a play-off system leading up to the NC. Doubt that will happen ever though as Bowls = Big $$$.
