  1. I am another No... Don't even own one! I think to many people think there is a (1 Lure) that is better than another. I have found that confidence in my ability to pay attention to what is going on around me is more valuable then any 100 lures. When I get a chance to hit rivers and creeks I stock my box with (Leach, worm, grub's and swim baits for plastics....Hard Baits I like X-raps and Warts ) I try to keep it very simple. If I see smallies chasing Chubs I use swim baits, If i see a creek swollen i will throw grubs and worms. Paying attention In My Opinion is more important than any bait.
  2. My max trolling speed is 2.5mph, I run my baits from 100ft to 150ft behind the boat. Most of what I have been using the last week is Rapala crank baits 17ft depth rating in Fire Tiger and Black and Chrome, Black n White. I carry a 1000 yrd spool of 10lb on the boat for people who want to cut in to close. I do my best to wave them off but when they just dont get it, they get it and get it all.. It doesnt happen often but when it does its simpler to give them the spool and watch them trying to get the mess out of the prop while i just respool... On a good note popped 5 Walters this morning from 18'' to 26'' on Beaver before the 5th Fleet launched for the day.
  3. Jeb as an avid Duck hunter playing the wind is a must.. Beaver drove me nuts until I found numerous areas. Now when I go out I look at what it is doing and go to where I can hunt based on that. Great waterfowling Lake but just like her fish she doesnt give things up easy or without you putting in time to learn her... Oh well time to go do what i said I wouldnt.. Heading out to Monte Ne to look for walleye untill it gets to bad to be fun.
  4. Actually I think Hitting the Elk would do less damage... If you hit Rosie you would get out to see what you hit and see her and then need to poke your eyes out with a hot poker.
  5. Here is a rule to use at BEAVER for the wind... THERE IS NO RULE... If it is suppose to be out of the North and you are in Rocky Branch it will be out of the East.. If you are in Prairie Creek it will be out of the South and if you are in Monte Ne it will blow in circles... Beaver is a fun lake and only after time will you know which way the wind will actually blow for where you are on it.
  6. x'3 and we should be able to arm our boats so when the Village looses its Idiots we can shoot them.
  7. Just think what they will do to a Car lol
  8. Stump, the Walleye dont all run up river that is a Myth! I have seen them spawin on rocks and and other areas. Yes some make a run but others do not, you can actually verify that through many DNR and Science Papers. BUT they do need the water to stay at a level that allows for a successful spawn same as bass, As to Flood Control. THAT IS NOT THE PURPOSE of the lakes. They were build for water storage and electricity. I do not have much sympathy for people who build downstream of a dam in what would obviously be a flood zone. If people do not have brains enough to understand that to much water = flood and building a house in a flood zone = flooded house, well You Can't fix stupid! Kinda like people in FL who build on Barrier Islands then cry about loosing thier house when a Hurricane hits. There is just some places people do not need to build houses and business's.
  9. I think the greatest resource for all our local lakes is this site... For Table Rock "RPS" is a valuable resource an I bet he replies. Walters on the Rock are to my knowledge more a Western sections of the lake near the river arms. There are some VERY LARGE Walleye in the lake but they are few... Bull Shoals on the other hand if you want walleye is the better of the two lakes right now. Another 5 Years and I would bet TR will be standing its own against any lake though.
  10. Here is how I look at the ELK. If the MDC was truly concerned about restoring them ( which i would support) then they need to let them roam at will. I am just curious if the MDC even went out west or talked to people about the ELK. They will roam, so here is the problem they go off the reservation and Custer will get sent in to shoot them. Im sorry but to me reintroduction means to try and bring back the species. NOT bring them back to a small area and any that do not obey the signs get shot. Bring up DEER and TURKEY but I have never seen the MDC go shoot them when they leave an area. Pretty penny spent on the ELK just to go Custer on them.
  11. No question it could be and does to some degree... I have caught Walleye from 6'' to 29'' this year, BUT we have had several high water years to aid in the spawn. I do not think AGFC is the problem, ACE is the problem with all the lakes they control. If they were to simply leave the water at full pool from February to May I think all our lakes would be better off.
  12. That would be because it would be RESTORING wetlands that benifit far more animals. You would have Marshes, Riparian, Ponds etc that benifit hundreds of species. Waterfowl season itself is only 60 days but the rewards for properly managed waterfowl areas to wildlife and human uses if VAST.
  13. Ok Chief then how about something easier say a few Waterfowl Management areas in the South Zone!
  14. Lots of good money and time wasted that could have been used on Quail and other Game that needed it far more. I say HIGH fence them and let some people blast them and start putting the money for the shoots to projects that need it.
  15. This is a Walter Report... They are in 17 to 25 ft of water on flats near main lake channel. Trolling Black and White Rapalas 150ft behind the boat at 2.5mph is the trick. I managed 8 today and a few whites and te smallest striper I think I have ever seen. I came off the water about 7:30 I figured when I was trying to decide how to mount the 50Cal on the Boat and Torpedo's for destroying the Party Barges and Ski Boats it was time to get off the lake... I saw so many illegal activities and dangerous ones AINT NO WAY I am going on the lake the rest of the weekend... Looks like its getting time to visit the Tail-waters and Taney untill the water gets cold again and the Morons go back to the closets. And people always seem so shocked someone died at the lake.. Maybe just Maybe if we had more Law Enforcement and they actually started citing and arresting people things would get better.
  16. That there would be a Black Ratsnake missing a good chunk of its tail to boot!...
  17. Though never a Guide myself I have many friends who are fishing guides. I have deck-handed for them in a pinch. A client IMO should base tips off several factors. 1. Is it a Guide who is the owner operator or is it a Guide through a facility? If it is a Guide through a Facility I always say tip them based off the trip. I have seen good guides through a facility get bigger tips then the guide fee. Also give them payment for each fish they clean for you. Now if it’s a Owner Operator then a tip is not required as that person should have all the expenses factored in to his fee. However Owner operators it’s nice to tip them with gifts ( shirts lines Etc ) 2. Duration of trip: If it is a 1 day or more than a tip of 15% has always been my norm as there is much more involved, yes the Guide might have it all factored in but long trips comfort is a plus and a guide who keeps me comfortable is getting a tip. 3. Meals: You provide me a shore lunch or breakfast I can promise you will get a tip if you are even a half way decent cook. Bolognas sandwich and you aren’t getting nothing! 4. Learning experience: If you can teach me things bet on a tip. You don’t and basically are hiding knowledge and you won’t. 5. Laughs, if a Guide could keep me laughing all day and my mind off life you are getting a tip and a big one! I fish to clear my head and replenish my soul. I think a day of laughter is more important to me than anything now. Bottom line is each circumstance is different but there are certain things that trigger a tip and times I will not tip. I do not care so much about catching a fish as I do having a good time! If I am with a person who is screaming all day or foul mouthed or brings me down, THEN NO TIP. When you find a good guide though SPREAD THE WORD about them, I will go to the word of mouth Business over the internet reviews and magazine ads! I want to hear it from people that they enjoyed the trip.
  18. And on the 8th day God created Skynyrd! And he said Simple men are best.
  19. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Keitech_Swing_Impact/descpage-KSI.html#multiview But I get mine at Hook, Line and Sinker...
  20. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... Shad you say
  21. LOL... I have 3 A-rigs in my bag with them on it and its what I have been throwing all year...
  22. Not sure I would say 30 years but last 10 for sure.....
  23. Strange you really want funny.... Tarpon and Bonefish are two of the most sought after fish and Neither are fit table fair! They would be called a rough fish if they were in freshwater.
  24. I think it can be found in NY, LA or San Fran.... probably nothing us stupid redneck hill billys would understand... then again they wouldnt understand helping a friend raise a barn on a saturday or helping a person you never met change a flat just because it was the right thing to do.
  25. It is due to Habitat! And every Biologist I have spoken to says the same thing Never found a Bass in any of the THOUSANDS of Stripers I have cleaned. Ouchita has much better cover also The last statement you would have to prove Stripers would screw it up and the science contradicts it so what harm is there? The shad population is very healthy, so by all reasoning there should be a healthy and large Black Bass population. There is not according to you but I beg to differ, Beaver is a tough lake yet I do very well on it day in day out. I put my work in and pay attention. The Bass live in one habitat the Stripers another… Beaver needs better Habitat but it’s a ACE Lake and we all know ACE puts fishermen low on the priority list. Here is how I see it… Name me the fish that were NATIVE to the Ozark Lakes ( Beaver, TR, Taney and Bull) and then tell me the introduced fish! Then tell me why any 1 introduced species is more important than another except some people like to fish for one species and others for another~!
