Wading Access
Feathers and Fins replied to Dylan Cluver's topic in Beaver Tailwater/Upper White River
Right below the dam there are plenty of places. Then you have Houseman access and 62 bridge. -
Sounds Like My Kind Of Luck......
Feathers and Fins replied to Danoinark's topic in General Angling Discussion
Mitch, He did.. It would appear that they tried to follow the rules and it was AGFC who by their actions made it next to impossible for this man to claim the record. Had a Warden or other official simply gone to the Lake, verified its weight on the Lakes scale, then the lake had the scale certified the next day then this WOULD be a record no questions needed... But it appears from the article as well other fish have been certified that DID NOT meet the obligations to the rules. AGFC needs to Modify its policy to make dam sure this never happens in the future! Fishing is suppose to be fun. If states want to keep records then they need to make the process simple and fun forr the anglers and UNIFORM for all. This appears to not be that way as other records appear to have not followed the rules yet been awarded. -
LOL...I bet they start looking at it as a way to catch fish and have fun... good job.

Marker Bouys, Common Sense & Courtesy
Feathers and Fins replied to Mike Worley's topic in Lower Bull Shoals
Mike Good edit... I was just upset to see someone with your reputation basicaly telling others to pick up peoples gear. I dont think its what you meant but man if someone saw it and did it the result could be very bad.... FYI though on bouys. I have put out up to 15 at a time marking an area I plan to troll on a very specific contour line. GPS are great but NOTHING beats exact markers for precision control and angling. I run 2 HDS units on my boat but still beleive in the Markers. -
Bull Shoals Breaking Beaver's Striper Record
Feathers and Fins replied to Stump bumper's topic in Beaver Lake
I so hope IGFA Certifies it a WORLD RECORD... SLAP AGFC in the face for the handling of this and to Make it a point in the future to have personel available to deal with it. This From the reading is a complete BS by AGFC... -
Marker Bouys, Common Sense & Courtesy
Feathers and Fins replied to Mike Worley's topic in Lower Bull Shoals
Mike, With all do respect, I have to completely and strongly disagree with you on the buoys. I still use them to mark out a point or parameter of points and humps and then after marking the area out completely I will then mark it out on my GPS Unit and Map so I have not only the map/graph but can see it in my head as well. If I caught someone STEELING my Buoys I can promise you I would call out the sheriff, Warden, Ranger whoever had the jurisdiction and I WOULD push for prosecution, If it does not belong to you and you take it you are a thief and I will never tolerate that. What do you do to people running Jug Lines? Do you pick them up and throw them away? If you do then you are looking at multiple charges now! You may not like how one person does something but if it is legal then you must respect the law. No marking spots to try and (RESERVE) it is wrong and if you are not around it I may fish it. It’s the publics lake not someone’s Private spot! Respect and courtesy should be the rule. But to infer that marking an area is wrong or you will take the markers is a very good way to have a serious incident happen. I have seen more than one fight break out from people touching jug-line sets. You may want to re-think your position on interfering with other people property. -

Love the trails, the Americana art is nice but the archetectual design of the building is very nice. -
Memorial Day Tradition (A Little Change Of Pace This Year)
Feathers and Fins replied to jolicious's topic in Beaver Lake
If you put in at Rocky Branch motor to the center of the water and throw Keitech's 4'' white on 1/4oz and you should have 50 or 60 hybrids, small stripers and Whites in no time... if they get pushed out just follow them to each cove on the west side. -
There is a well kept secret in the Sporting retail business... If it says Sporting Goods or Outdoors it is NOT a true hunting and fishing store just a catch all warehouse to get everyone from soccer moms to would be fishermen to walk in.

Proposed Constitutional Amendment To Lower Excise Tax
Feathers and Fins replied to Quillback's topic in Beaver Lake
People need to leave AGFC alone. It might not be perfect but its far better than most States. -
Let me answer it by this. 185pnd Tarpon, 500lb Bull Shark, 65pnd Wahoo and Countless other fish all with Floro and a Palomar knot. I do not care what any scientist or fishing magazine or club says! I use what I KNOW wrks and has worked for years and that is simply this. 1. Everytime you hook a fish check the line for abbrasions, if it is roughed up cut off 2 feet of line and re-tie 2. Check your line often and re-tie as needed 3. When fishing heavy cover Check the line and re-tie as needed. If you check your line and knots often and re-tie as needed then one knot is as good as another IMO. It is a maintenance issue no diffrent then any other.

· If a boat is fishing a long runout point, is it ok to fish the same point if an angler keeps his distance? I know that I may move up and down the point trying to find fish. If someone else sets up in an area, it limits where I can move. Common Courtesy would dictate the angler first to the point should be allowed to fish it unmolested and interfered with. As the angler fishes the point he may very well move up and down the point and someone else pulling on to the point and starting to fish it is interfering with his fishing and creating frustration. · If a boat is working down a long bank, such as a bluff or long bank in the river, that is your prime fishing area, how do you set up? I generally try to drop in behind the other boat, but sometimes they move so slowly that I catch up quickly and do not want to pass them. At other times, I have started at the other end of the bank and passed by in the middle. This happens a lot in the spring while crappie fishing. Bluff lines are a different situation, I have seen many people pull up on them and then start fishing never to move and others that pull up and start working it. I try to watch the boats on bluffs prior to fishing them. If I see an anchored boat then I just do not fish within 100 yards of it. If I see a guy working one direction I try to come in behind him NEVER in front of him as you have effectively pressured and possibly shut-off a bite for him. Bluffs are single dimensional fishing areas unlike a point that can be fished from multiple sides and even over the top of it. Bluffs you are casting at them for simple terms. · If there are several boat docks on a bank or in a cove and a boat is fishing one of them, does one assume that they are going to fish all of them over time and leave, or just fish a different dock than they are? NO, I have seen and even I have one or two docks in an area I know produce and others that do not. Fish them if you wish it’s a small fixed area inside a larger area. However if you see 3 or 4 in a row and someone is on one allow him the others. · Are the rules different in a tournament or for a guide who has people who have paid to catch fish? Common courtesy and respect should be the determining factors always! Why is a Guide or a Tournament angler any better than you or I? A few minutes watching will tell you what someone is doing as a general rule and can save frustration for you and them. Remember most people are out there to have fun and enjoy the day and hopefully catch a few fish. A Guide is making a living true! But they need to show the same respect to other anglers and they would like shown to them. Same applies to the Tourney angler.

My brother and I went out on some hot tips yesterday to Beaver Tail-Waters and then to Beaver Lake. The tail-waters were a breath of fresh air and soul healing I was much in need of after the last few weeks of work. Fishing was not red hot by any means but we did put a few nice trout to the boat using Black and Chrome Rapalas in 14 to 20ft of water, the walleye bite never materialized. But the scenery and trout made up for it along with a very nice 7lb bass. Beavers hot tips on stripers I am still scratching my head about. I think it wasn’t there because of very heavy boat traffic and some of the most discourteous boaters I have seen in years. I really wish Coast Guard and the Sherriff’s department would get out on the lake and start writing citations. Cabin Cruiser and Ski Boats running wide open less that 100 ft from people sitting in the water or trolling and swamping them were only a few of the things that need to stop. We did manage to put a nice mess of Hybrids and Whites and Numerous Bass to the boat. All the fish we found were in the back of coves and pockets in Cedar Trees, guess they were hiding from the dangerous boaters as well. I never did go check the Walleye reports on the rip-rap again because of the other boaters. I watched several of them blasting along that area and just felt it was to dangerous to run a boat close to the dam with that going on. It’s definitely summertime and I think I will adjust my fishing times to weekdays and late afternoon or early morning on Beaver. The weekend Warriors are out in force and just tends to make it less pleasure full when you are getting swamped or in my boats case rocked all over the place. Be safe out there and have fun. If you want to try for some fish start out at point 3 and work backs of creek arms any pockets and narrow coves and you should do decent working toward the dam and Indian Creek.

What Time Of Day Do You Stop Fishing Topwater?
Feathers and Fins replied to Mitch f's topic in General Angling Discussion
I let the fish tell me what to do. If you see surface activity be it bait or the fish then throw top water. -

Feathers and Fins replied to Feathers and Fins's topic in Beaver Lake
Stump, the reports are good as gold from the guys giving them to me.. I saw pictures of one walley that was well over 10lbs and the others were all between 6 and 8... Stripers I can get easily when they are doing what i was told so im more interested in some CRNG Walleye -
I Know Where The Stripers Are!
Feathers and Fins replied to Feathers and Fins's topic in Beaver Lake
LOL.. Its code for Striper limites of the big ones are being taken in 1 hour. I love it when my phone explodes with those reports. -
They are someplace close to the dam in a creek arm near a marina and they have the shad hemmed up near a old hooty owl... Those are your hints! BUT i got a red hot tip on where some very large walleye are and they are near a spider around a bridge and a yellow bridge has to substitute for a yellow submarine on an island known for Holiday. Ill be after the Eyes in the morning and Stripers in the afternoon...

I beleive you I know what that area has been producing lately and that is very real numbers... Congrats...

Bull Shoals Breaking Beaver's Striper Record
Feathers and Fins replied to Stump bumper's topic in Beaver Lake
World Record Landlocked is 67.8... Striped Bass WORLD RECORD is (81 lb 14 oz). His fish will need to Break the World record by 4.7oz to qualify as the New world record or he will be tied for it. If you ever wondered what it takes to get a world record http://www.igfa.org/images/uploads/files/IGFA%20RulesReqiurements_021411.pdf As to the Bull Shoals BS about Stripers.. They have as much right to stock it as they do stocking any non-native species to that lake... Wonder which species were ORIGINALY native to BULLS SHOALS "LAKE" I congradulate this angler for his catch a Striper of that size is a powerful fish. I would like to know what requirements he didnt follow though from the AGFC if IGFA is still thinking about it... I bet if IGFA certifies it AGFC will have mud on their face and accept it.
