  1. Had to share this video from the other day, Birds working over the stripers and the perfect song came on the radio http://youtu.be/kFXsOdO9JIo
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6qwkOw5tlI
  3. Maybe this will teach the companies to stop going overseas and start building in America again, but I doubt it.
  4. Not if I had been in the boat, He took 250yards right off the spool like it wasn't there. In a boat I can turn on the big motor if needed lol. Nicks 45 and Yaks 44 both required us chasing them down, Granted Nick did it with 6lb though lol.
  5. I BET we start hearing that if the walkout/strike whatever they want to call it at the ports in California don't get back to unloading soon. Your thoughts?
  6. How about you healing and get over here and catching some Keith? Im concerned about the front moving them out to deep water but they wont go far and should turn back on after the weather warms back up.
  7. Shimano Stradic 4000
  8. HEY NOW 4 of 5 stripers were released happy and safely lol. They need to be there for tomorrow and tell their friends I just play with them I don't hurt them... Gotta keep my pets thinking they are safe.
  9. Dan I have Videos I will post later this week, got a couple fun ones tonight Reeling with one hand videoing with the other I was having a blast, really what I needed to bring the kid out in me.
  10. 15 to 20lb class fish. The one that spooled me I couldn't turn, slow down, stop, hesitate anything it just burned off line and was gone. My guess it had to have been in the 40lb class.
  11. This time I had to go do it from shore, sometimes getting back to basics of a Rod and Reel casting a lure from shore is just needed to bring the kid out in you and remind you of why you love fishing. I hit the water at 4pm slight north wind birds working bait and Bucktail tied on. I managed 5 stripers and one that spooled me ( been many years since that happened ) I couldn't stop it turn it do nothing but watch it rip the line off the reel. Anyway conditions were Frontal, light N-wind, Lure was a Bucktail 3/4oz. A pair of the 5 landed

  13. I love how some of the shadows on the pics you can tell they are spoonbill. Great to see the Dinosaurs in the lake, I know in one of the pics doc sent me I counted 37 of them but I would bet a lot more.
  14. Use to enjoy the solitude of being alone but now I get a bigger kick out of putting others on a great bite and the excitement they have and smiles are a great reward.
  15. As beautiful as the weekend was I would bet most people were out fishing combined with internet sales less people in the store. Also with other retailers so available and their prices equal to or better and being internet I often wonder how much longer stores like BP and Cabelas have that charge what seems like higher prices in the store and when you walk in and see all the decoration you get the feeling your paying for that more than the bait. The final thought is I see and hear people all over the internet and even on TV saying by local from local stores and have to think that as well plays in to it. The last one is especially true for my family, we have really started staying clear of the Wal's of the world and shopping and eating at more locally owned and family owned business's I will say this Harps meats blow walmarts away and their produce is much better as well imo. Maybe we are seeing the death of the Big Store and the rebirth of the Mom and Pop and that's not bad in my book.
  16. I really dislike that ramp to me its just to small and parking is a pain in the you know what. I would launch at Rocky Branch and make the run. Walleye are definitely hiding I have been talking to a lot of people this week all scratching their heads. The general thought train is they are up the river from Hickory to War Eagle but everyone is saying so is all the bait in the world and those eyes are well fed. The few I have seen from up their are all super fat and the guys said full of 2 to 3 inch shad.
  17. Went for them but not enough to mention which surprised me. Even thought about going for the Otolith but was to tired.
  18. Blackened Striper Steaks Heat cast iron pan to 500 degrees Lightly baste Meat in Olive Oil Turn on Oven and preheat to 350 Cover with Paprika, Salt, Pepper, Onion powder, Garlic Powder Sear until meat starts to flake away from the pan repeat on other side Remove and place in a bowl with lemon juice and above ingredients for while you prepare aluminum foil to wrap Steaks. Place fillets in foil and wrap Cook for 15 minutes in oven wrapped Unwrap and cook an additional 10 minutes in juices These are served with Garlic and Onion French Green Beans. And this is why I love Stripers so much This is preparation And this is the end result
  19. Spider creek, Coppermine would be very good choices. Early May the majority of Beavers fish are from 12 bridge to point 5 so you may also think about places in Rogers.
  20. War Eagle, anything with white and im happy.
  21. Its fun for me and that is the biggest plus, I get more of a kick seeing people catch fish then when I get one, Heck if it wasn't for hunting and fishing I would hate to think what I would have gotten in to in my youth.
  22. The reports like the one you see above comes from a page I started on Facebook some time back this is what is on the page to explain why; What you said about reports being less than honest was the entire reason I started it, When I see in the middle of summer reports saying walleye are in 8 to 12 ft I know they are full of it especially when the report has been the same for 4 months and when I see the person making the report telling people the fish are in Indian Creek and he is launching at Prairie Creek and fishing there........WELL lets just say I wonder why? Being honest to me saves people money, catches them fish and like yesterday smiles are worth more than any amount of money. I have been criticized for being to exact on spots sometimes so im just trying to give general areas, but if white bass are in the report you can be assured I will give exact location them dang things cost me money in replacing keitechs lol.
  23. Crappie were interrupted when I already had two stripers on shore and realized my truck was still running behind me and it had a boat attached lol. Horrible stripers interrupting crappie slaying.
  24. Kept 5 of 12, I release plenty each year and yet to have had a death but you need to treat them gently and be sure to revive them properly..
